Mongols will get utterly destroyed in Western Europe. People forget the real masters of warfare are still Europeans. And horse archer armies aren't a novelty as Europeans have fought cavalry armies numerous times in the past. And let's not even talk about WESTERN STYLE CASTLES. Germany alone has 5 THOUSAND castles and fortified towns. Ask Hungary how a mere 50 WESTERN STYLE CASTLES destroyed the Golden Horde.
Imagine becoming so strong that there was no longer any need to justify your wars since you were destined to rule the world and the only acceptable diplomacy was to become subject or a rebel. That is an insane self-fulfilling prophecy.
the "Why" for many kingdoms seems to be "gathered together under a charismatic, healthy(or old) leader. pressured by outside forces that threaten their safety. Realize they just beat the "big bad" of the region. Original ruler dies. Heirs fuck shit up in chaotic and different ways." alexander, menes, khan, julius. many figures seem to not only obtain this status up until basically cameras, but the way their empires seemingly crumbled due to what was probly incest and lead poisoning/privilege causing their immediate successors to act sociopathically and tear it all down within a few 100 years or less.
"Increasingly, the mongols divided the world into two groups; those who had submitted, and those who had not." You know, I'm starting to think the fictional empire of Noxus has more in common with the Mongols than with Rome.
Nah, Rome definitely fits Noxus much better than the Mongols lol. Acutely defined hierarchical organization, culture prizing personal ambition even at the cost of close relatives, the designation of local magistrates to oversee territories, a capital city with seemingly modern day level population density, etc. And of course, the general similarities with Roman Aesthetics & utter lack of any nomadic influence in Noxus. But since Noxus is kind of an archetypical empire, it will share many similarities with empires of all kinds throughout history. Parallels can be drawn to Alexander's Empire or Napoleon's as well.
@@waltode6 It also means 'peace' but that's not exactly convenient if you're a fundamentalist, there are Christians who view the world in much the same way while they hope for the rapture.
Did you all just miss the extremely obvious parallels to Rome in this video? From divinely ordained conquest to leaders having/using specific religious titles to justify their power to treating all other peoples as subjects to be to every succeeding state using them for legitimacy? There are near 1 to 1 comparison in their imperial ideology with Rome up to around Trajan, the early Caliphate, Alexander's Macedon, Victorian England, and half of China's dynasties
WE ARE THE MONGOLS. LOWER YOUR SHIELDS AND SURRENDER YOUR CITY. WE WILL ADD YOUR BIOLOGICAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL DISTINCTIVENESS TO OUR OWN. YOUR CULTURE WILL ADAPT TO SERVICE US. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE
The place where Genghis was declared khan is the place where the 2nd Gokturk state khan, the wise khan, had the Orkhon monuments built. If we look at Atilla, like Genghis Khan, he had his tomb built in secret. It is very impressive that nomadic traditions have remained unchanged for thousands of years, although it is not written, they have information about the past.
Imagine if the Mongols managed to conquer Japan, Vietnam, Java, India, the Mamluke Sultanate (including Egypt) and extended till Central Europe. I think there would have been more than four Khanates.
@@smellypatel5272Patel You are actually very right, the key impacts of Mongolian dominance over the Asian continent is the increased genetic homogeny. The Systematic Massacres of up to 70% of the local populace during the initial conquests followed by the settling of Mongol forces from other lands, forcefully blended the genetic makeup of central Asian people. A Kazakhstani, Siberian & Chinese person may look different, but they would look more different today if it weren't for the Mongols.
@@smellypatel5272 naah but homogeneity would be there. Mongols loved taking foreign wives and embracing foreign culture and religions just like every other Steppe people... Khazars, Gokturks, Xiongnu
In many ways this is very similar to most other Imperial Ideologies which just goes to show how material circumstances influence cultural identity. The Romans deified the emperors and believed they had an inherent right to rule the world and later Christianity led them to believe that their Empire was sacred and chosen by God to conquer the entire world, this belief would live on in the Byzantine Empire. The Arab Caliphate would also slowly develop the same ideas that they were chosen by God to conquer the world and spread Islam to all of the world and therefore war against anyone not already Muslim was justified. The Chinese Empire of course also believed that they had the divine Mandate of Heaven which made them the only legitimate rulers of the world and would demand tribute from far flung lands. The Aztecs believed that they had to continue conquering in order to satisfy their gods and anyone who resisted should be sacrificed to their gods. All of the European colonial empires justified their imperialism on the basis of religion saying that they had a divine mission to spread Christianity and would later start to believe in the idea of a semi-holy "Mission to Civilize" which of course meant to conquer and assimilate as much of the world as possible since specifically their culture was the only civilized one and chosen by God based on national myths. These days outright aggressive imperialist ideology which simply asserts that the country has an inherent right to invade is much less popular, but you do see countries often claiming a more secular right to aggressive actions such as the American idea of spreading democracy, which can justify aggression against seemingly any country regardless of how democratic it is or how often the US actually does create democracies, China seeming to re-assert old claims but now based on a more secular idea of China as a destined world power and most recently Russia in Ukraine which comes from an idea of sovereignty over all Slavic people. Imperial ideologies are fairly predictable because they all result from similar needs and similar circumstances. If a country suddenly gains an enormous amount of power that will always lead people to conclude that said country was always destined to do this and the conquests that result from this must be justified so it is claimed as some sort of inherent right of the only legitimate power on Earth. On the surface they might appear very different but they all tend to converge among similar lines even if it might nave a non-imperialist or even anti-imperialist basis, as you could argue was the case for the US and China who both did at first legitimately support the dissolution of other empires.
Ubraines a use puppet though, they hunted pro rusian protestors and burned them in odesa burnings. Victorbruhia nuubland leaked phone calls and the usaes self admitted bio labs. As slav i have more fear coming from a democracy that has a stupid puppet dementia man that controls nukes and military bases around the world, rather than rusia. See ted gunderson to see who actually controls use.
I think Russia in Ukraine comes more from the idea that Russia is the only great nation in the world and can do no wrong, so all it's conquests and crimes are justified. In particular the soviet collapse is seen as an infiltration by foreigners and jews that was illegal and so Russia should be allowed to use military force on all their former colonies.
these imperialism ideologies are the very core that justify their conquest of the world. if history repeats then we are gonna have another country having that sort of imperialism ideologies
I don't think the Arabs were slow about getting it in thier head, from what I understand it was pretty much part of thier religion from day one. That and sleeping children.

Genghis Khan conquered the world with the world's greatest military power. And it is common knowledge to everyone around the world that the Mongol Empire, which became the world's most powerful country, dominated the world. But until now, when I was learning world history, I never thought, 'Why did Genghis Khan conquer the world?' I learned a lot from this world history and war history video.
Let it be remembered, that Temujin (Chinggis), only wanted to live a peaceful life with his family. However, the world didn't let him, constantly having to fight off bandits, and enemie clans wanting to oust him, and not to mention, kidnapp his wife, which they succefully did. The man had to hide away in the forest for many years of his life and live on the run, while dealing with wife and children of his own. And having been born into family rivalry, rumored to been forced to kill his very own brother over scraps of food, while they suffered hardship after being exiled from their clan when their father died. After succesfully rescuing his wife. I guess the Temujin had enough, realizing that nomatter how much you try to avoid conflict. Conflict will find you. So the only way one can be sure to be able to keep a peacefull life in the steppes was to bring the Conflict to them! A simple man, who wanted to live a simple life, ending up creating the largest empire the world has ever seen. If anything, his world conquest didn't start before he was a Middle aged man of the era. (He was within his 30's or so if I'm not mistaken). If anything is to give you inspiration but you feel to old to do certain stuff, or begin to learn something new. Remember, Chinggis Khan conquered majority of the world in his 30's. @Kings and Generals ever considering making a dedicated video covering all of Temujins life? From the legends and rumors to the ones documented in records? It's definitely one of those life stories that worthy of an epic movie.
What many historian failed to teach and many people failed to realize is that the true reason of kings waging war is to unite the world and to bring peace.
Even after consolidating his rule over his people and the steppes, this thing that was quickly becoming an empire, needed to conquer and claim more loot to survive. After like a decade of conquering the clans and their neighbors his people got used to all the new goods and resources of the eastern and western world. It's like building a strong foundation for your nation only to realize that your best intentions means the death and subjugation of entire civilizations because to go back to a simple life means your nation will self destruct
@@herbthompson8937 it goes into detail in Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World by Jack Weatherford. It goes from his childhood to the black plague and the end of the Mongol Empire as we know it. Doesn't talk about the more heinous acts of his life. Which I'm like 50/50 on if it was Chingis or his descendents who did the truly horrible stuff. Either way, it's a good read.
"The greatest happiness is to scatter your enemy and drive them before you. To see his cities reduced to ashes. To see those who love him shrouded, and in tears. And to gather to your bosom his wives and daughters." - Genghis. Stop kidding yourself, trad-cu cks. He did it all for personal ambition and lust for conquest.
The title "Chingis" is quite similar to the title "Dalai" of Dalai Lama. The word Chingis was likely a borrowed word from a Turkic language, which eventually evolved into a modern Mongolian word "Tengis", which means "Sea". Similarly, Dalai Lama's title "Dalai" means "Ocean" in Mongolian, basically conveying the meaning of great/vast.
I'm still sad "Marco Polo" was cancelled by Netflix. I know these type of historical shows will change things around to tell a good story, so they're not historically accurate, but it sure was entertaining. Benedict Wong was an intimidating Kublai Khan. It was interesting to see how the Mongols rule and how all these other groups were all under the Khan. How they control the silk road and everything.
Well like the change up in fight sequences ruined that... but to be fair at the end they started Kung fuing the fuck out of it over letting it be a story about the empire and marco polo's exploitd.
The historical Mongols were a federation of heterogenous groups of different nomad peoples of "Tartar" and also Türkish origin. The word "Mongol" is derived from the name of a tribe called Mongɣol or Manqol. Even if the cultural levels of these ethnic groups were different, they had a common language and a common culture which made their unification under the hand of a strong leader easier. In 1206, Temüjin (1155 or 1167-1227) of the Borjigid line of the Mongɣol adopted the title of Great Khan (qaɣan, in Chinese kèhán! 可汗). He is known as Činggis Qaɣan (Genghis Khan). Under his leadership the Mongols destroyed the Western Xia 西夏 (1038-1227) and Jin 金 (1115-1234) empires and conquered central Asia. The successors of Činggis Qaɣan created the largest empire that ever existed in premodern history. Yet this empire soon disintegrated into several states (ulus), one of which was China, ruled by the Yuan dynasty 元 (1279-1368) that was founded by Qubilai Qaɣan (Emperor Shizu 元世祖, r. 1260-1294), a grandson of Činggis.
The Crimean Khans (Giray Dynasty) were descendants of Chinggis Khan. After they swore loyalty to the Ottoman Sultan, they enjoyed autonomy and respect that no other Ottoman vassal could enjoy, probably because of their ancestry. In Ottoman protocol, when they met the Sultan, viziers, foreign diplomats and clergymen had to bow down and kiss his hands or skirts as a sign of loyalty and respect. Even Sultan's own Grandvizier. The exception was the Crimean Khan. When the Crimean Khan arrived at Sultan's court, Sultan would welcome him by standing up from his throne, hugging him and calling him his "brother". This respect continued until the 2nd Siege of Vienna, where Ottomans were kind of betrayed by their Crimean vassals. After Vienna, the Khan was reduced to the level of Grandvizier in protocol. A little fun fact: When Murad IV was in death bed, he had a plan to destroy the entire remaining Ottoman dynasty and leave the throne to Girays, since he viewed his heirs extremely incompetent. He failed and Ibrahim I the Mad, one of the worst sultans in Ottoman history, survived and took power after his brother's death. So, there is an alternate universe somewhere that the Ottoman Empire was reorganized as the Giray Empire after 1640.

1. Because Genghis Khan's ambitions were on the highest level. 2. Because Mongols before Temujin's appearance were weak, small people and wanted to become a united, strong nation. 3. Because other conquerors (Tatars, Merkits, Chinese, Kyrgyz) always attacked Mongol lands and killed many of them. So, Mongols had to take revenge.

At the end of the battle of the Indus, Genghis khan said the following about Jalal al-Din:[42][10][43][37] A father should only have such a son. Whether he escaped from the fiery battlefield and came to the brink of salvation from the whirlwind of destruction, great deeds and great revolts will still come from him! Though considered a successful warrior and a general, Jalal al-Din is considered a poor ruler and his loss of re-established empire to the Mongol is attributed to the poor rulership of him. Jalal al-Din had enmity with all of his neighbours which resulted in Jalal's calls to form alliance against the Mongol army of Chormaqan being dismissed by all other Muslim kingdoms. Though historians agree that Jalal al-Din inherited these enmities from his father and predecessros.[1][3]

That's just not the case. The Russian prince of Ryazan, the first to encounter Batu Khan's invaders, received Mongol embassy exceptionally well and even send his own son as ambassador to Batu's camp with rich gifts. At first Batu praised the princeling and said there's no plan to attack Ryazan but then casually suggested that the princeling should bring his own wife to Batu as a gift too. When the princeling naturally refused, Batu slaughtered him and the entire embassy, laying the Ryazan princedom to ruin next.

Turkic tengrism rank; Kağan (khagan) - If you win a battle, this title is awarded. you must be of khan lineage Han (Khan) - The title of khan was given only to the royal family. it was given to whoever was on the throne Ulu Han (great khan) - The state was given to the khans who reached superpower. and there should only be one Uluhan in the world. Therefore, wars broke out frequently between the Turkic Khanates. Ex: Golden Horde- Timur war, Ottoman- Timur war … Hakan (Khakahan) This title is one superior to the Uluhan rank. Hi Kings & Generals, I really loved your content. Appreciate all your hardwork. Just 1 thing that I would like to point out: the Chinese character Jin (晋) that used in the content is not for Mongol's Jin Dynasty. it should be 金 instead.
It's very interesting that in Turkey we say "Doğum günün kutlu olsun" if it is someone's birthday which you mentioned Qut in the video so it still lives even in Anatolia. And the founder of the Turkey Seljuks name is Kutalmışoğlu Süleyman Şah. And we say "kutsal" to say sacred/holy in Turkish
As a Turkish speaker we use "kut" as root for many words such as, "kut-lu (blessed, happy)", "kut-sal (holy)", "kut-lama (celebration)", "kut-sama (blessing)"
Fun fact: I learned it from *ahem* secret someone, he said: mostly it was the other country's desire to enslave Mongolians (We were strong, hardened and useful potential slave force from steppes, that does not kill themselves like Japanese for example, when enslaved and taken. Our belief was that none should suicide no matter what, but fight to live off your best possible life because your/everyone's life is the most valuable thing). So our ideology/belief and our circumstances forced us to start "stop slavery in Asia at least" - kind of conquest. Apparently back in the day slavery was a big thing, and nowadays people does not really consider it that much, when talking about life back in the day. Remember: Khaan is not just some kind of mindless conqueror, they are slaves to their people's will and wellness. Not only Khaan but Mongolians fought for their lost sons and daughters to slavery, to find them or at least find out what happened to them. Mongolia was sort of good breeding ground for slaves, "they" took what was extra and left just enough men and women to reproduce for the next year's/generation's abduction by constant raids, like a human agriculture... There are even stories about Mongolian slaves in FAR ITALY, just think about how far was the slavery web connections. For Mongolians conquering the world was nothing compared to their willingness to find their lost relatives and so on. And that is how Mongolian armies was created, essentially. Because maintaining armies just by enough gold and fortune is not good enough for the longevity of the army, YOU NEED REASONS. And because of Mongol Empire, taking slaves from Asia became to be not an option or at least not an easy option for "westerners and others", soo they just resorted to taking slaves from Africa instead... WHAAAT. Do you ever considered WHY some people (even young generation of Europeans themselves) say that England or some other countries was built by the blood of slaves? So sorry Africans and African-Americans or black Americans, you just kind of became the alternate sacrificial chess piece instead of Asians, if you look at bigger picture of world history... PS: And yes I am a Mongolian. Believe it or not, that is your choice, it is just what I learned.

There was a parallel to what the Mongols did and what the European Empires did in the 17th 18th and 19th Century. Other than themselves, they didn't see other civilisations as fellow human beings They were their to be conquered and exploited.
Nah, the parallel is to what the Europeans did in the crusades, even before the Mongols. They literally slaughtered entire cities because they deemed them as infidels.
A "Khan" is simply a leader of extended household or a leader of a several merged households. Similar to a Sicilian (Italy) leader of extended household is called a "Don". Jang-He (Chinggis) Khan means leader of each and all households or War Leader or Commander in chief (USA). "Jang-He" in Persian-corrupted-form is "Jahan-Gir" meaning Universe-Conqueror.
Temujin did what he had to do, in order to survive, The modern concept of peace and brotherhood didn't exist back then in the dog-eat-dog world of the steppes. if you wanted to survive amongst monsters, you had to become the biggest monster of them all. GK went though unimaginable hell right from childhood, and accidentally found himself as the Alpha Monster (he suffered many humiliating defeats in his rise to power) by the time he reached middle age (40s). It was only after he managed to unite all Mongolia under his banner and became Genghis Khan, that he attainted the invincible tag in his wars with the outside world, simply because his other opponents hailed from far more "civilized kingdoms", and these "refined rulers" were no match for the rabid dogs with blood-lust that emerged out of the misty steppes, and who didn't suffer from any moral / ethical / chivalric compunctions, not to mention GK's charisma, generalship and his briliance as a tactician and war strategist.
I sometimes wonder if his most important skill was to be able to survive defeats, as usually defeats in this kind of environments are not simply humiliating but almost always lethal, yet it seems he always managed to slip through the cracks even when he was relatively weak

There were 4 nations which have managed to defeat the 1200's Mongols in war ; Javanese (Majapahit), Turks (Khalji & Bahri Mamluks), Japanese, Vietnamese (Dai Viet). Mongols of the first half of the 13th century however were unstoppable
Genghis Khan made the Turks from the Qiyat tribe. He considered himself a follower of the ideology of the Turkic Khaganate "Mangu El" and claimed that he was from the Bilgekhan dynasty. According to the will of his father, Yasugay Bahadir, he continued the ideology of the Blue Turks, and the word "Mongol" came from this. The Mongol Khan, whose original name was Temuchin, was a tall man with blue eyes and red hair. Genghis Khan is written in the works of Najmuddin Kubro and Rashididdin Hamadani. The book that I know for sure, Mirzo Ulugbek's "The History of Four Uluses", provides such information in detail about Genghis Khan. By the way, the work of Temur grandson Mirzo Ulugbek in Tashkent was copied by the scientists of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan in 2021 from the original copy at Oxford University in Britain. K&G would do well to reconsider its sources.

the "Why" for many kingdoms seems to be "gathered together under a charismatic, healthy(or old) leader. pressured by outside forces that threaten their safety. Realize they just beat the "big bad" of the region. Original ruler dies. Heirs fuck shit up in chaotic and different ways."
alexander, menes, khan, julius. many figures seem to not only obtain this status up until basically cameras, but the way their empires seemingly crumbled due to what was probly incest and lead poisoning/privilege causing their immediate successors to act sociopathically and tear it all down within a few 100 years or less.
"Increasingly, the mongols divided the world into two groups; those who had submitted, and those who had not."
You know, I'm starting to think the fictional empire of Noxus has more in common with the Mongols than with Rome.
Caesar's legion from fallout is the same.
It has a lot of parallels with the empire of Chinggis.
Ultra conservative Muslims think along the same lines, for Islam means submission to Allah.

The place where Genghis was declared khan is the place where the 2nd Gokturk state khan, the wise khan, had the Orkhon monuments built. It is very impressive that nomadic traditions have remained unchanged for thousands of years, although it is not written, they have information about the past.

I would say the USs is more imperial without the empire
these imperialism ideologies are the very core that justify their conquest of the world. if history repeats then we are gonna have another country having that sort of imperialism ideologies

It's like building a strong foundation for your nation only to realize that your best intentions means the death and subjugation of entire civilizations because to go back to a simple life means your nation will self destruct

not too far from the truth, tbh.

Just like all great empires they mostly fell to infighting and stagnation once their golden age was behind them.
Seeing how their are so many Modern Men That have Chinggis DNA in them , I'd say the conquest continues 😆

Kağan (khagan) - If you win a battle, this title is awarded. you must be of khan lineage
Han (Khan) - The title of khan was given only to the royal family. it was given to whoever was on the throne

As a Turkish speaker we use "kut" as root for many words such as, "kut-lu (blessed, happy)", "kut-sal (holy)", "kut-lama (celebration)", "kut-sama (blessing)"
Another fascinating video!

"Because it's there."
Genghis Khan responding to a reporter asking why he wanted to conquer the world, before beheading him and his entire city. 1224.
Interesting video
There was a parallel to what the Mongols did and what the European Empires did in the 17th 18th and 19th Century.
Other than themselves, they didn't see other civilisations as fellow human beings
They were their to be conquered and exploited.
Nah, the parallel is to what the Europeans did in the crusades, even before the Mongols. They literally slaughtered entire cities because they deemed them as infidels.
6:09 "Earliest deees"
Man that was a little funny-sounding lol
For me at the start it wasn't just conquering the world but restoring the peace and bringing order and law into Great Eurasian Steppes.
He showed the world when it was still possible to show no matter ur wealth u will submit or die.
Make a video on Alexander the greats reasons for wanting to conquer the world
Th, I think the reason was, to quote the 1st man to reach the top of the Everest: "Because it was there".
"just as there was 1 god in heaven, there was 1 ruler on earth"
this line is so fire bro and it shows how powerful the mongols really were
A "Khan" is simply a leader of extended household or a leader of a several merged households.
(9:50) Shouldn't the title of the video not be - 'Why the Chinggisid *Dynasty* wanted to...', given that we've come to know now that Chinggis wasn't the aggressive conquerour that he is sometimes portrayed to be?
finally it answer my question, thank youu
Great production
I needed to write a easy on the mongols
Fun fact: In Japanese, the name of this Mongol conqueror is used to refer to a meal of roasted lamb. NOT A JOKE.
becasue japanese dont usually consume mutton and mongols are famous mutton/beef eaters
There were 4 nations which have managed to defeat the 1200's Mongols in war ; Javanese (Majapahit), Turks (Khalji & Bahri Mamluks), Japanese, Vietnamese (Dai Viet). Mongols of the first half of the 13th century however were unstoppable
dai viet win the battles but lost the war.they become tributery of Yuan.
Khiljis are Afghans
The mongols got their ass whooped by the polish and hungarians in the second half of the 13th century
Go learn some history
Mongols helped Javanese in return they backstabbed them.
Mamluks were saved by other Mongols(Golden horde)
Japanese were super lucky

Tru!
So, "Bulgha" means rebels. It sounds like a nice name for a nation.
Futile question. Such question can be applied to any warring people, conqueror, anglo-French-Roman-German wars; or recently Falkland, Slavian, Korean, Vietnam, Iraq, Libya. List is long.
always interesting
i dont know if you’re proud of yourselves but i sure am proud of you for going out of your way to pronounce it Chingis Khan, as should be, even if nobody was going to correct you for saying Genghis Khan
I literally just searched this up now theres a vid nice, more explaination!
Read Abhijit Chavda view on Mongol Genghis khan. Because many mongols agree to that view.
I dont think that he ever wanted to conquer the world, I think that he just did it because he could and clearly there was nothing that could stop him. With the skills and endurance combined with the nomadic and hostile lifestyle and clearly being ”in the right time at the right moment” I think that anyone would believe that they were destined to do what they were doing. I think it is the strongest feeling there is, to use youre skills to solve problems, overcome challanges and being rewarded for it every time. Why stop when you dont have a reason to?🤷♂️
4:10-4:35 This was also the tradition in the Ottoman Empire
Nomad Ideology., from Modun Chanyu, Attila IYI, Bumin, Bilge, to Alp Arslan, Genghis Khan, Batu, Toqtamish and Tamerlane. 🐎🐎🐎
Tengri Khagan or Tian Kehan was actually first created for the Taizong Emperor of the Chinese Tang Dynasty after his armies destroyed the Eastern Turkic Khaganate and the Xueyantuo. Before that it was simply Khagan (aka. Khan of Khans) or even earlier, Chanyu (aka. Song of Heaven).
Today, November 24 is Chinggis Khaan's birthday.
The mongol Empire is the definition of becoming what You try to destroy.
