I stopped my fairyloot subscription a while ago and based on what's come our since I'm really glad I did. It has given me the spare funds to try out other boxes and see if there is something else l Out there, that fits better for my taste xx
Honestly, I'm yet to see a single person really love this bookbox. I mean, I've seen some people really enjoy individual books, but as a whole the vibe feels generally disappointed. Romantasy isn't my sort of thing but I'm gutted for people that were excited for it when it was first announced.
Yeah I think they need to focus on quality over quantity (maybe reduce it to quarterly or every other month). The actual editions are stunning but as they're limited to choosing new releases or books that were previously self-published, some of the picks feel a bit random. Even though I'm gonna cancel my subscription I hope they manage to improve it because it has the potential to be a great subscription!
That food looks amazing! Honestly I'm going off of book boxes in general, their books are stunning but they're getting more and more expensive and I'd rather pick and chose my books. Even if I don't end up with the gorgeous editions 💙
Yeah a lot of book boxes don't appeal to me, although I'm curious about the Fairyloot Epic Fantasy subscription launching next year, especially as it's going to be quarterly! Monthly feels like too much to keep up with reading the books!
I've e been following The Half King for *years* waiting for a release (so salty we have to wait until November to get our hands on it lol). Originally, it was going to be a YA, hence why it feels like one. I believe the author has also only written YA up until this point, so that also explains the vibes. It sounds like the author threw in some spicy scenes to make it "new adult" without understanding you have to change the entire tone when writing for a different audience. I'm glad it still sounds decent though. Planning on picking up the deluxe edition from B&N in November.
I've not read anything else by the author but that makes a lot of sense! I hope you enjoy it when you pick it up, I really liked the world and the plot was decent 😊
I was super disappointed by The Wren in the Holly Library too. Personally I felt calling it romance when there is two spicy scenes and no relationship building was just bad.
It feels like Fairyloot have missed the mark or not come into their stride yet with the romantasy box...I don't feel like Ive not seen a rave review for it
I only heard terrible things about the romantasy box 😅 I do not think Romantasy is for me anyway. I only like real slowburn romances anyway and what is labelled romantasy nowadays focus on sexy scenes which means fastburn.
Yeah I love romantasy when it's a slow burn but a lot of recent romantasy releases feel super rushed so even if I like the fantasy elements, the romance itself is disappointing!
At least The Half King was fine, it did sound to me like the most interesting one of the subscription so far. But yeah, a fantasy romance with a meh romance ? Don't really sea the point
That sheep cardigan is indeed really cute !
Thank you!!

Yesss I need to try out some other subscription boxes! Hopefully one day I will find one that works for me 😅

@@GriffReads quarterly definitely feels a lot more manageable!
That food looked so yummy

should I cancel my fairyloot romantasy subscription? yes 👀
👀
I think it seems like they chose some not so good books when there are so many others that are actually good.

Yes! If a book is labelled as a romance then I expect the relationship to be well developed!

It has potential to be great so I hope they manage to make improvements. The actual editions are beautiful but the books themselves not so much
