There is so much meaning in this song but what really stands out to me is the subtle parallels drawn between both kids; showing them both with their own pain and fear. In the end, the boy in the bubble shows the other kid how to live in a safe bubble in order to protect himself, even though he lives "in a broken bubble". To create his own, safe, bubble when his family bubble is broken. What an amazing song.

I don’t know if this is incorrect but I interpret this song as how not fighting back and “being the bigger person” is sometimes the better decision. When he says “come the lighting and the thunder, you’ll the one who’ll suffer” and “I know you want the satisfaction it’s not going to happen”I think he’s referring by to how later in life, the bullies will be the ones who suffer is they continue down this path of abuse and violence and that even tho they beat him up, he’s not going to give in and give them the satisfaction of making him angry or upset. That’s just how I interpreted the song. Also, I love your music Alec! This was one of the firsts song I listen to when I found about his music. :)))

A lil analysis of the song/video:
-the song switches between three perspectives: the boy, the bully, the narrorator.
-the boy is victim of bullying, however, the bully is also bullied by the dad. "Son you gotta tell me why you're black and blue" could be referring to the bully being beaten by the dad (or the boy, or both, same for a lot of other lyrics). Also, "He was scared to go home every night" (the lyric along those lines) refers to the bully being scared to go home because of his abusive father.
-The boy is richer and better off than the bully
-The boy's astronaut helmet is symbolic of protection. The boy has the helmet on because he needs protection from the bully.
-At the end, he takes of his helmet, and hands it to the bully. This is a symbolic guesture symbolizing the boy's realization that the bully needs protection more than him (from the dad), as he is a witness of the dad's abuse
-The time is night, possibly visually presenting the idiom, "at the end of the day", which translates to "ultimately", in essence.
SO
"At the end of the day" the boy is protected, because he has a safer house, and the bully can hurt him all he wants, but the boy will be safer, and have a better future.

The "helmet" is actually the bubble. The kid gave it to the bully because he was showing him who the true boy in the bubble was. Everyone thought it was the kid with glasses, but the whole time it was the bully who felt alone and oppressed.

alec's songwriting is underappreciated. yeah, his voice is unique and really nice to listen to, but if you pay attention to the lyrics he uses a lot of metaphors and figurative language. not a lot of mainstream music today has this type of meaning in the lyrics. alec's songs always tell a story and unlike telling it directly he likes us to interpret it and i think that's amazing. he really deserves more recognition.
