This guide is great! I personally won't be playing BP but I gotta know what he can do for the sake of matchups and stuff. I love this character. He simultaneously adds a mechanic that lets people counter standard 4's/ganks tactics but also reinforces the basics of the game. Ala feint games. Making it vulnerable to guard break (along with a fair amount of whiff recovery on counter) is a very smart move with such a powerful tool. The risk versus reward seems appropriate which is surprising considering their past decisions with mix ups. I also love that even though he can be called a mix of some heros he is both given the tools to handle nearly any situation and encouraged to have a strong mixture of offense and defensive play. However I do have some concerns. Getting a free bash from blocking his light in OOS/revenge situations is an issue they fixed with Tandi and it shouldn't be a thing for Vort either. Getting full damage immunity is uncalled for considering the nature of his tool and it's power. Damage reduction is more appropriate. Getting revenge instantly from a drop attack is a big no for me. No damage reduction on flipped enemies is also a big no for me. And I wish his dash heavy and soft feint into bash were actually usable as chase down tools. But beyond that. Love the guy. Like. As much as I love centurion.

No only you're at risk using the bladeblockade at first, but you're risking the outcome again if you follow up with something other than the stunning hit, and in that case a parry would be better because it deals more damage and let's you start your combo mix-uñ
they should keep ara's blade blockade timing window but give him his light stun input even on wiff so he isn't as vulnerable to GB they would have to dodge the grab then gb

Just as an FYI, the devs said that the guaranteed shield-bash after blocking a light attack while oos and after the superior-block light is a bug and that they will be removing it soon

I.e the point the enemy can't be revived vs when the executioner is recovered from the total animation. Also which of his executions would return the most health on kill? Does his dodge block make delayed 400ms reactable (assuming pretty optimal playing conditions) since its instantaneous? My thinking is that theyre 333ms iirc and average reaction time is 250ms so without the 100ms delay of normal guard switch you should be able to block on reaction. Probably better to bulwark flip and they could still heavy feint gb both anyways but still.
His OOS punish is absolutely broken, I just went against him and now I can't do 1v1s anymore. The problem is if he throws out a light, even if you block it the bash afterwards is guaranteed meaning he gets free 20 dmg. You may think, oh just parry his lights, but it doesn't matter because it works on both lights and heavies, so he can just feint around and still get it because he just needs a blocked hit, not parried. It drains stamina and stops the recovery of stamina, so if you go OOS against a vortiger, which isn't hard based on how defense focused he is, you will die everytime and there is very little you can do about it.
Craic, at what frames are you no longer GB vulnerable after the startup of the unblockable heavy? Cause if theres only like 100 ms vulnerability you could basically force a GB and punish it all in one

Zodak Mozzila nothing happens. It’s like moving your guard. The counter doesn’t affect the trap and a guard side isn’t present. So the trap whiffs and nothing happens.
King Spade it’s possible but I don’t know. Because when you activate counter and miss it’s 500ms to recover. During this the actual trap animation needs to finish and the second light needs to be initiated which if put together may go beyond the priors recover meaning you may not even get the light or worse yet be able to counter again when the light hits. Again this all possibility

The bulwark counter Vs nuxia trap isn’t a thing. When you use bulwark counter it’s like using an emote on the trap. Nothing happens.

Early impression for me is possible S in duels High A in 4’s. You’ll see differences of opinion on this ofc. Only time will tell for sure.

Not normally but if he is in the middle of flipping someone he is invulnerable while doing it.
