  • People in Channel-Port aux Basques, Newfoundland and Labrador will be rebuilding their lives in the aftermath of post-tropical storm Fiona.
    Mike Drolet speaks with residents about the terror they survived, and hears how one man fought for his life after being swept out to sea.
    Thousands of residents and businesses in Nova Scotia have also been left powerless after the post-tropical storm.
    As Shallima Maharaj reports from Glace Bay, crews are working around the clock to restore electricity.

      I'm so grateful for Stu rescuing his brother Smokey. He can't swim (not that it would have helped at the time). I'm also grateful that Jocelyn had her brother-in-law and neighbours around to rescue her. George, why are you assuming they forgot?
      The reporter said "Many of them LIVED through countless storms" and "This was the first hurricane they truly felt scared"
      He is speaking about their life experience. Nobody from 1775 is alive today so there is nothing wrong with what he said.
      There is no need to be snarky. Especially over your assumptions!

      @@carlosp8697 , with an attitude like that you sound like an Upper Canadian. Contrary to what you wrote, I said nothing about them experiencing the 1775 hurricane; but i did assume that anyone living on the coast of NFLD. would be aware of a hurricane in wh9ich an estimated 4,000 people, mostly seafarers died. What I was referring to was their reported belief that the "offshore Islands would act as natural storm breakers". Perhaps in your haste to spout off you missed that.

    • @carlosp8697
      @carlosp8697 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@georgejenkins3371 I'm not the one with the attitude... It's you that is more focused on what WASN'T said rather than the tragedy itself!
      I am very aware what you said and what you meant to say, it's you that is having trouble reading. I was quoting the reporter, not you... Thats enough evidence for me to question your reading abilities.
      Most people give their condolences to the ones affected and show their love and support. You in the other hand, you make snarky comments and assumption that they don't know their history. Why?
      If people around you are on fire, and a reporter talks about their pain. Pain that they have never experienced before in their lifetime! What is the point about talking about a bigger fire that happened in 1775? Why would anyone assume the reporter is not aware of this bigger fire? Does the bigger fire matter at this point? Only a sad individual like yourself is talking about the big fire of 1775 when the people around you are in pain.
      Stop it and grow up, start focusing on what truly matters!
