- Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora took home a split-decision over the previously unbeaten Tim Tszyu to capture the WBC and WBO 154-Pound World Titles.
One judge scored the fight 116-112 for Tszyu, but was overruled by scores of 116-112 and 115-113 for Fundora.
"We've been praying for this moment for a long time and I'm just happy that Tim Tszyu gave me the opportunity and the opportunity became my dream come true,” said Fundora.”
Tszyu (24-1, 17 KOs) looked in control in the first two rounds, almost landing straight right hands at will before running into an incidental elbow from Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs) in round two that opened a massive cut on the top of his head. After receiving an inspection from the ringside physician, Tszyu fought on, but was clearly affected by the blood caused from the cut.
"I'm a throwback fighter and whatever circumstances come up, I'll keep going,” said Tszyu. “But all credit belongs to the man who won tonight. These things happen. My momentum was rolling in the first two rounds and then boom, you're blinded completely. This is boxing, it's part of the sport.”
With his opponent’s vision compromised, Fundora, who was dealing with blood flowing out of his nose following round two, focused on using his tremendous length to consistently pepper Tszyu with jabs and further disrupt his attack. Most of Fundora’s success with power punches came via the left hand, as he was able to land clean shots from the southpaw stance.
"I didn't want to break my nose today, but this is my life and this is boxing,” said Fundora. “I just had to be smart. I used my brain. I hope you saw me use my boxing skills tonight.”
According to CompuBox stats, Fundora out-jabbed Tszyu 93-39 and threw 721 punches to Tszyu’s 400. Tszyu held an impressive 44% connect rate, but despite a 136 to 101 edge in power punches, was never able to seriously hurt Fundora.
"I show up no matter what and always bring the fight,” said Tszyu. “There's no excuses. I'll fight whoever, whenever. If you want a good scrap, you know who to call."
"Tszyu is a world champion for a reason,” said Fundora. “It's an honor to share the ring and make history with him.”
Fundora became the second world champion in his family, following his sister Gabriela, the current IBF Flyweight World Champion, with both trained by their father Freddy. After the fight, top pound-for-pound contender and former unified world champion Errol Spence Jr. entered the ring to express his interest in a matchup with Fundora, which the newly crowned champion quickly welcomed.
"Errol is one of the pound for pound greats,” said Fundora. “So fighting him and getting a win would be history for me."
"It's time to get it on,” said Spence. “He's got the big dog now. It's my first time seeing him in person. He's got good height, but we'll break him down.”

Tim tszyu deserves a rematch.
yeah ...i love Tim Tszyu😊
Facts you right
100 percent... Fundora was getting pieced up would have been lucky to survive past rnd 4. Cut on Tszyu changed the fight.
Nah
NAH 👎🏾 this was a classic move to stop Tim's progression it's called the bait and switch disgusting they should have pulled out of this fight just like Keith did 🥊 and then give Tim time to adjust his training from someone who is 5'9 to 6'6 that was almost CRIMINAL 💯The truest form of cheating
A 6'6 junior middleweight is wild to me.
Insane!!
He's rail thin all bones not surprised he can make the weight easily he probably walks around at 160-165
And he couldn't even knock the man out for 8 out of twelve rounds. With that reach and the man couldn't see. The fact he won by a split decision tells you everything you need to know.
@@kenilousjackson9488doesn’t tell me anything, he won. This is the fight game stuff happens.
If it's something creepy with skeletal legs
Tszyu's hip movement and his counterattack are very beautiful to look at, precision, agility and power🔥🔥
You can tell the cut dramatically changed the fight tszyu is to skilled
he aint gonna want a direct rematch he pulled out of the ortiz fight they first agreed than didnt that cut has properly healed he had enough time to train 3 months
@@tekken946 he actually said the cut wasn’t healing properly…
@@treflock7002 excuses it it was another fighter he would of taken the fight, he fought on March 24, 5 months to heal and he could of started sparring in July!! A whole month or in August leading up to the fight, a lot of Tim Tszyu fans talk bad about Ortiz!! Since the majority of pbc fans hated fundora for beating lubin so Lubins fans are Tim Tszyu fans
It’s not excuses, why put his health even more at risk than necessary
What about the towers broken nose. He couldn’t even breath through his nose
this fight was a reminder how brutal boxing could be its actually insane these guys were fighting with so much heart out there refusing to be knocked. very inspirational
Should have been a no contest accidental elbow, that cut was huge affecting Tim's vision
I don't think so because he was the one who ran his head into the guy's elbow.
Agreed 💯 it completely changed the contrast of the fight, Tim desperately looking for the finish b-cause he knew he was on borrowed time.

thats what it looks like the blood interfered with him attacking and staying poised.
Yay
I don’t think so
Yup you can see he already timed the speed and distance of fundura before the cut
@@AlbertoGarcia-hk6jdNigga was landing those fight hands at will before the cut but don’t think he would’ve won 😂
I still cannot believe how Tim Tszyu able to fight upto Round 12. How the hell he endure this
For sure but i got to recognize Fundora. That nose non stop bleeding and his punch rate did not decrease. He found a way. Both guys a problem at 154 for anyone.
Julio César Martínez had a massive cut in his eyebrows and blood was going inside his eyes in that same night and he still won the fight.

Props to fundora. Definitely a legit champ but tszyu would’ve beat him about 10-2 if he didn’t get cut. Tszyu is the clearly the better fighter but ofc you can say if to anything. I expect tszyu to build himself back up to being a champ within the next year.

Tim was winning the fight until he got cut, and once Fundora saw the blood Fundora fought harder and landed more blows to Tim because Tim couldn't see out of his eyes because of the blood.
Tszyu needs that rematch or the winner of spemce vs Fundora.
Two points I'd like to express here. First, before watching this video, I was already highly impressed with Tim Tszyu. After seeing his post-fight interview, I am even more impressed. He was gracious in defeat, gave credit to his opponent, and made no excuses. Second, and a little off topic but here goes. The NHL had the Sutter brothers, six of the toughest and most ornery players in the league. Major League Baseball had the Molina brothers, 3 in total and every one of them played catcher. A position that is like a coach on the field, requires the intelligence to call the game as part of the battery (pitcher and catcher), and the courage and toughness to take the physical punishment that every catcher knows is inevitable. Then the NFL where a family had multiple generations represented. The Matthews family had 7 members to play for various teams in pro football. Which leads me to boxing where the Tszyu family name is reigning above all others. I feel lucky to be living to admire and appreciate their talent, toughness, courage, and success. I'm out!

Am I tripping or was this at the very least a draw? Or are soft jabs more effective than damn hooks and body punches
Tim landed the better punches.. elbow to the head completely changed the outcome of the fight. Should have at least been a draw.
The jabs was still points he out scored tf outta him
Tszu Fans be like "ONLY TSZU WAS THE ONE BLEEDING, TSZU WAS DOMINATING THE WHOLE FIGHT 😂😂(2 ROUNDS)

Necesitamos una revancha inmediata de estas dos bestias,Tszyu y Fundora demostraron que son un espectáculo garantizado
Y’all need to do this more often
I had Tim Tszyu winning 115-113, even though Fundora outlanded and outthrew Tszyu I think the accuracy and quality lied with the loser. Couple close rounds though, can see how it went to Fundora, Tszyu 100% wins the rematch without any accidents but thats what happens sometimes.
They got the date wrong it’s supposed to be be 2024 not 2023
I hope Tank and Benavidez's fights will have an early full fight video
Tim Tszyu was a better fighter but it was Fundora's night. He has way more experience in these wars and it help him out big time.
Undeniably two warriors! But you can’t make me believe that Tim would’ve lost this fight without that cut. He had him figured out. I believe he would’ve stopped fundora.
Agreed

7:20 Tszyu breaks Fundora's nose. You can see him wincing after the shot
I really dont see how he lost, he was doing way better
This my first time watching Tim Tszyu.. had a 9 reach disadvantage, landed more power shots and had a crazy cut.. I watch him again.. need a rematch
Watch his votesport video on TH-cam. Dudes an animal.
I saw Tzsu connecting the cleanest punches even when blinded with accidental bleeding and one judge saw him winning they need to run it again it not fare to let this slide just like that
Tim was so comfortable before the cut.
Tszyu is so clever and efficient. He puts his weight on his rear leg and leans slightly back. He can bring his feet forward while still seeming out of range because his head is farther back when in reality he's already in range
Canelo uses this method as well
Cameo leans forward first, then steps his back foot forward (before he steps his front foot forward) and leans back as he steps his front foot up so that his head is in the same place, but now his feet are closer, deceiving his opponent with his head distance. Bivol capitalized on the split second when his stance was narrow, between steps, and his lack of balance in those moments
Except canelo has way better head movement and isn't so square.
I asked AI what was the most bloodiest recent boxing match and it said this one, so im giving it a watch
You sicko. Hahaha. Just kidding.
Couldn’t be bothered rewatching beyond round two.
Tszyu loaded more than half a dozen clean right hands and broke Fundora nose.
Fight wouldn’t have lasted 4 rounds if it wasn’t for the massive cut on Tszyus head.
This is the bloodiest boxing match I’ve ever seen in my life and I am 58 years old. It’s awesome.
I don't think you can take anything away from Fundora, he fought a good fight and in my opinion, deserved the win. How would it have panned out if Tszyu wasn't cut? We don't know. There is no rehearsal for a boxing match and what happens in the fight, happens. Both these guys are champions and it was a great fight. And for the record, I am an Australian and proud of how Tim took defeat in the spirit of the game. I would like to see a re-match of these two great fighters and maybe it might happen one day.
Reeeaaally appreciate this! Thank you PBC!!!🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊
This is one of the most Bloodiest fight that I've ever seen in Boxing! Fundora's elbow made a huge cut in Tszyu's head.. Blood never stops flowing as the fight goes on. Fundora looks so damn tall for Tszyu but still an amazing fight the Bloodiest fight ever in Boxing!
What a fight between these two warriors! A truly spectacular performance! Hats off to for both of them! Can’t wait for Tim tszyu vs Vergil Ortiz! It’s going to be a war of boxing 🥊!!
Who’s gonna tell em
Tszyu showed unbelievable will and next lever determination to WIN, it should have been a no contest. No one did him any favours allowing the fight to continue. Had the fight been stopped he would have felt robbed though as he was certain he was going to win no matter what.
Props to Fundora for being able to withstand those massive shots in the first couple of rounds.
That said Tszyu would have won by KO had he not been blinded by a half litre of blood falling out of his head and impairing his vision.
Harapan kita Tyzu and Pundora tinju ulang jilid,2.
The smart move was Tim's corner push for the fight to get stopped soon as the cut happened. Considering how bad it was imo. Especially because if the fight gets stopped by doc within 4 rds it's a draw or no contest right? That way it wasn't a loss for Tim or Fundora. And Tim would have his belt.
Tszyu is the heart of the champion
I LMAO'd when, in Round 8 @ timestamp 34:30, one of the announcers said something like "Tim Tszyu became a MUCH...different...fighter, when his FACE became a crimson mask!!!" 😆😅😂🤣
Now THAT'S just great commentary! 😃
Mauro Ranallo is so damn creative 😭🤣

No cut. He stops fundora

Jesus, i wonder how much blood he had lost
hoping to make it to this grade of fighting in time!
Bro was beating him bad till he got cut but he did it to himself
So happy for Dhalsim. he actually did it. Feel for Tszyu though he is a real fighter in such a close fight
First the doctor shud have stopped the fight when Tim got elbowed. Secondly it's unfair for normal guys 5'8 5"10 against 6.6 feet. This dude only fucking jabs. Rematch: Tim breaks this mf ribs and then gives him brain issues ko in the 6th. RIP 6.6
The blood was a hindrance to Tszyu, they should get a rematch.
I don't think so because he was the one who ran his head into the guy's elbow.
All I keep hearing is the cut on Tim’s head blinding him as if fundora nose wasn’t leaking causing him to breath out his mouth. They both was at a disadvantage not just Tim
Exactly they just hate on fundora for whatever reason. Fundora is a beast imagine having that long asa awkward body but you become a professional fighter and surpass anyones expectations not to mention he took this fight on weeks notice after a KO loss 🔥
How is breathing out your mouth and not being able to see the same thing 😂?
@@tw.9910The guy is literally swallowing his own blood, Plus it wasn’t just a regular nose bleed his nose was actually broken.
@@Chester10470 If you say so 😂. Tim was up 2-0 and was landing at will in the second round. The cut changed the fight buddy

You can tell tim having that cut gave fundora a lot of confidence
Crawford vs Tszyu would absolutely make my year!
I watched it live & now watching it the second time it's insane for anyone to say that Fundora earned this win.
Spence will beat fundora. I don’t see him out working or outboxing Spence
After every round I kept saying the same thing to myself... " what a blood bath." Crimson classic!!
Wow, new found (massive) respect to Tim, still lighting this kid up, take a fucking bow sir, straight warrior
I didint know much about these two before the fight. I became massive fans of both after.
41:22 and finish it before he.... bleeds to death? You would think they'd use some basically superglue to close the outer skin to try and hold SOME of the blood back and with it on TOP of his head, that could work cuz the punches are going mostly to the front of his face. I guess boxing either hasn't progressed to that level or it's not allowed to repair a cut that way during a fight. You just need something that would hold strong as skin and dry within seconds.
Fundora and Spence fan. That's a 50/50 fight at this point.
How ?😂
It's interesting that Spence vs Crawford is yet to be released... The silence speaks volumes
why the corners dont have any adrenaline i dont know! i see other cut men stop that instantly
why they dont have it for a prize fight on tv is just bad cut men not even enough towels using the same little wash rag for the whole fight smh
Nice!
This was an insane battle. Of course, the cut COMPLETELY changed the trajectory of this fight. But as boxing fans, you gotta love and respect the heart and grit both men showed in this fight. Tszyu might have lost but this was a legacy fight by him.
There's a real honest reason why no one is talking about the winner of this fight.
I just saw the fight... wtf where is the rea f#@$king cut man? I have a medical background.. let me tell you,, whoever worked the cuts did not know what they were doing..
One of the bloodiest fight I’ve seen
A clear disadvantage for both fighters. Fundora broken nose 👃 is crazy. Breathing through the mouth drinking your own blood 🩸 and still going 12 rounds is bananas
TBC VS SPENCE PLEASE!!!
Tsyu a savage for fighting thru that cut
Fundora needs to watch a lot of Tommy hearns which Tommy was still alive . He needs to use his length with speed and quickness to avoid shots and get that quick snap on his counter shots. Can develop a lot of pop with that length in you throw with speed and precision threw the target .
Tszyus fight if he hadn’t been cut. He a badass.
Props to Fundora for hanging in there.
Fundora got a nice break with that accidental headbutt, Tim was on his way to stopping him. I do like Fundora he is a warrior and had good rest from the previous knock out from Mendoza. I am looking forward to see these two again in the future. Spence has no business fighting Fundora, that's a tune up for Fundora.
it was an elbow sir
@joeledesma-yj8zo Yes it was 💯 it was a very sharp elbow.
I don't think so because he was the one who ran his head into the guy's elbow.
@The_RealWilliam Actually if you look at carefully you can see Fundora pivoted his left elbow towards Tim's head and then he brought the head back with it and that cause the cut. If it was just a case where Tim moved towards the elbow, then the cut wouldn't have been severe.
@@fightsforrights Why do you have to look very carefully? Are you trying to find something that's not there? He literally went in head first. lol
