Plush Making 201: Making Scent Packs for Plushies

  • This video walks through how I made scent packs for a plush by using sachet beads and fragrance oils. This is one of the ways to make a plush scented. This is a reupload of a previous video with some audio corrections (I kept calling them "essential oils" but it's "fragrance oil" 🤦‍♀️).
    Sachet beads are a special type of plastic bead that can soak up scented fragrance oils without melting. You can control the amount of oil used to make the scent weaker or stronger, but make sure not to go over the capacity prescribed in the beads you purchase. I used a ratio of 3 tbsp of sachet beads with 9 drops of fragrance oil, but the amount of oil you use may vary by preference and the type of scent you choose, as some scents may be stronger than others. Try starting with a test batch of a lower amount of drops and add more as needed after letting them sit for a few days.
    I purchased my sachet beads and fragrance oils here:

    Omigod, you absolute goddess. I've been to try adding scent to some of my plushies, but I wasn't sure how to go about it. Summer can't get here soon enough for me to try this out!

    Thanks for this tutorial, I was looking for a shop that would send in France these beads without charging a massive amount of fees. And there we go, Natures Garden Candle saved my purse and my nerve and my customer will hopefully see their "scented plush" request succesfully done in few day !
    Thanks a looooot

    Thank you so much for making this tutorial (and all of your other tutorials too)!
    I have a question-- you said that regular poly pellets will melt if you put the oil on them. But after everything dries and you seal the scented beads in the packet, can you use poly pellets to stuff the plush? Or will they melt if they touch the packet?

    • @makeshiftwingsplush
      @makeshiftwingsplush  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      nope once the beads soak up all the oil it's fine! they will be isolated in the pack anyway :)

    Hello! I have a question do you have any advice for a person who want their plushies scented but have to go through a manufacture to get their plushies made?

    • @makeshiftwingsplush
      @makeshiftwingsplush  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i've heard that there are sprays out there but i havent used them myself. otherwise, i can only think of possibly making the sachet bags yourself and ask them to use a zipper instead of hand sewing it closed so you can insert the bag

      I love that! As a cat lover I'd say you do more than just purrfect on them.
      Also, I have a cat fursona, so seeing cat plushies just fills me with joy!
