like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, th-cam.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
Unfortunately, I have been struggling with this purple ring for 6 months That purple ring doesn't disappear anymore and I tried all the methods to reset and reconfigure it, I still have 6 different speakers and they all work and connect to the same speaker. I took them out one by one From the socket and the same without result.Thank you !!
Hello! Thank you for the video. I think it was really helpful for the do not disturb mode, but I just bought my echo dot, which will not connect to the Wi-Fi. I have restarted it, I have turned off and on Google fiber, I have everything within a few inches from each other, and still, the purple ring pluses. I don't know what to do.
Hi Crystal, sorry to hear that. By restarted it, I assume you mean factory reset it? (hold action button for 30 full seconds - not 15 seconds which just enters WiFi mode again) I've seen some advice online to try and connect your Echo Dot to WiFi from the Alexa browser app on desktop as opposed to using the mobile app. You can try this on alexa.amazon.com/ on a laptop. Would rule out the mobile app causing the problem at the very least. If that doesn't work, then might be time to reach out to Amazon support in case it's a faulty unit. If you've just purchased it, it should still be under warranty. Hope this help Dan

Hi Denyse, Sounds like you'll need to factory reset and then set it up from scratch again. Similar to point 2 in the video, where the setup process failed and it ended up in that purple ring state. Here's how to factory reset it, depending on your speaker model ... 1st Generation Echo or Echo Dot: Pressing the Reset button using a paper clip until the light ring turns off, signifying a successful factory reset. 2nd Generation Echo or Echo Dot: Press and hold both the Microphone off and Volume down buttons at the same time. When the light ring turns off (around 20 seconds), the factory reset is done. 3rd or 4th Generation Echo or Echo Dot: Hold down the Action button. The factory reset is complete once the light ring turns off (about 20 seconds). 1st Generation Echo Plus: Long-press the Reset button with a paper clip until the light ring switches off (approximately 8 seconds). 2nd Generation Echo Plus: Press and hold the Volume down and Microphone off buttons. Release them when the light ring turns off (about 20 seconds). After its reset, setup the Alexa App and then follow the instructions to connect to Wi-Fi. Been trying to setup my Alexa that was purchased as a gift. On setup I get the message “this device is not registered” while trying to connect to the WiFi. I'm totally confused. The white wire under Alexa, I'm not sure what's the problem. It looks like it's actually broken, I'm not sure. No one ever touches Alexa. It's weird the white wire is out. Not sure where to take it to be repaired. It's very odd. Just stopped playing and the white plug is out. Sorry it's true. I just don't understand what happened. Hellpppp

Step 1 - pin-hole press the reset button Step 2 - register alexa, which will fail and turn purple Step 3 - Now go back to alexa app and find the failed, paired alexa and select it. In there select the next button which will tell you to: Step 4 - press the action button to get to the orange pairing mode Step 5 - run again as per app guidance the pairing WHICH IS JUST to confirm and connect / complete the re-pairing Voila, after hours of frust your alexa is working again
Just had a look at this as none of the Echo speakers I own have a reset button. It looks like the 1st Gen Echo and 1st Gen Echo Dot (2014 models) are the only speakers that actually have a pin-hole reset button at the base - all the other models follow the reset method I mentioned. Didn't know that but good for anyone else who has the older gen speakers

when I plug alexa into an outlet it keeps spinning blue and green. If I move to another outlet it stops. Any reason Why?

Unfortunately, I don't believe it's possible to change the default ring light color on an Echo speaker.
