Further into the narrative we are able to see Judas changing. He's disappointed and confused by his Rabbi. Judas' lack of understanding will blind him from the truth and his end will be tragic. I saw Luke at the first ChosenCon, and Dallas was asked about Judas being in season 5 and 6, and Dallas said Luke would be “hanging around.” Everyone laughed, and Dallas asked if it was too soon to make the joke?
He simply fell for deceit from Satan like most of us humans. This series has finally helped me understand the actions of many individuals including Judas. It all HAD to happen for the rest of us to be saved!

I see Judas not as a “betrayer” but as trying to rush Jesus to be the military leader. I believe he thought Jesus would walk away unharmed and when he didn’t, Judas was overwhelmed with despair.

I worked as a floral designer for 35 years. I totally understand how close you can get to your co-workers when you trauma bond. When you put in 16 hour days and have to go home and sleep four hours and then come back and do it again there is a connection, in the pain, that you make with the other people going through it with you. They are some of the most painful, fun, and downright joyful moments that you experience while working. I totally get it.
Awhile back,I saw a reel or a BTS video of Luke singing and dancing on The Chosen set. It was so good, and some of the actors also joined in. I think Jordan and Simon Z (sorry, can’t remember that actor’s real name). But I would love to see that video again. Any chance!
The first conversation between Judas and Jesus in The Chosen was painful when Jesus asked if he was ready to do some hard work. I felt sad for Judas, I’ve always felt sad for the part he had to play in the redemption history.
I appreciate how Judas has been portrayed. He's just one of the twelve. He loves Jesus, and wants to learn to be an effective follower. But he becomes so misguided. It's sad, but I can see how it happened. I'm glad that I have a different way to perceive him, other than as a villain from the start. But it makes his path even more tragic, because we have come to care about him. It it so painful.
That first time we see Judas sneak a bit of money, we know that it would get easier and easier to do more and more. But when Mary Magda relapses, she goes to Jesus and when he forgives her, he comforts her by asking, “did you think you were never going to tempted or troubled?” Jesus gives her the strength and the courage to try again. I have seen so many people giving into temptation once and then giving up because they think well. I’ve messed up, so no use trying again. 🙏🙏🙏

Out of curiosity, do you know how Judas actually died? We know from reading Matthew's account that he hung himself, but Luke, who was a doctor, adds a bit more detail that might be a little confusing. Luke says that Judas fell headlong and burst open in the middle and all his entrails gushed out. Yes, he hung himself, and death is inferred by the passage, but then his body hung in the hot sun of Jerusalem for possibly a couple of days, and the heat would speed up considerably the time bacteria took to decompose the cells and tissue, which created gas, which would make his body bloat. Basically, his body became a balloon. We can assume the branch he had hung himself on eventually broke, and his body splattered everywhere. The smell would have been unbelievable. How do I know this? I was an autopsy assistant.
Seems like Luke keeps slipping into Robin Williams. I've been saying, since they first introduced Luke as Judas, that he has such a sweet face, you just know he's going to break your heart 💔
