    bubble wrap used as sheer curtains are great insulation. with a little water (say a spray bottle) the bubble wrap actually sticks to the glass .... plus the light still comes through...and if you do need to see out just peel it back. you may need a piece or two of masking tape on the top corners. A double layer works even better. just a thought... It comes in good size rolls at wal mart in the office department for packaging. all the best - great rig!

    Steampunk Steve, you have a really cool home....I love it ! Your story about your wife touched my heart. It's got to be hard for you, that she didn't get a chance to live this life with you. My heart goes out to you. I've been married 41 yrs, just celebrated our anniversary in Feb. I have been seriously been thinking of getting a skoolie , when my life changes. My husband has a terminal illness, we are preparing for what comes next. I admire all the work you put into your bus. I have my own health issues, so I'll have to buy one that's already converted or find someone who can do the job for me. I certainly hope I can find one as cool as yours. Thanks so much for sharing, Bob that was great !! Safe Travel guys !

    So glad I got to meet Steve through hiis video, a great guy indeed. Loved everything he's done to his home on wheels, bet its a total blast. Ive got about 4 years before we go full time. The house will be paid off and on the market and Im already looking around for the 'right' bus. Its almost built in my mind. Right now Im more concentrated on getting past all the ill side affects of chemo and radiation, slow but positive improvements! 9/2/14 doctor said cancer, gave me 90 days to live. I quit my job, entered treatment, (absolutly the worst time in my life of now 61 years but I was able to BEAT stage three lung cancer. Been 3-1/2 yrs since dr gave me 90 days, thank you Lord for allowing me to stay around, I have a little ways to go to make sure if I go that my wife will be OK. As of now, look out world we will soon be rolling to places we've never been and going to have a blast the whole time. Thank you both for sharing your life with us and inspiring us so much. I pray nothing but the best for the both of you. BTW, hey Steve, Im an old hippie from way back. What a life, I am truly blessed. July 31 this yr is our 42 year of a wonderful life together and there is nothing i would change (except the bout with cancer). Keep the wheels turning and live it to the fullest.

    Some good ideas. Lots of room in there. I like the weather gauges, insulation built into the drapes, pvc pipe on the roof sun heated shower water, all DC power, marine map light for reading in bed... The one little thing I would question and first time I heard such a thing is urine going to the grey tank seems to make it a black tank even with the separate composting toilet for poop. Don't think I would have designed it that way, depends on whether smell. Great video.

    • @cyndifoore7743
      @cyndifoore7743 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      kartof1 being a guy, do you think he uses the urinal that often? When you mix a little urine with the shower and sink water I don’t think there’d be a problem with smell.

    • @kartof1
      @kartof1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would think often. Urine breaks down but diluted enough maybe not so much. Depends on how much it's diluted. I'm not sure, new idea I haven't heard before, it might be a good idea adding just urine to the grey tank given certain circumtances. Or could just more commonly just pee in a bottle with bleach and dump it when dumping the composting toilet. I'm still thinking which way would be better. Long term boondocking conserving water the urine/waste water ratio in a grey tank his method might be too high.

    Ty Steve for Sharing your home with us ! I have to say this is one of the most interesting builds I’ve seen just yet with the 12 volt all the way through truly minimal living but having the luxury as well ! I know having your soul mate for 40 yrs of your life and loosing them has to have been hard to learn to live without them. It your a strong person! You seem like a great guy ! Many safe travels for you ! If you ever come through the Kentucky areas you’ll have to let us know ! It would be awesome to do this myself I pray I get a chance as well but ya never know what life has in store for ya truly but one thing I’ve learned in this life is it’s too short! So when you have the opportunity to get out and just breath away from the hustle and bustle do it ! I pray I get the opportunity! I’m in a place in life where I need this myself! But idk which or what to do as far as doing a build myself or getting an rv ! However it seems rvs can be so expensive and I’m a lady so I’m kinda concerned about breaking down ! You never know today what can happen or who you may run soon but one thing is sure I’m willing to take that risk and go on for it I just don’t know it’s so much to understand! Like in rvs your limited on weight ! As I guess there’s pros and cons to them all and it’s out here but it’s hard to find it all

    Holy Croly! I thought you had interviewed me while I was sleeping Bob. Steve could be eather one of uses brother. And the bus layout and his method of modeling it from cardboard are right off my blueprints. Me and my wife was maried just a few years befor he and his wife and to top it all off I have the same T-Shirt. LOL I wish I had his wood working skills though I have done some acceptable work arround my toilet stall and mid ship bunk beds. Great interview and I love his attitude and personality, and you Bob realy do a great job on these interviews. You ask the right questions. Live Long and Prosper.
