    Hey Cody, I'd say this is an accurate representation. Thanks for the video. One thing I would add, especially because you used "I survived" in your title, estimating IS NOT for everyone. It can be a ton of pressure as you know. Everyone is depending on you.. and owners are demanding. It takes a lot of confidence, organization, knowledge, and patience. That being said, I love estimating. What else do you use Building Connected for besides tracking who you have invited, who is bidding, and who isn't bidding? Do you actually level bids in there? I have yet to do it. Doesn't seem like the best option for me. I know who you're estimating teacher was.. he's tough. I just talked with him yesterday in fact! Gig Em!

    I’m graduating with a B.S. in Business Administration. I want to become a budget and/or financial analyst, but where I live, there’s just not enough jobs. Construction is huge around here though, so I just got the idea of joining the construction business as an estimator. My goal is to get in as an estimator intern somewhere, and if needed, will go for a construction management certification offered at a nearby school.

    As a previous Field Engineer, now switching to fully remote Cost Estimator, I struggle the most with the repetitiveness of the work (2-3 bids per month) and after a while it feels like an endless cycle vs the field work where every week something was different and also the lack of input and feedback from coworkers and field personnel due to work remotely.

    Are there any certifications you'd recommend to get into estimating?

    Also, can you please attempt to get Tom Whitfield to divulge his practice regimen?

      You need to find a small construction company who will give you the chance to do an internship. Or, go to school for it.

      @CodyCockroft I'm currently in plumbing school right now but I think I can see myself doing this. Is there any programs I can do online? Btw I'm in Canada

    Did your boss come in and catch you juggling? Then give you a raise for juggling five balls?

    do you actually use the subs from buildingconnected or just use them for pricing?

    • @CodyCockroft
      @CodyCockroft  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah we use them. That's how we find new people to work with. Whoever has everything at the lowest price helps us win work.

      @@CodyCockroft what's that process like? Is it the estimator with the final decision on what subs work, what else do you look at other than price? I'm a flooring contractor trying to get into commercial. I've been doing a few bids on there but haven't hit any yet. Chicagoland area, any info helps thanks!
