    Aerycks, The boat draws about 15", and has a gripe and long keel. In shallow water the rudder doesn't have to kick up so you still have steerage. Do a search for "18-foot modified sharpie skiff" to see the profile. Cheers

    Very nice construction work!! Your tiller and extender are a work of art.

    Love your boat. I am sailor on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland, U.S. where Sharpies were once a common sight. These are used in races on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and they're called Log Canoes: Log Canoe Races in St. Michaels, MD.

    Had to Google Metung to find out where you are. Might have to drag my boat over from Adelaide, looks so good.

    One dislike. I guess someone just wanted to see if the button worked, because it sure couldn't have meant the video was bad. Love your videos, I look forward to seeing more of them.

    I found the pictures of Tempo being built. She's a handsome craft.

    It's brilliant the way the tiller-extension lodges against the deck-cleat during a tack, holding the rudder in exactly the right place as you switch seats.

    WOW! What is the draft on that boat? It looked as though there were spots where the water couldn't have been more than a foot deep at most.

      15" to be exact but if the mud/sand is soft, you can drive it through shallower water, heh.

    @markasTM ,
    Might look that way because of the camera angle. You can't see it but the bow /stem is submerged.

    Such a nice looking craft, where did you get the plans?

    • @tilroh
      @tilroh 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. I got the drawings from Reuel Parker's book "The Sharpie Book". No plans as such but all the info a boat builder needs to build lots of sharpies in that book. It's a great study guide and an entertaining read.

      Get Reuel Parker's "The Sharpie Book" lots of beautiful designs updated for modern building materials. Tempo was built from that book.

      I've never heard of anyone building one except for themselves. You might luck up and find a used Sharpie.

      Nice shallow design for West Coast of Florida around Pine Island where Im going to be moving to. Captiva and Cayo Costa island have lots of shallow water there. Will have to ask around there.

      @@tilrohI think they where designed for Chesapeake Bay. They used to be fishing boats back in the day.

    The Gipsland lakes are good. But it's funny that we are thinking about trailing Tempo to Goolwa.
