    I think bottled water business is a masterclass in marketing. Everyone is essentially selling the exact same product that most people in developed countries get for a fraction of the price from their own homes. Every product is the same, packaging and marketing is the only real difference.
    Edit: So many people keep replying about how their tap water is this and that. This is a general statement about water, not about just the water in your town. Also, brita filters are a thing and they work wonders if your tap water ain't that amazing. That said, the amount of comments proving my point without knowing it is amazing.

      if you think about it, it's interesting that it's a "luxury" water brand, but all bottled in plastic, isn't it? sure, you wouldn't want to transport glass across the ocean, but they could ship it in tankers and bottle it in the country of sale. I guess the main reason is that most people who want the "luxury water" are still not willing to deal with heavy glass bottles.

      You have a good point. But I thought about it, and my family buys bottled water for a few reasons.
      1. It's very cheap (we buy store-brand water)
      2. It's colder. Just take it out of the fridge and you don't have to wait for ice to cool your glass of water, and have ice cubes obstructing your drinking flow
      3. Convenience. You don't have to fill your own bottles of water. I know it's bad for the environment though, so I feel bad about that. Because of that, I do sometimes refill them and stick them back in the fridge.
      4. They're easy to take with you on the go. Of course you could use refillable bottles, but then you have to plan ahead to fill one and stick it in the fridge at least a couple hours ahead of time. And that doesn't work for impromptu trips. Or just put ice in it, but again, that restricts the flow of water a bit.
      It all comes down to convenience and laziness in the end. We need to work on that. As for the expensive water brands, I have no idea why people waste so much money on them.

    • @lostingames5657
      @lostingames5657 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Today I tend to buy 1.5L plastic water bottles, and keep refilling those for a while and then grab another. Less wasteful than having every drink from a new 0.5L bottle but I know im still wasting plastic. My primary reason is that I struggle to motivate to keep up with things, so eventually I'll set my water bottle somewhere and get too lazy to clean it for a few days, and then I have to thoroughly wash it out and even still I feel gross drinking from it after. If I just use disposable bottles, then whenever I leave it somewhere and dont clean it, I can just toss it and grab a new one for a buck fifty.

      @@whirlwind872 I've gotten onto how the shape and size of the receptacle effects how we drink and feel about it. Like I tend to sip a glass whereas with a bottle I will "chug" or down a whole bunch when I'm thirsty, but I don't do that with a glass. Or another thing I noticed was that I have this very curved glass that I enjoy using for when I drink milk late at night, because it imparts a "soft" flavour with my psychology, not any real physical flavour present but still effects the taste. One that would be just a little different in a glass with more solid angles. The alcohol industry has obviously considered all this which is why we use wine glasses or champagne flutes or a tumbler etc for different drinks. The design imparts a flavour both physically and mentally... Anyways that's enough about the minutiae of water and about enough internet for the day.
