58:49 - April 16, 1950 - Benny says _"The country is thinking of admitting Alaska and Hawaii as states..."_ It would take nine more years; Alaska was admitted January 03, 1959 and Hawaii on August 21 of the same year. The 49th star was added to the U.S. flag on July 04, 1959 and the 50th on July 04, 1960.
It amazing to hear Jolson just five months before his death. May he rest in peace.
