Please be clear with the fact that the regional government (Mazon) was responsible for sending the alarm and prepering his region. As the other regions like Andalusia and Castilla la Mancha did when Dana hit them at the same time. Also explain that Mazon and his party eliminated the new emergency department that the former party had created for Valencia. He is trying to distract attention from his negligence.

Hi the British people are not really going to understand because the UK is not as regional ... they dont understand the spanish political system .. to them if westminster does something its announced everywhere and its all clear. They dont understand the diff languages and diff regional tv stations etc and how it works regions in spain have much more autonomy. That is why they wont make it clear it makes no sense to them. The british govt is much more centralized except for countries like wales or scotland .. they dont understand why valencia isnt under just the national govt more because its a region and not a country. They would expect the national govt to do everything for valencia.

You could set much earlier alarm, but 490mm in 8 hours is impossible by any technical known means to prevent, stopped the consequences such masses of water.
In September 2024 in Poland in regions were flooded and rain water just 400mm in 3 days, so Spanish was much, much intense. However Polish authorities were better prepared, and started to strengthen rivers banks, reservoirs, brides, and warned people in all concerned regions. However flooding of towns, and villages was very severe, and 10 people died.

Sounds a bit like our weather body in Australia. They rely too much on electronic warning systems . These appear to fail if water rises quickly. There is no substitute for local knowledge and eyes on the ground. Not people sitting in a dry office well away from the flood zone. There needs to be more trained human presence, not just electronic monitoring in a comfy office. Also anyone with a modicum of knowledge would know that a high volume of rain in catchment area and below in a short space of time will create a flash flood. . The severity of which will be even worse if the ground already saturated and the water has no where else to go.

Spanish politicians have never seen the usual typhoon now in asia is becoming worst too but because people have been warned and evacuated, casualties were not that much but of course damage in the infrastractures is unavoidable. There are still some casualties when people refuse to leave their homes etc but they have been warned earlier.

The people keep pointing fingers and assigning blame to anyone they think is in charge. It's unlikely anyone can take full blame for this catastrophe. Who would have known the flood would be that powerful as it never happened before? This was a pure act of unpredictable nature. How much early warnings could the people have received to be enough to clear all traffic, move their cars, etc.?
The people may have been able to get help sooner after the flood but it would be a logistics nightmare to assemble men and machinery in a single day especially with the roads blocked and the train rails damaged. Helicopters could have airlifted supplies to the people, but they likely don't have those heavy-lifting helicopters ready on a moment's notice. Throwing mud on their royalty and calling them murderers is a bit extreme as the royalty doesn't have that sort of control. Where would they get the experience to handle such a rare event? Mother Nature or mankind's carelessness is to blame. Blaming people won't help at all in this case. This catastrophe is simply too large to handle as fast as some people think it should be handled. There are hardly enough skilled people in Spain to handle a flood of this magnitude. Although civilians want to help, thousands more people at the scene can still present problems without proper guidance.
This whole disaster comes down to just bad luck and it couldn't be foreseen.

What the interviewer and the female on-the-spot journalist don't understand and don't take into account is that this phenomenon, called the "gota fría" or DANA, happens every year to a greater or lesser degree and that the local people know this and would never have expected the severity of what happened this year. In 1957, after the last catastrophe, the river Turia was rerouted to avoid Valencia being flooded again and indeed this year the city itself was untouched. It's far too simplistic to say the warning was too late and anyway no warning could have specifically pinpointed where nor how the disaster would unfold plus most people would have ignored the warning. I have lived in Valencia for nearly 40 years.

I don't follow the news, the tv or online, still I've seen the warnings .. I feel bad for any life lost, mostly for the innocent ones, that have nothing to say on where and when they are, but I don't understand the adults that don't pay attention... Not sure how it was in Valencia but I've seen it this morning in Barcelona.. they said it in the forecast, you can see it and hear it this morning, they sent a warning on the phones... And people still thought it was ok to get in their cars and drive... And to by some milk?? All of them? With a baby that small you have nothing in the house, it's a must to go that evening, all of them... We keep forgetting that stupidity kills, irresponsibility kills... Usually just the things around us untill...

I wish all politicians and anyone in power in the government, would have to be a scientist to a certain degree. As in, have a scientific background and understanding of things.
I absolutely hate all politicians around the world. I never fell for this side or the other. All parties are always corrupt, liars, manipulators who never take serious matters seriously. And I've had the privilege of living in various countries across three continents. It only goes from somewhat corrupt to extremely corrupt. No government or political party is all good. Never have been and never will be. The system is always built to keep corruption going and kicking out the ones who want positive changes.
