i think you gotta start breaking out of the cities skylines mindset when it comes to roads, egg 😭perfectly straight roads cutting directly across a landscape weren't very common before paved roads, they would be far more windy and working within the terrain, avoiding the slopes and forests where possible
German endings for village or city names are -dorf, -stadt or -stedt, also -burg, -born, -furt, -hausen or -heim. Any combination with Egg and you're good 😂

Hi Egg, I think you need to add the horse to the Tradingpost in the "Advanced" Tab , you can also do this with your ochsen in other buildings like farms etc... I love the Series! Thx for the videos ^^

An Au is the german word for floodplain or a floodplain forrest, can also be translated as meadow. Zwei means two. Eichenhau could mean oakfell which you are very much doing to get wood and planks 😅

I just finished the previous 2, so I'm so happy to see this video! I was wondering what the horse at the trading post is for, because I haven't seen it do anything? And you asked about how we feel about day and night cycle. I guess the TH-cam compression is brutal, because my brightness is way up and I'm hardly seeing anyting some times. Not all the times. Just when it's really dark without snow.
I have encountered bugs with the livestock in the EA build, they die and come back to life, little quirks that will be patched in EA updates :) Thanks for letting me know!

Bodenhaltung and Freilandhaltung
Both Germanic words regarding egg production considered more humane alternatives to conventional cage systems, with Freilandhaltung offering hens more freedom and access to the outdoors.

I really enjoy this series! For town names I thing Eggtown is a good one and Eggfield for the new farming province.
Also you deleted one of the main roads of the town, near the market and the tannery
Played another game in the way back, very similar to this. Your town stayed hidden on a world map until it reached a certain size and population. Then it open a market to you to purchase and trade goods. It ran just like a stock market. Prices changing everyday. After you accomplished a good number of trades/purchases. You had to pass a sort of test to open the market further. It also would then show your town on the world map and open it to doing battles. And try to form a Guild of allies. Also had chat room. Where you could ask questions talk to other players. The Guild members also could talk to each other...but the chat would show in Gaelic. So they could do trades or plan attacks without everyone knowing what was going on. And chat just within their Guild group.😊 Yes I'm old, but I love these types of games!!😊

I propose Eggstadt/Eierstadt for your starter town. Eier (pronounced "eye - er" as in "human eye") is german for "eggs", Stadt is "town". With all them chickens, I think it's a very apt name! ("Look at alllll them chickens" iykyk).
The central region should be Yolkhausen, as it it sits in the middle of everything.
For the rest I'd say you could have Eggersdorf to the west and Eggfurt to the east, and given the german connection it would be nice to have Koenigsegg in there somewhere.
Will there be a wagon/wheel maker? That has to be Yolkswagen.
When you get a full military they should be known as the Albu-men.

In past games, if you upgrade some roads it increases happines. And can be a less expensive way to do it.😊

I am hoping they do something with lighting at night. Like letting us place torches or something along the roads. It is very dull at night. This game is like a mix of all my favorite city builders. I am getting the Foundation vibes hardcore. I do wish you could prospect and find additional mining

6:13 Specifically Old High German with the funky Z spelling; I think said like "zveye-ow". The start of that place name is just "two", and I believe the "-au" just links it to water in some way. English "ey"; "A small island formed by the buildup of silt or gravel at the meeting of two rivers or streams", as well as place names ending in -ey/-y, and the "is" in "island" comes from the same Proto-west Germanic root.

@@mbyszio By "funky", all I meant was that the "zw" spelling stands out, as, to the best of our knowledge, it seems highly likely that proto-Germanic had a "tw", and even Low German used the "tw". Every other west Germanic branch held onto the "tw", Old Norse broadly went to "tv" (with some "tw") which is less of a shift than "zw".
The Old High German just seems to stand out there. I didn't say it was bad or anything haha
Fantastic series with a fantastic new game. Looking forward to its release. Nice relief from all the trouble with CS2. Perhaps CS2 could get better, but I think this new game will eclipse CS2 and render CS2 obsolete.

the village ending of -au, means brook or stream (-bach means the same) so Zweiau (zwei | au) means two streams. Adding to the endings that uli5000 suggested I could add (other than -au / -bach), -heim (home) or -ingen (belonging to) so a suggestion for your main village's name could be Eiheim (egg home). Eibach is a real name for a couple of villages.
Ive had LOTR on the mind recently-according to google och is the elvish word for egg so my vote is minas ochith. Looking forward to full release of this game

This is a cool cool game, hopefully July/August for console. I may have missed but what setting are you on, easy, medium etc.... Excellent gameplay, really enjoying this. Its funny listening to you, definitely some Cities talk in your commentary.....😁
There is a 3rd-person walkaround in CS on console! You can change your model to all the different cims (& a few animals, including a giraffe!). You can also drive around in a bunch of different vehicles, and you can actually feel the differing characteristics of the cars. It's really cool.

I really like the visuals and atmosphere of the game, but find the screen too dark to see what's going on a lot of the time.
It's logical that in winter and bad weather there's a lot less light, and it's atmospherically right, but I'm having to rely mostly on your narration without being able to see what you're talking about as anything more than some vague shadows in the dark.
Does the game have settings to brighten the dark(ish) times so I could see what I'm doing when playing it myself?

Do we have any sense yet of what the late game buildings look like yet? I'd hope there's later game wall-to-wall mixed use housing and shops that are, say, four or five stories for the middle of your town
Not just yet, I imagine we will see higher tiers introduced with major updates, wall to wall would be fantastic!
If you over tax it will not only effect your town happiness. The population will also start to drop and you won't have enough people to carry on the working of your town.😊
Not me overthinking the corpse pit but it definitely makes sense to be by the mines as you could imagine they’d just fill an old one with the bodies. With the new region do you have to set up trade routes with yourself or can everything just transfer back and forth by ox

You might want to start sacking the raider camps as soon as you have a decent militia, since they give quite a lot of money as spoils of war. I think your one archer unit and one spear unit should easily be able to take on a camp.

Did I hear you just say that Foresters destroy Berry Bushes to make room for planting more trees?
If so I've just screwed up as I followed the Banished logic where foragers find more forage under the tree canopy. So, I've been telling my foresters to focus their tree planting in the area centred on my Berry Bushes. If what you say is right I need to stop them pronto.
Yes, you will receive an error in your event log that foresters are damaging the bushes, just exclude them from their work area :)

Arent taxes from the total village wealth? Ie the village wealth you have availabe for buying stuff like back gardens? So it is worthless to tax when village wealth is low?

HORSE! - your horse does not seem to be assigned to trade post. It needs to be assigned to the building. It just standing outside, not being used
I don't know if you can do it now you've started, but you can adjust your approval sensitivity to be more forgiving in the settings.
You may want to create burgage plots with enough room for chicken coops. The eggs will bolster your food economy and the coops don't require as much room as vegetable gardens.

There is a lot of good in the game. But how many times can you build the same looking city. City Skylines. You can take the same map the same road layout. I chose to build American modern design. You choose old Russian. Even those the map is the same. The roads are the same. The city looks completely different because of the builds being completely different. A different theme so to speak. Again, tons of good here. The game looks great. But no matter what you do a tier two building is always the same tier two building.

I don't know as I don't own the game yet; but for 3 videos, you keep giving them chickens and can't figure out why they're complaining about not enough diversity in food choices. How about a veggie?
