Shelf Notes: 1996 was a great year in hip hop - this one is another killer. Finesse has been one of my favourites in production for a long time. He fights in the same arena as Premier and Pete Rock. He always brings creative samples and sharp, punchy drums. He’s also a big fan of the children’s tv show-type sound effects. The beat on this one is no exception, with bubbles noises, upwards-portamentoed 'wooow' noises and sleigh bells as high hats. But Finesse is a talented wordsmith too. ‘There’s a new sherrif in town?’ ‘Where?!’ ‘You’re looking at him’… ‘I got so much game, I can make a nun change religion’… ‘I know this ain’t Burger King, but I’ll still have it my way’…
