I was in some Spanish airport on a school trip and I was meant to be coming back to the uk and the Spanish guy ‘selected’ me and 2 other hijabis even tho the metal detector didn’t go off. He told us to take our scarves off and I said no. He then proceeded to roll his eyes and put this drug detecting wand all over our heads. Other MEN didn’t get pulled aside but the underage hijabis did.

Being a Sikh with a turban, I was used to these sorts of checks. You have to understand, they're there for our safety and we need to allow them to do their jobs. Most of the staff are super respectful so we need to be understanding too.

I faced a situation which was back in 2005. I was either still in Canada or at Heathrow airport. I wore hijab back then. While we were waiting for the plan a lady traveler asked me if I could hold her bag and watch it while she went to the bathroom. Now by default I am a helpful person and I wanted to help her. But it was only 4 years after 9-11 and I already got intimidated out my job on 9-11. I wasn't going to take any risk of her trying to frame me or maybe she had drugs in there I didn't know her. I said I am sorry but I have to protect myself and my reputation and it's a bit suspicious that you can easily take your bag into bathroom with you and why did you pick ME, to take your bags from you. I said you are more of a threat to me right now then I am to you so no I will not hold your bag. Of course I felt guilty later for not helping her but you can't let people play on your guilt when you don't if someone has bad intentions or not. SO don't ever accept a bag from someone if you don't know who they are. On the flight back home I heard someone say, "who that Arab lady up there"? SO I have no idea if someone was trying to accuse me of something but the plane staff didn't say anything to me so I have no idea what that was about. Meanwhile I am not an Arab. I am actually Cree Native Canadian and Irish mixed but chose Islam as a faith. So my skin is white but because I wore hijab they assumed I was an Arab terrorist. People in the comments are saying that airport staff is just doing their job. Well, so are the cops that stop Black people on the roads but we do call them out for racial targeted don't we? But how dare a Muslim object to anything right. Hypocrites.

I am Muslim too man and have had to go through pretty strict security checks at the airport (but so did everyone else). They're trying to keep you and the other passengers safe. I have no problem with it as long as I am treated equally and I honestly have nothing to hide. May Allah keep you safe and grant you Jannah and success in all your travels. Ameen.

I'm from Europe, flew twice this year and both times I had to take off my shoes, my bags were fully checked, the same as many other none Muslims. A tall Dutch man was even checked for drugs with a swipe, and he looked like a business man. This happens not only to Muslims.

There's an airport that I don't want to mention where they asked me to strip down my hijab. I told them I can't and was lucky that there was one guy understood why. I kept my hijab and board my plane.

I was so grateful for another officer at the gate because he was more emphatic. I honestly couldn't imagine how you felt though. It's unfair, but as for us Muslim woman, hijab is an attire for modesty, and many other Muslim aren't wearing hijab yet, they're also still a Muslim.

I had to strip down to my boxers as a Muslim kid leaving from Abu Dabi once
I was kind of confused
They also had me stop at TSA when we landed back in America and I was only 12 years old
They didn’t question my mother AT ALL but they were on me constantly.
And it didn’t bother me as much until I realized why they didn’t treat others the same way or why I didn’t see anyone else being treated this way.
They made us wait in the TSA waiting room for 2 hours after the flight- only to tell us that it’s ok for us to leave all of a sudden.

I was flying from Saudi Arabia to my Home Country and they checked us without belt, shoes as same even we’re Muslims. And when I was flying to Japan the Japanese Immigration never asked 1 question even my Nationality is also not that powerful.
