- Featuring cameo appearances by Chris and Jayne themselves, this short film, Mass Bolero, was conceived and directed by Fiona Buffini, Associate Director of Nottingham Playhouse, in partnership with Dance4, Confetti Media Group and Spool and choreographed by Jeanefer Jean-Charles.
Mass Bolero stars hundreds of people from Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and was made in the spring of 2014 in tribute to Torvill and Dean marking 30 years since their Olympic triumph in Sarajevo.

This is November 2023. I am a german citizen living in the Caribbean since the 90'ies. I recall this most unique performance from 1984. This was a labour of love , art and perfection. But what a great performance this is from wonderful people honoring Torvill and Dean in such a beautiful and breathtaking way, how better could someone pay respect living legends that have touched us so much with this magnificent Bolero , soon 40 years ago
seeing this for the first time Sheltering in Place in California, crying for the beauty of the people of Nottingham. THANK YOU.
I heard more recently that Nottingham collected a sizeable lump sum to fund Jayne and Chris in their bid to win this Olympic medal. This entire community won the gold that year. And you gave a lasting gift to the world. That performance is legend. I will always watch it from time to time until the day I die. I cannot bear to watch it too often because I have to brace for something so exsquisite that it never fails to make me weep.
36 years later this still by far the most memorable ice dance of all time.
I just found this. It is the sort of things which makes me love the British people. Emotion, humour and pride.
What a wonderful tribute to a memorable performance. Wonderful job Nottingham!
Haven't seen this before. Absolutely beautiful .
Every time i hear Bolero, i think of Torville and Dean
I will always come back to this video to watch it in tears. You have no idea what a pivotal moment it was for me to have seen Torvill's and Dean's original performance that lost day, so long ago. I realized even before the judges perfect scores went up on the board that I had witnessed perfection, and that perfection in art is possible.
So relieved to read that loads of people were crying! I'm a puddle and I'm not sure why it's so emotional. What a wonderful thing
What a marvelous brilliant tribute to this fine pair and to the people of Nottingham Oh how I enjoyed the film. When people aspire to do good this is what happens lets have more of it please please please
Thirty years ago, I had tears streaming down my face while watching the Olympic performance. Today, same thing happened watching this tribute. Thank you, Fiona Buffini and Nottingham.
I am a little late to the party but this was INCREDIBLE. So amazing at all the people involved. Brought tears to my eyes. Nicely done!!!

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! I could barely watch this video for all the crying! This touched me so much and I have no connection to Nottingham. Just seeing people from all walks of life coming together like that...I couldn’t take it, it was so emotional and so wonderful! It just shows that we are truly all one human family. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 😊😊😊😊

In our time of global grief and social distancing this is the perfect antidote to despair for the human race.

Simply amazing!! Brought a tear to my eye, this mass tribute of regular folks to a terrific pair of artists. Bravo!! That was a golden era of figure skating, with amazing athletes from all over. My family would gather to watch the competitions religiously. My dad was a particular fan.
Well done Nottingham. The inclusion in this is awe inspiring. Everyone involved should be very proud
BRILLIANT. Proof in the Covid-19 crisis that humanity is worthwhile, and does deserve to carry on. Maybe we can do better in the future.
A Fitting Tribute to a FANTASTIC Pair of Skaters. My main regret is never having been able to see them skate LIVE. If only !! Well deserved and well executed xxx thank you
Beautiful! Oh man!!
I swear a tear up every time I watch this. Well done. Really!!
Hurray for Nottingham! What an amazing thing. Feels great to watch as we are all isolated in our little quarantines during the Coronavirus-19 pandemic, reminding us we can always choose to know we are all in this together to do great things and salute others who do and did great things. Each in our own way. Together. Separate and Together.
Right, well this just made me cry. Brilliant!

I cried when they won Gold, I cried again when I saw this amazing tribute to an amazing couple. We are so proud of them and so very glad the Council sponsored them all those years ago. They have repaid it a thousand times over. Well done Nottingham. I am proud to have lived there.
Moira Jones agree. I wonder if other athletes are sponsored by local councils ever?

Marvelous. Thanks for posting!
Gorgeous Thank you
Absolutely Awesome. Thumbs Up!
Proud to have been born in Nottingham.
What a fantastic video. I cried! The dancers all oozed with humanity, and there was something about celebrating individuality as a whole, inclusive society which was profoundly moving. If only people could keep images of this in their heads when they go to voting booths at election times. The more we allow others to flourish, in all their different ways, so do we flourish as loving people. Well done, Fiona Buffini!
W0W I LOVE IT. i Have been practicing this with my daughter in our living room.
And practice 666,666,666 more times, or until you've obtained perfection.. which ever comes first!
Inclusiveness...priceless!
2:47 might be my favorite dancers
