Love this video. Putting the 3.5 inside the 5.0 was a great illustration Thank you
Thank you so much for the great feedback!
Can you give the dimensions of the 5qt vs the 3qt? Specifically inside circumference and depth.
Good video as always! I only have the 3.5 qt because of one reason you didn't cover (but maybe it;s just me because I am getting weaker with disease progression). That reason is the weight. I don't remember what the difference is between the two right off the top of my head, but I do know I use my 3.5 all the time and I tried to pick up a 5 and just about dropped it right in the floor! That thing is incredibly heavy! Also, I normally cook for two, but cook for 6 every weekend when the kids and grandkids come to visit. However, than I almost always have to make two meals due to food allergies, so I if it's a braiser meal it will be one braiser and one 3.5 qt round going. Since I can handle that size better anyway, it's no contest for me.
Oh, and I bought the big round wide thinking it would be easier to use than the 5 qt braiser (as I also have trouble just cooking for two). Nope! It got one use, I almost dropped it twice, and it is now back in its box waiting for me to sell it. Smaller pans for the win for me lol!
I don't know which other countries don't have the 5 qt, but from watching videos of Asian cooks, a LOT of them use the 2.25 as their main braiser. They tend to use smaller pots in general it seems (just going by my sample of TH-cam videos, anyway).
Thank you so much for the great input @raggs!! the 5 quart braiser is a lot heavier and I thought about it 15 minutes after I finished the video, lol. I totally agree that the round wide dutch oven in quite a bit heavier for sure and requires me to use both hands to lift and put away.
Yes, I noticed when we lived overseas most of the pots and pans are smaller sizes or just the regular size, I wish I had thought about collecting the different size pots when we lived in those countries, that would have made an awesome collection, :)
Haha i only cook for myself but still have to cook enough for several meals. It's too bad the 5qt isn't available in the UK.
LOL!!!
Thank you for sharing! I love using my braisers! Great info!
Thank you for watching!!!
By any chance do you also hav the 2.3 qt (26cm) ?
Great question, currently, I don't have the 26 cm. I knew that I would likely need more space so I started with the 3.5qt. I hope that helps. Happy Cooking!
They don't make the 5 qt in Artichaut 😭 But we are only cooking for my husband and I, but we like to make at least 4 portions at a time to have leftovers. Is the 3.5 qt enough?
Oh Yes, the 3.5qt is perfect for that!!!!
Got rid of my 5qt. Way too gigantic seeming. That said, I adore my Fait Tout. 😂 You guys going to DC for FTT next month?
I agree it is pretty big, for sure! We definitely wanted to go but we prep for the farmers market on those same days, I wish they were a little closer, like Raleigh then it would be a day trip, lol
