Generally it has been one health craze after the other that people have latching on to. I should think by now it was obvious that there is an industry just trying to make money off of people by selling them on the next crazy idea as the next cure all solution. You know what I would suggest, and it's free, that besides just making sure you're not eating artificial junk (a real hazard in the US) and actually like what you eat, is to get sleep. Nice healthy amount. Sleeping does an awful lot for a person's health.
"Toxins." What toxin? "Toxins." Yes, but which toxins, specifically? Heavy metals, polychloral biphenols, ? If a mechanic says your car has "Mechanical problems" do you shovel money in his general direction until he says your car is mechanical problem free? Okay, then YTF would you do that with your body?
Who said? I wasn't talking about Adam Connover, I was talking about your friend's Chiropractor, who says that kale cleanses your body of "Toxins." (Or whoever, whatever.) Ask your doctor if dietary advice from your friend's chiropractor, or infomercials for miracle blenders (No, pureeing kale with water doesn't "Unlock" nutrients that eating it raw wouldn't) is right for you?
Incidentally, stop buying almond milk in laminated alluminized cartons (Paper, Plastic, and Aluminum that can't be recycled.) Ingredients: Almonds, Water, a Blender. What do people do? Shake the carton, and pour it in their blenders to make smoothies.
Psiberzerker you actually. You didn’t hit the reply button to whoever you were replying to and therefore your comment wasn’t listed under “View Reply”. You just simply commented so I thought you were referring to Adam. Also I don’t have a chiropractor friend. And I don’t buy almond milk. I hate that stuff.
For those who missed middle school health class - it's called homeostasis! The body is actually pretty good at flushing out excess stuff all on its own. There aren't that many substances that can build up in the body that much faster than the body can get rid if it - lead is one good example. But those substances generally mean that you should go to the doctor.
Important thing to note: fecal impaction is an actual issue that can be helped with high colonics. It is considered more of a last resort type treatment, but it does still have it's uses. It's just not good for the average person.
@Raptor Emojie Lol, you remind me of the story about the owls who had a meeting to decide if the sun was real or not. They decided unanimously that the sun did not exist since they had never seen it. You are like one of these owls. I, however, cannot deny what I have seen & experienced.
Colonic hydrotherapy literally saved my life, although I used the more natural Colimas rather than the colonic machine. I washed out all 5 feet of my lower intestine with 20 gallons of water a day for 14 days straight. There IS built up fecal matter, and it's gross not to do anything about it. The therapist that guided me through it said every single person she treats passes parasites. No one can tell me that it's not a good thing to get parasites out of you. I had been vegetarian for 5 years and still passed a pork-parasite that had been harboring in my intestines for years. I was not harmed by hydrotherapy in any way; it does not cause the symptoms described in this video. This video is extremely ridiculous & untrue. Doctors at the leading edge of science who know about the dangers of the barbaric system of allopathy that just want to sell you drugs, know the value of natural healing.
Soul Whisper You know, some people survive having polio so it's clearly not an issue. See, my hyperbole is basically my way of saying anecdotal evidence does nothing to stop fact. In most cases, these natural remedies do nothing and can actually be harmful.
For your own good, you should be careful speaking in absolutes. By doing so, you imply that you are all-knowing and all-encompassing, and that's just not reality.

People would do ANYTHING but just being humans. Eat normally, don’t sit too long on your couch and you will be fine Also, it worries me how many actual nutritionists and doctors choose some stuff based on “antioxidants” for example. I still remember my teacher in med school complaining specifically about them. Those substances do exists and they do work in our cells. But there is not a single study that shows that eating some “antioxidant rich” food will have any beneficial effect on you. Strawberries are good because they have Vitamin C and generally a healthier option to a chocolate bar, not because they have those magical antioxidants in them

People believing your blood and body can be toxic, is the same as centuries ago people believed that health was dependent on your humors i.e blood, phlegm and bile and how these affected your body.
Nah, common sense is pretty useless when it comes to medicine or science. Evidence, critically examined in the context of all other known evidence is what works best. That means reliance on experts such as doctors and dietitians. And that comes with the caveat that experts are fallible as well, but are most likely to have the best information. Thinking that all alternative health and alternative medicine is fake is a very good rule of thumb.
I think the biggest part to why people still do these is because they want the satisfaction of seeing these “toxins” coming out of their bodies. Like how i want the satisfaction of having soft skin on my feet from these calluses. While my mom tells me it’s pointless because they’ll just come back because they protect my soles.
Adam, I am now getting flak from people because of you. See, years ago my dad drove me nuts while I was in the hospital by watching TruTV shows in my room. He wouldn't leave me alone as he hated the thought of me being alone at the hospital. He also wouldn't stop watching these horrible shows that were causing me sanity loss while I was high on morphine. I've been telling anyone who will listen about your show. Now they've discovered it's on TruTV. While I'm sure I'll never hear the end of it, I wont stop telling people to watch your show. It's that good.
Then I just have one question. Are saunas good for your skin? Like when you sweat does it at least clean out your pores? I’m asking to prevent acne and breakouts.
No. But a good face wash and daily showering (plus a good moisturizer, if your skin dries out like that) will do wonders. I don’t know if you’re male or female, but male and female soaps are different. Make sure you get something for your skin. Try different soaps until you find something that works for you. For me personally, I use a nutragena male face wash with some acne pad stuff that has some acid in it I can’t remember. Then I use a nutragina moisturizer. Those work for me. However, the biggest thing I can recommend is SHOWERING. Shower frequently and well. Wash your hair. Grease from unwashed hair rubbing against my forehead is normally what causes me to breakout.
Fun Fact: Gastroenterologists also deal with your stomach itself. They not only deal with the colon, but they also deal with the rest of the digestive system.
Love how people are all *”EEEEAAAHHHH! Plastic! I need an instant detox now!”* I get oil and trans fluid all over my hands and I breathe in soldering fumes, and I just wash my hands.
Yeah, sometimes they skate over the details. I think the truth is you can't force your body to excrete more waste by sitting in the sauna, and that's what they were trying to get at.
He was wrong about a couple things sometimes the show is frustrating. But sometimes its funny. I am split because I am a smart ass with nothing to watch on TH-cam.
I bought what I thought was a face mask yesterday and it turned out to be those stupid foot pads. I immediately thought of this video. I did them just to see. They do turn black after you wear them, but they also turn black when you run them under the water and start producing a weird odor. Def a rip off!!!!
Agreeing with most of it, but the problem is that hydration actually helps your body detoxifying by helping with regular bowel movements (where the liver puts its toxins) and helping your kidneys as well.
Extra hydration beyond what is necessary doesn't though, as he's arguing specifically against drinking water for the sole purpose of flushing out toxins.
There is no such thing as "too much fibre." Our ancestors ate around 100 grams of fibre daily, and today most get only about 4 to 7 grams daily. That is the cause of most disease, a lack of fibre to feed the flora in our intestines.
I see what you mean, and yes, it is, only because the original creators (CollegeHumor) gave permission for TruTV to put this show on their tv stream and they also uploaded it on their channel.
Toxins are real. Just in the West we call them carcinogens, mutagens, endocrine disrupters, teratogens and neurotoxins. What do you think causes clogged arteries, mucus and loss of sensation like astigmatism
I agree with everything except water. Water is so go for your body! It helps with everything from keeping your skin tissues hydrated and giving you more energy
First of all, I already knew these detox cleanses were a crock of old rubbish, so that didn't surprise me in the least, what did surprise me was 0:44 , I saw ads for those things on television over fifteen years ago: they're still bloody making and selling those things?!
You said water us not a detox er but you flush toxins via urine and bowel movements ? So then if you drink more water wouldn't that help flush toxins quicker since water encourages elimination???
You should point out the fact that if giant bacteria can't get through skin (save spirochetes, which we double glove for) then no "toxins" could. This has to be the best Adam ruins everything. Usually he's taking relatively Benign things and making them sound worse, but this is well done. Could use a bit more detail though, like going into an understanding of GI normal flora, or the skin's layers
The video lumps a lot of things together and concludes that "detox" is bad. There are foods and herbs that naturally support the liver and other organs responsible for removing harmful chemicals. They might support enzymes that do the same. Always be skeptical of "detox" diets, patches and other programs. Scientific literacy is important. Find out how to determine what works. I can't imagine myself buying those patches. I could however, see myself eating broccoli, chard, garlic, guduchi and other things that help the body get rid of some unhelpful chemicals.
the aim of the video what to talk about the misleading info of artificial detoxing like the cleanings - not so much the nutrition. That would be I think more appropriate for a separate video.
He appears to claim that there is no such thing as the body removing toxins. He's not just "debunking" patches. The title of the video makes a blanket statement about "detox cleanses" and that they're always fake. Maybe the title is just poorly worded, but that's its clear message. Adam didn't completely think through the subject. If he's correct, then you would remain drunk forever after a few drinks. .
The title is correct and he never said the body doesn't get rid of toxins, he said its not yours skin's job to rid the body of toxins. He clearly states that organs such as the liver , kidneys, and lungs are what remove toxins.
You're right. He is specific about that. The liver also transforms some chemicals into others that are water soluble. Some of them can exit through the excretory system and/or skin. There are also compounds in foods that can mobilize some substances so they can be delivered to the liver, kidneys, etc. The science on this is very complex. It's generally not a good idea to assume that absence of proof is proof of absence. It's possibly a more complex process than the patch people and the skeptics give it credit for. The mental constructs held by medical researchers will likely evolve over time. About the title: It's too overgeneralized to be "correct".
You don't need to help your liver/kidneys, they work perfectly fine on their own and there is no proof that ANY herbs make them 'stronger'. If your organs weren't working properly, you'd know, and go to the doctor. Stop falling for scams.
How exactly? How does creating suction on the outside of the skin have any effect on muscle tissue well under the skin? Sounds like more scamming to me. Also anyone who performs this sort of thing is almost guaranteed to have no real medical or health qualifications.
It works just like a massage. I feel amazing and loose after cupping. A massage would do the same but cupping is cheaper and easier on the persons hands.
Adam maybe do a episode that affects the entire world and not only episodes that are American misconception the titles "Adam ruins everything" not Adam ruins American misconceptions
no Jacob he was serious. Every other country has Genius aliens who have solved all problems with the world and it's only the US stuck in a rut because of how stupid people are.
Cupping helps with muscle tension and blood flow not detox My mamas a massage therapist and she owners a day spa She also does cupping and does not detox
saw this from wikipedia: Though water doesn't necessarily neutralize toxins, the kidneys do use water to get rid of certain waste products. If you don't drink enough water, your kidneys don't have the amount of fluid they need to do their job properly.
My doctor just told me I was so backed up that I needed to drink 6 glasses of Gatorade ( or other fluid) mixed with miralax, and need to drink a glass a day of that stuff for the next few weeks. Fun stuff, I tell ya.
actually, i have done a gastroscopy and before that i had to do a colon cleanse. the way i did it was i took a solution amd that makes you have to go to the bathroom and cleans out your colon till what comes out is white
I had a gastroenterologist once to figure out why I was in so much pain. It ended up being Interstitial Cystitis, and he made me get a colonoscopy at the age of 20 just so he could make sure the pain wasn't coming from my large intestine. I have the pictures to prove it, and when I woke up I was in severe pain from all the air they pump into your colon.

He was wrong about a couple things sometimes the show is frustrating. But sometimes its funny. I am split because I am a smart ass with nothing to watch on TH-cam.
I know, he is so Wrong about that.

0:14 almost fell off my chair. Yes, my blood is toxic. Vampires hate me.
I bought what I thought was a face mask yesterday and it turned out to be those stupid foot pads. I immediately thought of this video.
I did them just to see. They do turn black after you wear them, but they also turn black when you run them under the water and start producing a weird odor. Def a rip off!!!!
Eat a balanced diet. Exercise. Get regular sleep. And manager stress. Do these things & your mind, body & spirit will be happy & healthy.
To be fair, massages are a good way to move lactic acid that builds up around the muscles
Your Facebook friends have been sucked into repackaging these 'cleanses' as 'nutritional systems'
This professional doctor seems so happy while joking.
When this video was playing I was wondering if the Sims 3 was still running on my computer.
These videos are getting better and better.
Personally i think the best "detox" are fruits and infused water. Now those are good for your body, they keep you healthy, and you feel good.
There is no such thing as "too much fibre." Our ancestors ate around 100 grams of fibre daily, and today most get only about 4 to 7 grams daily. That is the cause of most disease, a lack of fibre to feed the flora in our intestines.
2nd reupload?
Dee B so 3rd upload in other words
I see what you mean, and yes, it is, only because the original creators (CollegeHumor) gave permission for TruTV to put this show on their tv stream and they also uploaded it on their channel.

Toxins are real. Just in the West we call them carcinogens, mutagens, endocrine disrupters, teratogens and neurotoxins. What do you think causes clogged arteries, mucus and loss of sensation like astigmatism
Isn't she the girl on That B**** in Apt B?
[2:30] _"Footpads were a lot less gross."_ Those organs are in you, lady!
Then explain how I passed a drug test after doing one...
I agree with everything except water. Water is so go for your body! It helps with everything from keeping your skin tissues hydrated and giving you more energy
Water is the cure for everything, wanna lose weight, drink water, want better skin? drink water! Annoying person?
Except the point isn't that water is bad - it's that drinking way too much water is dangerous. Overhydration is a real thing.
When I go to sauna, the 'toxins' I am removing are ones on my skin. And possibly in my spores. But definitely warming up my skin.
Where's the button that will allow me to share this video with someone without offending their worldview so much that they never talk to me again?
Dang, I thought half of the stuff they mentioned was for relaxation/helping with muscle stress lol
First of all, I already knew these detox cleanses were a crock of old rubbish, so that didn't surprise me in the least, what did surprise me was 0:44 , I saw ads for those things on television over fifteen years ago: they're still bloody making and selling those things?!
indeed the *only* way to de-tox is to.... eat healthy and exercise. alas this method does not have high profit margins and takes effort.

Where did Adam get those organs
they're fake
Where'd you get yours?
Obviously from the black market
From the people who died because they tried to cure their cancer with acupuncture.
Thanks! How can one get around all the additives and the inorganic produce and products?
We probably can use some kinda help.

Kathleen Higgins buy organic or vote for people who aren’t in the business of siding with big business.
Kathleen Higgins inorganic? Cyanide is organic, want some of that?
@@christianrapper Kind of impossible on the voting part, both major political parties and the three major third parties are for big business.
Just eat a bunch of variety of vegetables in daily meals and your body will thank you in every way . Oh also intermittent fasting 😉
I love at 1:46 the Asian dude behind her looks disapprovingly at the blonde girl getting loud at the spa:)
Oh my god that's my doctor. Dr Mullin was talking about this today and I thought he was joking. That's amazing

Cupping's good for the muscles, but no, it's not a method of detox.

Cupping helps with muscle tension and blood flow not detox
My mamas a massage therapist and she owners a day spa
She also does cupping and does not detox
saw this from wikipedia:
Though water doesn't necessarily neutralize toxins, the kidneys do use water to get rid of certain waste products. If you don't drink enough water, your kidneys don't have the amount of fluid they need to do their job properly.
I once tried detox footpads, Used a pair every night for a month, not one of them got dirty overnight.
Water helps in removing toxins and colon cleansing is good if you suffer from constipation.
Adam really ruins everything 😂😂😂
I LMAO when Adam used the terms pee-pee and poo-poo! What are we preschoolers?!😂
