I usually just write GG, thanks for waiting. But this was my 2nd favorite Hippie video ever. Please keep doing these types of succinct unit comparisons.
As someone who uses .50 a lot, the combination of 2 o 3 .50 plus infantry to defend or attack a point is a very strong combo, especially with the 1.4KM range of the .50. Decks like the 35, 76 or 82 can get a lot out of the .50 with the strong infantry.
I like the trade-off. It makes sense for the Wombat to perform poorly as it can also engage tanks. And the AGL might be better for firing into buildings. They all have their niche.
AGS was definitely buffed heavily this patch but a big improvement from terrible leans towards them just being okay. They do have one weird quirk where they (especially the vehicle mounted versions) can bully low armor APCs that have 50 cals when previously it was the other way around. I was shocked when my m113s got punked out by a btr-d at semi close range. Makes several soviet transports that were trash tier last patch into at least usable units. I dont have enough play time to say anything more certain than that. (Could of course be a skill issue tho)
Nice! I liked this video. Nice practical test which I can't do because I have no friends who play WARNO I've been thinking about buying my gf an account to use on my laptop to do these sorts of tests.
I don't use grenade launchers for their pure defensive capability, I used them for their offensive capability. Especially with the 76y I bring in a lot of the BTR-D and used those vehicles as fire suport. You get 2 pkm and 1 30mm on each transport and when assaulting buildings they're amazing, especially en masse
Thanks for the video. Don't recall you mentioning this, but the AGS deals pure damage against infantry in buildings (a significant advantage) and also seems to do more damage against low armor vehicles than the .50cal. .50cal does seem better at shooting infantry in the open, for sure. I've been using delta in the AGS humvees a lot recently and I've been pleased by how well they've performed as FD fire support.
@@kettlebottle It ignores the defense bonus of forests and buildings. Engineering tanks like the American CEV also got buffed to have their damage be 'pure' damage a patch or two ago, at the same time as the AGS.
@@hippiehippiehippiehippie Well, according to your own test it doesn't seem like it's significantly worse than the .50 even in open spaces, so given the huge advantage it has in city fights, idk. Seems like a hard choice.
The warhead of a Wombat is like 9kg of high explosive, the fact it can't oneshot light armour is hilarious. also it's HESH like the Centurion AVRE so it should ignore all cover.
tons of stuff in this game you can only find out in this exact kinda of testing, more of these videos are appreciated for sure. Me and the homies call it "state trials"
I would argue that the 7.62 are better at the moment since you can get 2 for the price of 1 50 cal. They are only slightly worse at killing infantry in a one for one comparison, thuse 2 for 5 points less than a 50cal should kill the inf evey faster. Plus you get more hp and can spread them out. The only two things that are worse is range and killing vehicles.
They could give the GMGs (low) AP values, or maybe smoke rounds to make them more interesting. Also, do the GMGs deal splash damage to blobs? This is cope, but I want to use them really badly.
I know you are a good person now hipler, but it is worth metnioning the L7 WOMBAT had a spotting rifle to increase first hit probability. Something the SPG-9 did not possess
can you please test how they engage infantry in buildings, like place the sas in a building and have the weapon fire at it it would be useful since the new urban map calls for alot of building to building shooting
Hey, I really appreciate it. Thank you I'll be honest, this video is missing a few things, like the ones you mentioned as well as the SPG-9 and M40A1, different terrains, etc. It was initially supposed to be a complaint about the grenade launcher, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, so I tested the others. (It's still not great but it used to be useless) I'll remake it, bigger and better, when I get the time. It won't be soon though. Broken Arrow beta is next week and that will take most of my time. Sorry about that!
These are mostly fire support units, they’re meant to assist infantry. I think in its proper usage, the grenade launcher unit is the best. The recoiless is best against vehicles.
I still think the grenade launcher is better because these weapons doesn't exist in a vacuum. If the infantry is moving in the open, other weapon systems can also deal with them easily. But in the urban fight, the true damage of the grenade launcher makes it unique in dislodging infantry much like auto cannon and the accuracy isn't an issue anymore.
The Wombat should have better accuracy+probably slightly higher AP tbh. It's range is fine and accurate but 35% accuracy and 15pen is kinda atrocious especially since it was quite accurate irl and could punch through 400mm RHA with its HESH round
Umm Hipler, you demonstrated in this test that you're actually wrong and grenade launchers are better than .50 cals. They are the same price, have the same range, and in a test that is the worst case for the grenade launcher (infantry running directly at it, and you have claimed the grenades will just miss) it performed the same as the .50 cal. And in addition, grenade launchers now do more damage against infantry in buildings. Also, you should have tested a pair of MMGs since they are almost the same price but still less than the .50 cal and grenade launcher for a better comparison.
Seems like the anti-tank capability of the SPGs is non-existent. Realistically, a 120mm HEAT round *should* one shot something like a BMP1, even from the front. And it *should* absolutely smoke something like a BTR 70 regardless of impact point. I think the fact that it is bad against infantry makes sense, a spread out infantry group in the open is always going to be a bad target for a recoilless gun like these, but the trade-off is that it is a very efficient solution to lightly armoured APCs and IFVs. As it stands, I actually have no idea why you'd ever bother with them - even the most basic anti-tank missile team has the same or more health, better mobility, and is far far more capable at it's role
I heard you are also Rank 1 Player in love studies and im in dire need for some dating tips. If you would release a video about this topic in the future I might get saved. Alot of us strive to have a family, u know?
Didn't eugen give agls pure damage to infantry in buildings? I wonder why you didn't test damage in buildings. Good thing to know on urban frontlines
It can be useful but generally the .50cals are better right now

From that test I would assume that for 30 points I get two 7.62 teams that would outperform the .50 while saving 5 points.

Can´t MGs and HMGs also engage helicopters?
The "team" ones can't, except the 6u6 on 76y
I would’ve used something without the traits and veterancy like para sas have but it gets the point across all the same
If the PKM can rout a 1 vet squad of say Chasseurs though it might be worth it to have two for the price of one .50
Yeah good point
