I listen to your wonderful life stories every chance I get, Mr. Kent. It is amazing to me how similar both our life paths have been. I grew up as a service brat, but mostly in Mid-West (MI - K.I, Sawyer AFB) & East coast (NY - Steward AFB), except early teens in Elmendorf AFB, Alaska. I also worked in the culinary during the late 1960s, on the DEW Line (Defensive Early Warning Line) along the North coast of Alaska. I also worked some in the culinary in college earning my three degrees: AAS Electronics, BS ISM, Mgmt. of Tech. Anyway, what I wanted to tell you about this morning (11-24-24) Etrike ride, is the love I felt for your wonderful poem at the end. Such wisdom comes only from living and experiencing a full life with all the mistakes and blessings that follow. You know how to look for love, Mr. Kent, and you have found it. -Peter- (P.S. Give that lucky wife of yours another hug, I lost mine years ago)
Thank you for your comment and wonderful story Peter. You probably had a strong love you your wife if the poem touched your heart like that. I have my wife the hug you requested. It sounds like you were into electronics a bit more than I was. My oldest son is like that. He is now having fun writing code for micro processers. Thanks again for your comment and God bless you.
Hello Mr. Kent. :) When I was listening to your story about your job on the boat I remembered a cook that was very kind to me, but I was surprised to hear that you had an encounter with some with the same name. Your encounter was not like mine or rather your Ruby was not like mine. :) Ruby was a grandmother that worked at the restaurant I was a dish washer at. She was a loving person that everyone except me called her grandma. I didn't call her grandma because I felt it disrespected my grandma that we visited every weekend. Still Ruby was nice to me even when she realized that I didn't call her grandma. She talked with me about many things seeing that I was newly married and gave me very good and useful advice. She made everything from scratch which was something that the current kitchen manager could not do. She was short and was the cutest grandma I ever met. I got to know he family as they would visit her at work. One of the things she told me was she liked drinking Coca Cola when she was in a hurry to not be hungry. So I tried it out and to this day it still works to kill the hunger feeling. Looking forward to seeing her in Heaven with all my family. :) Great video and great poem. It was really well thought out.
Thank you for your comment and story Maishu. That's something how different those two Rubys were. Unfortunately the Ruby I knew had many more difficulties in life than the one you knew. Thanks again for your story and God bless you.
Hi Mr. Kent, I will be 83 in march. I enjoy your treks and stories. I a currently looking at e-triks thanks to you. I ride a 4wheeler around our country roads, but need more exercise. Thanks Art from Texas.
Thank you for taking time to comment Art. Lectric e-bikes have excellent customer service. That bike in the video turned up with a bad rear axle bearing after 1000 miles. They replaced it free, no cost to me. The one I have now has over 1100 miles and running strong. Hoping you get one soon. Thanks again for your comment and God bless.
Mr Kent, I really enjoyed this video. Working on that ship surly seemed like a fun job. When all of you walked out, what happened after? Did you all return? Did they let that lady go? Whatever happened after, I certainly don’t blame you for leaving the way you did. You can only take so much abuse. Her job must have been very stressful for her, but unfortunately for her, she wasn’t a right fit for it. I could have gone on listening to more stories of your job. Perhaps on another video you could highlight more. Have a wonderful day, Mr Kent. I look forward to your next video. Oh, by the way, I loved your poem. 👍
Thank you for your comment. Yep, I felt sorry for her. As I recall, which may be inaccurate, I think she was a relative of the owners and they were trying to help her. Thanks again and God bless.
I walked off a job too. I got a vet tech position at an emergency vet working the graveyard shift. My first night I was there about an hour. It was slow so the vet told me to come back first thing in the morning to mow the lawn but I didn't come back. I didn't take the job to work as a gardener!
