“Hans Bridger Heruth is an award-winning composer whose works range from opera to art song. Using Sara Teasdale's poem "Joy," this rhythmic and exciting piece, which is supported by four-hand piano accompaniment, is described by Heruth as being "warm, spirited, and characterizing someone young and full of hope." Following an exuberant opening, the middle section adds a small, homophonic ensemble over rhythmic choral ostinati, building to a climactic cadence. The recapitulation begins simply with unison chorus, gradually expanding in range, harmonic texture, and lengthening phrases, and ending with angelic soli voices.”
