Watching Nasser in the 98 Olympia got me into bodybuilding. I was lucky enough Santa Clause brought me these Nasser on the Way VHS tapes for the next christmas. This guy was my bodybuilding idol. I did the same sets and reps he did and tried to match his poundages. Rest in peace big man.
With this video you really appreciate the trials that the top bodybuilders must endure to do what they do. They are the hardest working athletes but the least appreciated. They have incredible discipline and an incredible work ethic. Nasser was one the true greats and his legend lives on.
Nasser was huge ! I didnt actually like or appreciate him untill the latter years after he was almost done competing... But what a great bodybuilder !! Always loved watching him do DB flat presses.
Oh absolutely it would suck working so hard and carrying around a body like that. Can you imagine breathing and having to get on planes, in cars etc? Look at how in the beginning he has such a pump he can not take his shirt off. I would put MMA fighters up there too. They work super hard and then beat the crap out of each other. Plus they do not get the recognition other athletes get like in the top leagues in team sports
Many years ago when I first saw the photos of Nasser in the magazines I had mistakenly thought that he might be a rude or angry man. In those days there was no youtube and I had no access to any of his videos. Now that I see him, he looks like a very humble, calm and gentle person. Would be great to have a training session with him and listen to his advice. He left us too early. RIP Nasser.
The Greatest era of bodybuilding... Watching videos of Dorian Yates have brought me here, strange that at 47 years of age this is the firs time I've ever heard Nasser's voice... going through the 90s as a twenty year old something who trained 5 evenings a week we only ever had pictures of these amazing people in Flex magazine...... Amazing times with amazing people, sadly some are not with us any more
For a mass monster Nasser was actually quite aesthetic. Despite competing at around 275+ lbs his conditioning was pretty decent and, most importantly, his midsection was always under control, at least when he was in contest shape. I don't think I have ever seen any pictures of him with a huge gut, even off season.
There are a few photos os him with a big gut, but I guess where taken in a bad moment, becasue in contest he looks very very well, considering his big abs
I'm a bodybuilder too, and having grown up during the Frank Zane era when I first started out in 1979 I never went above a 225lb body weight, now in retrospect at 52 I'm SURE this kept me alive... I saw Nasser when he trained for a while In Surrey B.C. Canada at Gold's Gym (which is now Platinum Gym) and he was totally DOUBLE my size...
Today's Incredible Hulk. He will be deeply missed without a doubt. One of the greatest pro bodybuilders ever both on the stage and off. An amazingly powerful man yet with a humble heart. Sleep easy big guy...to us...you'll always be the best Mr Olympia ever.
When i looked at this guy i had the hulk feeling.. i literally felt the most muscular... The gym gear.. swag was awsome... This guy looked great in suits... RIP... robbed of 97 mr. O...
Great advice with the not always training heavy. Guys today want to train heavy every session. Cut the weight by 30% for a couple of weeks and see how your muscles will grow. Heavy all the time can abs will be counter productive.
Nasser would have been a great analyst if he were around today. He was open, honest about certain BB things and he was pasionate with an opinion. Would be smashing it now having his own TH-cam channel etc... he's missed. I wonder if he had any children?
The humbleness, and respect he had for people. But at the same time, able to attack the weights, is special. If more people in America were more humble in 2022, and just relax a little, and let things be. Work, eat, relax, pray, and be nice to those who are nice to you. 👍👍👍. Be at peace Nassar....🙂🙂
Thank you for the upload!!! Not the uploader problem but fuck all these ads TH-cam....everytime ....fucking 5 min. Going to another web host other than the APP!!!!!
TheDevineBeing yeah but he as achieved a lot in his shortly lived life he was one of the greatest bodybuilders of the 90s will always be remembered. The uncrowded Mr Olympia!
@@Jimii89 totally agree at last a intelligent comment steroids don't kill people it's steriod abuse tht kills people using drugs is fine as long as you don't abuse drugs abuse kills not use 👍
@@leehollebon3393 well , the steroids Arnold was taking are completely different than those of today. Arnold in his hey day standing next to any of the more modern bodybuilders would look at a amateur at best. The drug is so powerful now, there is no way for your heart not to enlarge and your kidneys will take a beating.the amount of dead bodybuilders dying young should be proof enough that steroids in quantity and time will definitely mess up your body and take decades off your life. But if vanity is that important by all means, have at it!
This cameraman is some kind of creep he literally followed him in the bathroom and Nasser even says don’t shot here but he continues to do so.i just found it very weird.
The biggest problem with bodybuilding was then and still is today the lack of money. Why in the hell would people want to compete in a sport this difficult & not get paid for it? Like he said you litterly have to be one of the top 15 in the world to make a decent living off of it. Then even if you are one of the top 15, its not allot of money. Add into it the cost of all of your food, suppliments, travel etc and the cost to be a bodybuilder can be outrageous.
I agree bodybuilding is basically a beauty contest. But it still takes an amazing amount of dedication and discipline. I just think the fitness industry needs to take a serious look at how much money they are willing to invest in these guys. If they aren't willing to support these guys i don't see the point. I mean its very unhealthy at the top level and it kinda reminds me of pro wrestling. Which is just now starting to pay some of their top guys a decent wage. If you add up all the income Phil Heath is earning, (and i mean ALL of his income sources combined), it still pales in comparison to a basketball player or a boxer. And even if it DOES, he still earns more then double the guys ranked behind him. And he faces serious long term health risks because of all the insulin and other drugs etc. I just think its ridiculous. Seriously! LOL
Man… just listening to how out of breath he is just sitting around and talking really brings home how much stress it is on the body pushing 275+ lbs around.

His 8 pack was his pride

He had a bubble gut later in his life because of insulin and growth hormone abuse. Watch his last contests and see for yourself.
Pregnant bellies started with Phil Heath and Kai Greene
@@fikretpajalic1224 no it started with growth hormone and insulin use unfortunately
