This PSA has an interesting novelty (at least one I've never seen): the driver is using and hands-free solution to make her phone call, instead of picking up the phone and looking at it. It suggests that even hands-free devices, despite not forcing you to get your eyes off the road, can be distracting enough to cause accidents. I guess I'm doing it right: I don't have hands-free devices in my car (I've tried them but concluded that indeed they still distract you a lot) and if I receive a call while driving I either ignore it or, if possible, safely stop in a safe place and answer only with my car stopped.
Y don't they make ads telling pedestrians not to wander round like zombies looking at their phones? I see it virtually everyday. They see me in the peripheral vision and expect ME to get tf out of their way!
The reality is that some people cannot divide their attention properly. A driver's attention is constantly being divided even without a cell phone and accidents happen. Looking at the dashboard, checking side mirrors, adjusting the radio, talking to passengers all take the driver's attention from the road ahead. The problem isn't the cell phone. It's that anybody who wants a license can get one, whether or not they have the skills to do so. It's not distracted drivers, but stupid ones. But, we don't take people off the road for just being stupid. So, we demonize cell phones. When what we should do is test a person's ability to do both if they own a cell phone before they can have a license. But that would be holding people accountable and we don't do that here.
I understand people want to raise awareness but how does Bluetooth Cause an accidents if anything a Bluetooth you might cause less accidents more than the accidents that are caused When you Have the phone on your ear or is Texting.
You still have some focus on the conversation over the phone instead of driving. You might not notice anything on your left or right, even with Bluetooth devices. You should dedicate 100% of your concentration and focus on the road, not 50 on the road, 50 on the fucking conversation.
You don't see police killing innocent people cos they're using their devices. Obviously they wait until it's an appropriate time to use such machinery while driving in their machinery.
I asked my driving instructor about calling with Apple CarPlay he says it’s not considered distracting driving unless you open your phone manually to do it
What would you think if they made a psa showing a car at a drive thru in the background and the next scene fades to a woman getting out her burger and eating it in shots and booming ominous music plays, and then later she screeches and the crash and it zips to black with the ad council tag?
I work in an industry where I have to monitor & process MVA’s. The smallest distraction can have horrible consequences & it can happen really fast. Have you ever turned down the radio to parallel park, or to back into a parking spot? It’s because your mind is processing millions of data input a second. Light, color, sound, thoughts, etc. Even a simple question like “what do I want to eat”, requires your brain to process memories from past food experiences, the emotions surrounding those memories, any future plans for the day, and weigh when you’ll be able to eat next. All those things require a lot of mental bandwidth. So driving smart (scanning mirrors every 5-8 seconds, 15 second eye lead time, keeping a space cushion around your vehicle, determining what signs on the road or relevant & what isn’t”) requires a lot of mental capacity.
@@thatcooldudeisawesome876 True, but anytime you're doing more than 1 cognitive task at a time, you're not going to be as competent as you normally would.
This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Her child is more distracting than the phone conversation. This driver couldn't talk to a passenger. She should even have a driver's license if she can't talk and pay attention to her driving. What a waste of advertising space.

Should be titled: Being stupid kills.
Yes. 😬
yes but either way this is really confronting.

great video on distracted driving!
Great video on BAD DRIVING! Nothing to do with the phone call. She wasn't paying attention to her main job: DRIVE SAFELY!!!! She failed....
just saw on TV. Effective PSA commercial.
shocking which is good.
Really? I was told it was bumped. Do you remember what channel it aired on? I acted in it.

Lee Andrews no kidding; I couldn't have said it any better-kudos Lee Andrews IMHO
Cheryl Lewis thanks.
Probably the smartest comment I'll see on this video.

Distracted driver ran the stop sign!
Okay that was not the calls fault she just wasn’t even trying
She had to multitask, didn't she? 😞😪
Couldn't help but think of enter sandman the whole time
This video brings tears to my eyes 😭
I agree, but have a hard time with the police driving, using computer, cell phone, radio. Who polices the police?

James Tinghino you are exactly right

Don't call people, call for action.
Well done! :)
The husband shouldn't be calling knowing that the wife is on the road with the kid strapped in the back. But all in all, she shouldn't be picking up.
When she crashes:Then you say: NOOOOOOOOO!
so having a conversation with a passenger in a car or singing a song out loud will cause an accident? Ok
It should be called NOT scanning kills.
Even breathing can be dangerous while driving.. watch out

Pogchamp
Cops need to stop looking at their laptop while driving. Set the example please. Have them disabled while moving. So hypocritical and wrong
Up
Its too bad that a phone cannot become disengaged when entering a car.
Yeah, because your phone should be disengaged when you're laying in a ditch because of a drunk driver who hit you.
A girl was KILLED by a distracted driver using his interlock device, they are EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!!!!!!!!!
why did you comment this everywhere
women shouldnt drive?
This woman shouldn't.
@@karenmetcalfe7794 indeed
No. Bad drivers shouldn't drive...
