Sometimes I find a scripture verse that fits the theme or message of the song and read it- from my bible. Use it to point out truths and point that we should be praising God. I sometimes use a verse or two from Psalms instead. Thank you for your ideas! Great vid.
I've been called to play the piano in a very small church, there's no singer except myself..it's nerve recking so I'm looking for little tips that would make it better. Great and simple information, I loved this. Just to the point. Thanks for your ideas.
i repeat the lyrics of the song as well or, I say scripture that will be related with the Song or, I say a short Testimony relating to the song of worship OR I make Declaration with the congregation relating to the song im about to jump in
I always have scripture that leads into the next song or a prayer in mind. if the two songs are same key I’ll keep pads going, if not I just fade them out with my foot peddle.
Ah interesting view! I know a lot of people struggle with what to say, but I can’t forget those who don’t know when to stop 😂 My advice for you would be to make sure what you’re saying doesn’t last longer than a single part of a song. So if you have the band playing chorus chords behind what you’re saying, don’t talk longer than one full chorus. That sounds short, but really it should be just enough time for an in between prayer or exhortation.
@@YourWorshipMentor I was mostly being facetious there, but I appreciate the insight. Also gotta say I think the concept of this channel is really neat!
Haha sorry I seem to have missed that😅 But I agree, I think it was good advice nonetheless 😂 Also, thank you! I’m having fun! If there are any topics you think would be helpful, let me know!
Your Worship Mentor yeah, actually! In no particular order: •Multimedia/non-musical additions to worship •Writing songs for worship •Introducing/teaching new songs to the church •Gracefully dealing with stylistic differences (hymns vs. contemporary, etc.) •Best audition practices •Gracefully dealing with a team member who needs to go •Best practices for song selection •”Artistic expression” vs. “serving the song” •Effectively maximizing a livestream (seems somewhat timely haha) Feel free to ignore all of these lol, but they’re just some topics that have popped into my head recently
Peter W lots of good topics to talk about! Thanks for the recommendations! As I’m building this channel I had thought about getting into the church tech side of things, but I know that my strength is more in the relational and pastoral side of leading. BUT! A good channel for church tech is Churchfront with Jake Gosselin. (No affiliation) but I’ve noticed he posts a lot of church tech videos including some on live-streaming!
What do you say between songs? Is there anything you'd add to this list? Let's start a dialogue!
