Im autistic and this song reminds me of my autistic burnouts. You know the "storm" is coming but you cant do anything to stop it so you go about it with the "darkest before the dawn" mindset which causes the senses to burnout and get worse. He keeps doing that and then everything "got deafenigly louder" and "every fiber screamed out but i couldnt make a sound" could be some autistics go nonverbal during butnouts. It gets louder and more scary sounding to show how our senses get so heightened during sensory overload/burnouts. Its my own way of seeing it
This song is a perfect metaphor for a panic attack. The denial and trying to convince yourself your fine, to the thick of it when everything feels suffocating, to the calm down when you slowly start to regain control, all the way to the aftermath of it.
I'm a huge metalhead but have always had a soft spot for Owl City. Coco Moon may have just become my new favorite pop album ever. Every single song is a banger, Adam. No one makes story songs like you. Well done!
I love how during the music slowly builds and gets louder and more intense, like it’s symbolizing hearing the tornado rapidly approaching, then the peace of that whistle tone bit to me is like the calm in the eye of the storm then the melody goes kinda back to how it was at the beginning and it’s like the somber feeling you get after the tornado dissipates….
I love that scream! Even though I love his soft calm voice, I'd love to listen to some heavier side of song where he do some screamo stuffs like his other project. 😁
