That was fun to watch! Congrats to Chloe for the win! The Hunter was able to gang up on the Warrior with her pets. But who knows what would happen in another match if different spell masteries were chosen? Or if a different order of abilities were chosen? This game is packed full of variability and fun.
Thank you Cam! Glad you enjoyed it. Yes that's absolutely right, anything could change it we played the same 2 heroes again. We do intend to, so people can see how different the play styles are :) Thanks for watching - Damian
You need a better initiative track than 4x2. But to have the warrior lose 1/4 of its hp before the first turn may be a sign that warrior needs more hp.
Hey, I just watched your video and had a small question. At one point, the warrior goes in defensive stance, giving it an extra 5hp. You put down the token and also increase your health die. The moment that you go out the defensive stance, you lose that token but don't lose that 5hp anymore? Was this a mistake or can switching stances be used to heal yourself like that? Other then that, I think the game looks really great. Can't wait to try it out myself.
Hi Yannick Well done for picking up on that! One other person over on Discord asked the same question. It was my mis-play, so i kind of of cheated and took back my mistake of which I'm sure Chloe wouldn't have minded. On the defensive stance card there is a spell called defensive hold. It states, the next time you leave defensive stance you don't loose the 5 HP and you can cast another spell now now. So in short, when i jumped into defensive stance i forgot to cast it, whoops. As it allows me to cast another spell right after it, my other plays would have been the same. You can see this defensive card close up on our campaign page. It's on the Hero Ability Cards graphic about 50% of the way down the page and it's defensive stance card for the Warrior. Thank you for taking your time to watch our video. Damian - Creator
@@heroesoftheshire4681 Hey, thank you for the fast response. Indeed, after posting this question I did see the ability card on the kickstarter page. Quickly wanna mention that this video convinced me to back this project. Keep up the great work 😀
The characters look really great and varied, so I am interested. I am just a little worried this could get stale, at least in arena mode. If both players used the same mastery and the hunter played the same abilities, could this have gone any other way? I like non-random resolution, but I am worried you will play a given matchup once and be done with it forever, since there is an optimal way to play it. I guess the fighter could have used defensive stance on the first turn for a better result and that may have saved the match. But what then? EDIT: Also a bit worried that the pets are not as interactive as they could be, due to tankyness. No one would feel compelled to devote two full turns to killing one pet instead of attacking the opponent, right?
Hi there Joris. If both players use the same hero and the same spell mastery, it would feel like an advanced game of chess, as it would be based on strategy and logic. You might know what spells you and your opponent have but the sequencing would be very different. However we do have 21 heroes, each with 3 builds so that is 63 ways to create a hero. Always using the same build sounds amazing for learning it's archetype and mastering that hero/build, but of course it reduces the replayability if you're only going to keep using the same hero. In this particular match up, if the Warrior was in stance manipulation or armoured defence build he could have handled the Hunters DPS a lot better. I personally hadn't played the Ancient Warfare path for a while so i wanted to give it a try :) If i had a healer or a tank with me in a 2v2 Arena match that whole game would have gone down differently. Looking back on my plays, i could have played much more efficiently. Similar to that in chess, where you don't make your moves fast you have to think about all the options. We were playing for fun here, not interested in the outcome of who won. If this would have been a more competitive matchup, indeed i would played optimally and taken a little longer thinking about my options. For example turn one as Chloe opened up with high damage, i should have gone into defensive stance and buffed my defence value right away. With this new high value i would have then been able to enter the brawl stance with still high defence leaving myself now way near as vulnerable to a counterattack. Learning how each hero interacts vs each other hero is exciting, 2 match ups will never be the same as it's all about reacting to each other. What might be a good opening tactic against one hero will not be a good opening tactic against another. For example the Cleric has an ability in her Mastery board that states she is immune to pierce effects. She also have an ability that says if she was attacked within the first 3 rounds she gains protection for 3 turns. As for the pets, AOE attacks will target all enemies. The warrior has very little AOE maybe the lowest in the game, so it wasn't a great match up for that, but most other heroes would slowly take them down. Yes you're right in 1v1 combat it would almost always be best to target the Hunter with a single target attack. In 2v2 or 3v3 combat i most certainly always target the boar when it enters the battlefield, as it has a spell that when it attacks it allows another pet to attack alongside it. This is quite strong, so it's good to get rid of it quickly (which is why the hunter can't start with this pet, it's an unlockable spell in her animal companions mastery). Hope that helps. Feel free to join our discord if you'd like more breakdowns like this etc.. Link is on our KS campaign FAQ. Thanks to watching.
@@heroesoftheshire4681 Thank you for the detailed response. I also figured playing a different hero or spec would help but your mention of 2v2 and different heroes' interactions has significantly alleviated my concerns regarding even playing mostly one character. I think you convinced me :)
