- In this video I go over a question requested by a viewer. This is a word problem asking you to find the length of a rectangle when given the area and width. The area is given as a trinomial and the width is given as a binomial.

sir can you do this one? find a simplified expression for the area of the shaded region the outer rectangle length is 3x and the width is 4x + 1 the inner rectangle has a width of 5x-3
Of course I can. Were you provided any more information. Maybe the area of each rectangle? They also may have mentioned that the area of the shaded is half the area of the non-shaded or something along those lines? I would need one more piece of information in order to solve this. If it is a word problem copy and paste exactly what it says. It may be providing you with information in the words that you aren't noticing. For example it may say the smaller rectangle length is half of the larger. This would mean the smaller rectangles length is (3x)/2
How about 2x^4-8x^2-x+8 the area, then x^2-2 width then the length is unknown

What are you being asked to do with this expression?
How to find a width?
It would be the exact same process because of the commutative property of multiplication xy=yx length times width is the same as width times length. Let me know if that makes sense to you. If not I can make a video explaining. Thanks for the support.
