There are numerous, documented instances of assaults against the public, which seemingly go unchallenged by city council employees. I've worked in the security industry for almost 10 years now. Im white British. The Security Industry Authority has been a multi cultural organisation since it was first started. Yes, on many occasions i've seen security staff of other cultures who absolutely should not be in the job. That being said, i've also worked with plenty of them who are more than competent at the job and do actually speak rather good English. The SIA has changed alot over the last few years. Its no longer as simple as going to the job centre, doing a course and then getting a licence. Door supervisors now have to, by law, complete a top up course every 3 years. The overall pass rate is around 33%
What you have to remember Charlie, is that Derby out of many other cities is known for having a ridiculously incompetent, ineffectual and unprofessional council, not to mention the constabulary (Gracie Spinx) only recently. Yes, on many occasions i've seen security staff of other cultures who absolutely should not be in the job.
That being said, i've also worked with plenty of them who are more than competent at the job and do actually speak rather good English.
The SIA has changed alot over the last few years. Its no longer as simple as going to the job centre, doing a course and then getting a licence. Door supervisors now have to, by law, complete a top up course every 3 years. The overall pass rate is around 33%

What you have to remember Charlie, is that Derby out of many other cities is known for having a ridiculously incompetent, ineffectual and unprofessional council, not to mention the constabulary (Gracie Spinx) only recently. @@oscar4321234 I didn't know people were born with cameras in their hand. It's not a human right at all, if that was the case why is public filming not allowed in some countries? It's as simple as there is no law preventing filming in public in the UK therefore it's allowed (you have no expectation of privacy when in a public place).
There is no human right to take photo's in someone else's private space. Out in the public is normally fine. There is an argument that council offices and police stations are funded by the public and so you should be able to record within (publicly funded after all). I disagree. Legally you can be asked to stop and leave, and you don't leave then you are civilly trespassing. The agents of the landowner can escort you off the premises if you refuse to leave. If you do not comply only then is it a criminal matter and the police get involved.
Now for me as a freedom, libertarian type of person I do not agree with filming inside police stations is just down to one example. Back in the '90s I went into a police station to report a minor crime. Their was a young student in front of me reporting how she was graped the early hours of that morning. I could not believe how the desk staff didn't whisk her into a private room but insisted on writing down all the harrowing details right in front of members of the public like me.
I remember it to this day. She was such a brave girl too, extremely matter of fact about what had happened. This was 90's not #metoo rubbish either.

That big glass building across from the bus station/ casino, was the Eagle Centre Market. Closed down a few years ago. Many of the market traders gave up rather than move to shops.
