I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought this game had an ending. It took me longer than I would like to admit as a kid to realise that this game was actually endless, and there was no secret final boss waiting for me after playing for a certain amount of time.
Since New Super Mario Bros. DS was in development at the time, the developers wanted to give players something to hold them over until NSMB came out. This originally was a Balloon Fight tech demo, with Small Mario (not Baby Mario) with balloons on his back, and the game was like Balloon Trip, except it was vertically scrolling down. This also makes sense since many sound effects in here come from New Super Mario Bros's sound library.
This game, it's so underrated. It would be awesome to see it re-released on smart phones with worldwide leaderboards. It'd be the perfect pocket platformer on the go.

The music is much more chipper than in the MIDIs ripped from the files. They sound slightly drained out and play the entire song instead of parts of it like the actual game.

I only just discovered that there's another Yoshi game for the NDS. I've played Yoshi's Island on the GBA, and must say I have a few quibbles with the NDS version: little touches like the transformation animations have been taken out - erm, why? Seeing as I have the card for the GBA version, and there are some pretty minor improvements to the NDS version, I stuck to the GBA.
I got this game for my 15th birthday, all my friends were on holiday and my parents went working, the music of baby mario falling down has a very melancholic touch to it. Not the best birthday. Funny thing is that I can't remember my 14th or 16th birthday.
It's games like this that have returned me to Nintendo. I'm so tired of Microsoft bringing modern super computers with Sony. Nintendo concentrates on simply fun factor and that's why the games are timeless.
Mark Howell they keep up with modern technology and sound and the like, but they still keep the fun factor in their games. That's a thing i love about them. never left, never will.
