I agree with everyone here; this is such a beautiful arrangement. There is something with the way you sang this song that just stirs the heart. I hope one day, I would be able to play this with my partner in life. In God's perfect time.
BTW: the author, Brian Wren, has amended the text of the 2nd line of the last (i.e., 5th) stanza to read "in age or youth, in calm or strife". A big improvement.
It's too bad you omitted verses 3 & 4. We are celebrating our 50th anniversary next June and it will be sung by our granddaughters as a trio. Those verses make it much more meaningful for a long-term marriage.
I understand what you mean, but for this version I wanted to focus on the joy and optimism of marriage rather than necessarily acknowledge the challenges that accompany us through our marriage journey. In the case of your 50th, the other verses are surely appropriate. Happy 50th!
Thank you so much for sharing this. We played your version at our wedding as I walked down the aisle. It was absolutely perfect. Is there any way to download a music file of this? While we load this page to listen to it, we would love to have a track to keep forever.
One version- if you still want it, is in our church hymnal (Hymn 316) Lift Up our Hearts, published 2013 by Faith Alive Christian Resources, Gr Rapids Mich (ISBN 978-1-59255-781-3)
