Been watching a bunch of old sf2 matches and this one stands out a lot. Great Chun Li play against such an oppressive opponent, probably the best match I've seen so far.
Nuki did a really good job considering what he was going up against. The advantage was in Choi's favor match-up-wise, but there are times when Nuki made it look really even. 9:44 is probably the highlight for me; Nuki jumps over a Tiger Shot in this round at *just* the right time to perfectly avoid an anti-air sweep from Choi, then Nuki gets a max punish combo that turns the tables for him. Nuki even walks forward a very small distance before jumping so Chun-Li can be in range to make it all happen. The amount of prediction, reaction, adaptation, dexterity, awareness, and game knowledge that went into that single jump is so far beyond what it might look like at first glance.
@@pb879 it’s not that serious, this is barbershop talk. To use a Mike Watson line this was a Neo Geo version of the game. Why do you think Choi was compelled to apologize after the win. He didn’t apologize to Bas about CVS2.
In Super Turbo you can select the non-super version of characters. Sagat has one of the less useful supers, and his old version has a couple other buffs. If you see anyone playing Sagat in ST they are using the old version unless the tournament has banned him.
fun fact: the sagat wasnt even going to attend evo because his father was sick in the hospital. his dad convinced him to go, so he was under prepared. the fact that he won 2 different games under those circumstances is true skill in my opinion.
I liked the part where Choi did the low tiger to uppercut. Seriously though, Nuki is insanely skilled and so much more inventive and adapting. Choi without fireballs on the other hand.....

Japanese players have always refused to use O. Sagat. He's too OP and just boring IMAO. Too bad US players didn't follow suit. It was probably a joke to Japanese players back in the day, knowing that playing in US tournaments meant going up against a bunch of O. Sagats.
I run ST tournaments of my own and imo, O.Sagat isn't banned because he really doesn't need to be. He's super strong, sure, but I don't think he deserves to be banned
@@Mitjitsu That doesn't necessarily mean that you can't overcome that with another character. Banning an entire character from the meta is a decision that must be taken seriously, and saying that "a lack of spectacle" is a worthy reason for a ban will get you laughed at in the FGC

The minute Choi won this he apologized to Nuki. He knew that it was BS and this wasn’t even the arcade version. Nuki brought up the input lags.

I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!
TIGER TIGER TIGER !
Dude spams Fireballs TAS, like a perfect AI. So the dude it's the real life TAS in term of execution and flawless timing.
Pretty much, you are not beating Choi in the fireball war. You have to do other stuff to win. Just look at his sf4 match against Daigo Evo 2014
Absolutely no one can be rooting for this Sagat.
Choi is one of America's best ST players, and we always play second banana to Japan. Problem is that it's Super Turbo, and Choi plays O. Sagat.
I honestly dislike zoners...
But like, old sagat feels like is just anti-game, not even anti-fun
that gyatt was inspirational.
John Choi makes the fireball game look automatic. Perfect sense of timing and mixing up speeds.
Exactly! When people talk about how he is cheap, they show that they don't know how hard keeping up the execution and mix ups are!
Thx for the upload. Great matches

Even if you completely master a game, you have to do dumb shit every now and then just to stay unpredictable.
It's a glitch in the game Chun-Li can do it so can he Honda and Vega
John is still at every final
Tiger shots are way overpowered
How come only Chun Li has the ability to build up super?
