I’m sharing this with some close friends who are going through a faith transition. This song meant so much to be during my own transition, and it still does.
I hate the fact that most people who leave Christianity are doing it because of some horrific cult-y abuse they've suffered - like if you read the Bible and knew nothing about human history, you would expect the opposite, and it should indeed be the opposite, so in effect we are abusing people and shooting ourselves in the foot in the process, all while thinking we're doing the right thing and holier-than-thou (what part about "put others before yourself", including all the times that instruction is given to people with power over others, don't they understand????)
