    Tony Hawk needs to be talked about like he's a goat in the sports genre. He's up there with Michael Jordan, Lebron, Babe Ruth, etc. He really did have a whole generation loving to skateboard and introduced so many new people. Tony Hawk is just an all around great person and a beast at skating.

    • @Ryleeman54number2
      @Ryleeman54number2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      He didnt diss lowtops🤨 Hes a vert skater he needs ankle support. Do you know anything about skating? A lot of street skaters don't like using hightops because of restricted ankles.

    • @virgilthemob1242
      @virgilthemob1242 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@Ryleeman54number2 My point went right over your head, bruv. I was specifically talking about Vans making some piss poor low tops with terrible ankle support. I know that high tops can be restrictive and that's why I almost exclusively skate low tops in the park. The difference being I usually go for shoes with thicker, more rigid side walls that don't bend all over the place like most Vans.

    • @Ryleeman54number2
      @Ryleeman54number2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@virgilthemob1242 I can see what you mean yea. I love skating in Vans but not exclusively. I know a lot of street skaters that actually dont like thick skateshoes because they have less board feel. Cool thing about skateshoes is theres styles for everyone. My pair of vans atm the Kyle Walker pros are actually amazing and are thick as hell. Vans actually are varied af and most of them are good for skating imo.

      @Yashua Fradkin it's not about shoes. It's about marketing. And I get it... But here's the thing, some people kill over these shoes, of course some people think these shoes are worth several hundred dollars. A sneakerhead may not think deeper into it. If that's your hobby, fine. But the only reason these sell for a thousand dollars is because they chose to make 5 of them and it still only costs like $20 to make them. Just like their mass produced shoes. And even their mass produced shoes are very overpriced because of marketing. People are told they're worth $200 so they accept it. If you want a cool pair of Jordans, get them but don't try to tell people they are actually worth $250. I would just say I had the money and I wanted them.

      He knew they were expensive, if you notice that moment when she gives him the price at 8:07, the director cut the scene and changed the camera angle and showed a different clip of his reaction. This is done in film and basically shows that they redid that shot multiple times to get the exact reaction they wanted. :) They don't typically have two camera guys right next to each-other taking two slightly different angles. She started to tell him the price and then they shift the angle of his response, it is obvious that he actually knew how much they were and was just trying to act surprised. :) Take another look, notice the angle change, multiple takes done to get that desired shot. :)

Also they have retail priced general realease shoes mixed in the displays with rare priced ones in the store. The rare overpriced ones are just there to attract people! If a kid comes into the store with parents, they would see the huge price differences between the GR and rare pairs. They would snap up the GR in an instant coz it automatically looks like great value. $150-250 for a shoe becomes cheap when sitting next to a similar shoe that is $900.
