Best controller on the market, even now. Great size, amazing build quality, very versatile, and fantastic sound quality. There are ways around the no booth out issue.
@DigitalDJTips thanks mate... one more question and this count a lot to me.. if you were going to buy a controller between traktor s4, vci 400 and numark 4trak who would you go for and why... thank u very much and really nice videos btw
Thomann definitly ships to the US. Whats the soundcard specs built in your laptop? This would be the most intresting fact (the cpu should easily handle traktor). And you`ll need a dj splittercable for using headphones (one comes around 20 bugs). Then you should be ready using the VCI on a windows system with middle latenzy, until vestax comes up with a real driver update. Latency is very important fo a controllerist.
I've been using a traktor s2 for about 8 months now and I've starting playing in a few small bars and I'm also a residence DJ playing every friday night at a pretty cool little venue. I am looking to hopefully play out as much as i can this year, hopefully bigger venues. I want upgrade to something slightly more professional? I would like to get into using cdjs, but there to expensive for me at the mo. Be wicked if you could point me in the right direction. Cheers
Thank you for all these videos. I began by looking at the S4, was thrown off by lack of booth outs, but in my research I'm thinking those may not be an issue for me, so I am back looking at this and the S4. S4 apparently has sketchy jogs. But, it is made explicitly for Traktor. I'm not really a DJ but my goal is to do live remixing and tweaking of my own tracks, and the whole remix deck in 2.5 is appealing. Should I stick with S4 or can I map this better around samples and effects? Thanks again.
@THEDJSkylerHarris I`ve bought mine from thomann.de thats a german music shop. But please be aware if youre a windows user. The VCI-400 has some driver-problems and works with windows with its built in soundcard with very high latencys (80ms). So if you don´t have a good soundcard built in your pc or a external one, then you should wait a while until Vestax got fix this problem.
Hey phil, I have a vci-400 standard version and am wondering how to reset the mapping file and the hardware unit as well. *i cant remember which buttons to hold down on the 400 to reset the pots/faders*, but im more interested in fixing a problem of the crossfader mapping "glitch" in the default traktor 2 pro mapping. It keeps linking my crossfader to the high eq on channel 2, so when i slide left the high will cut off to the left and vice versa raising dbs to the right. it doesnt do it all the time but would appreciate a lil tip on how to tell traktor that they are drunk and need to read the mapping file again. thanks alot for your vids :)
How did the overlays work. I saw that there are some pdf-files from vestax... but shall I print them on paper and... glue them on the vci400... or are the overlays delivered with the vci400?
Funny I am having the same problem to pick ,.. But I am a hard Traktor User and would love to use the DDj-sx with Traktor, What would the mapping be like to map it? Thanks.
getting the 400 tomorrow minus the cables to the audio device i.e my hifi..wondering before i go purchase the cabling what cables do i need to plug into the aux on my hifi..would it be the master out to aux leads..?--hope to hear from you soon
wow... your review just let me down on this product. i was pretty hyped about it's release, but the fact that you can't use this as a standalong analogue mixer really breaks the deal for me. i loved that this was more portable than an NS6, but the NS6 has the features that are more important to me. unless vestax plans on revamping the design for US release (which i doubt) then i'll reconsider.
+Kertina Production Both are good, here's our review of each: Reloop: www.digitaldjtips.com/2014/02/review-video-reloop-terminal-mix-8-serato-dj-controller/ Vestax: www.digitaldjtips.com/2013/08/review-video-vestax-vci-400dj-serato-dj-controller/ Probably best to go with the Reloop (for now) since the future of Vestax is uncertain (and therefore support for your controller)
I`m a windows user and the vci`s internal card is really useless at the moment. Also the power supply is very loose and makes the vestax switch on and off. So you shouldn`t use it for live gigs.
Love your reviews !! You give an honest opinion, pure factual.
You give me a really good impression of what the unit really is or isn't !!

Great review. Thanks for noting the needs of mobile djs.

@DigitalDJTips :
Now I´ve got one... the overlays are sticker... and there comes only one blank one with the vci.

How does the mode switch work?
Does it change the midi messages sent by the controller or do you map it as a modifier?
@DigitalDJTips can i connect cdjs with vci 400??
how does it work with abelton
Hi Phil, this or the Pioneer DDJ-SX?

It is a hardware mixer with the new firmware.
Hi phil, how is this compared to reloop terminal mix8?

Can you connect another deck to it
Yes you can
s4 or this?
if this was for serato itch it will be a killer 4 deck itch controller!!!
I just ordered one...
i think that its a bit overpriced for the fact that it doesn't come with a full version of either Serato or Traktor

Ah, I see. Thank you!
I want this but i dont want to pay $1000 thought...
@Ryaaaannnnnnn THIS!!!
Cool
