Hi John ! Be safe. Keep up the excellent work
A big Thank You for Taking Me around London it saves me going up there with all the people to many for I am in my 70s would not fill safe up there only been to London about 7times in my life so A Thank You
Can I ask why the guard 💂♂️ smakes the horse 🐎 as thay dismounted
They said its how they let the horse know they are going to dismount. And they smack the saddle not the horse.
Colour does not matter he is serving his country, bless him and defending it when he is not doing ceremonial duties like this ❤
It never ceases to amaze me how many people cannot be bothered to thank the guard after having their photo taken with them. I'm sure even a smile in their direction would be appreciated.
Colour is of no consequence....and....this particular guard, if you have been watching all along is one the kindest men. Whosoever made the "colour"remark should be taken to task - shame on them.
Absolutely!
Too right. He's a smashing young man. really kind and compassionate. Those who called him out are the racists and should be banned from coming here again.
I am black and have mixed feelings about the "comment"; I don't know what was said but as long as it was not derogatory or disrespectful,I get why the person may have said that. Perhaps,it was someone not used to seeing blacks employed in this capacity. So many of the tourist come from many different places and cultures in which blacks simply are rarely seen there if at all. I have to admit that I smiled broadly when the black soldier came out with his horse because I first thought how handsome he is( all of them are but I had this bias admittedly). Then I thought of how the sight of this soldier counters the narrative that the British monarchy is racist.
Tks....the comment has been removed and I cannot remember it all. I am confident in saying that the majority of Brits are not racist (there are always some in all cultures). We are very proud of our Miltary. Yes, he is a handsome fella.@@monsterlisa3167
When i was young there were a few blacks. We had a large Hispanic population. My senior year we had them in the school. They were students and they easily fit into our groups. They were appa
King Ormonde is big and beautiful and when he came out at the change made me and a lot of other viewers excited . What a character. Seems not to many tourist wanted to tempt fate today. So glad the Blues are so firm and yell. Another wonderful video. Thank You cause without you we might never know names of the horses.
Arne is also back! Did no damage though. They just need their space, same as humans do. Magnificent animals and very intelligent.
Ormonde is easy to identify-- his blaze looks like a forearm and hand reaching up to pet his head! Totally false advertising-- go for it and find out, I'll be here watching! 🤩
Well said there is NO ROOM for coments about anyones negative skin colour.
There is no such thing as a “negative skin colour”. I truly hope that English is not your first language.
I agree, we all bleed red and no one is any better than anyone else. God created us all and loves us no matter what color we are.
Skin color is just like the outside of a book. It is what is inside that is more important. We ALL bleed red !!!!
Either bad English or a freudian slip.....The virtue signallers often make themselves appear foolish. Hoping its the former rather than the latter@@dd-bb
All of us are made in the image of God and God does not make mistakes, people on the other hand can be cruel, selfish, bigoted, among other things.
Lived in London in 77 and they would run the horses loose in a big herd. Totally awesome thing to see. We were amazed the first time we got to see it and then twice more. Looking down and watching all the horses like in the West run past our flat, no gear on them, just had their escorts guiding them. I was in the US Navy stationed there for two years and loved every minute of it. Not as crowded as now. Probably 1-3 people either side of every block all the way down Oxford Street. Sometimes I was the only one on the whole block. You couldn’t walk across Tower Bridge, had to take a bus, Tower of London tour was so limited, great now, Stonehenge you just walked all around the stones, no barriers.
That must have been amazing.
Both these Guards are special both do their jobs well. It is nice to see them both out together, and on the spectacular large horses, Absolutely special . . .Thank you John
They are both very handsome men.
Guards deserve respect
absolutely - goes without saying. They have a job to do and they make sure it is done well. Kudoos to all who serve in our Military.
They have patience to deal with people getting so close to them. It seems disrespectful in away because they are doing their job.
Problem is Deborah, majority of these tourists think this is a show put on for them straight out of Disneyland. It is'nt. They are our military in thee UK, both guards and horses are soldiers and are working all the time. They are not standing there to be mauled all over. Some days I feel like going down and pawing their stupid faces and maul their bodies and see how they like it, dare bet they won't, but neither do the guards and the horses, they have these knob heads doing it all day long, just can't keep their filthy hands to themselves. Bet majority NEVER wash them after using to public toilets. I know some religion always use their hand to wipe their backsides, never use paper like normal people. do they wash their hands, doubt it?
Why do people bring dogs to see the horses? I know service dogs need to be there but plain pets should be kept at home.
We all the same understand Human Body colour does not matter xx
Touch, touch, touch that’s all they want to do. How absolutely irritating it is for the horse and the guard. 🥴
They should charge $1 per photo.
They should just charge admission which would go a long way in the upkeep involved.@@joeshithragman3264
I'm Flemish, and we have more in common with your guards, as you think. We fought Napoleon together with the English and Dutchmen, that's why you see Grenadiers troops named at Flemish and Dutch cities. The best known are the Nijmegen grenadiers. Also, our king Albert was Married to Elisabeth I, Belgium was always a sanctuary for British Royals. This guy in front is the gatekeeper, sometimes they stand in the back of the compound, sometimes in the front. And I think they stay there for 15 minutes. And giving tourists the chance to take pictures as well. You know London is counting on tourists.
Now i’m starting to dislike being French.
Mais non! 🇫🇷❤️🙏🏻
@@LondonCityWalks kind of you. I’m reassured 🇫🇷❤️🇬🇧
@@christophermichaelclarence6003 Don't be, it happens so long ago, that a lot of people forgot about that. My quote was just informatic. Take care :)
@@Bluelagoonstudios Thanks, really appreciate it. That era was a long time ago. Way before Queen Victoria. You’re referring the Napoleonic War when the Whole Europe was against France
Hello John you have a cheeky laugh, these poor guards and beautiful horses have to put up
With alot from the tourist godbless Each And everyone of the guards and beautiful horses 🐎 thank you John ❤❤❤xxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Wouldnt it be fun to "hear" what the horses are thinking...
I can well imagine it won't be polite, more on lines of oh fcuk, damn touchy feely tourists again, can't they take the hint we don't like being mauled at work, unlike THEM, WE have a job to do, suggest they go back home and get on with it. Did you hear about what Indigo did to that drama queens stupid hat when she would'nt stop pestering him, yanked it of and trod it in all the shite. lol, Ormorode wanted to give him high five for that? lol 🤣🤭🤭🤭🤭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You may not really want to know!!
I AGREE
‘ ahh come closer, no I won’t bite, or “I’m not into this horsey thing today”or “yes, yes I know I’m gorgeous”! Just a guess..
and they call us animals?!?!
Why even think about the colour of the guard, they are all wonderful, doing a great job in difficult circumstances. Brilliant change over as usual I have seen it many times but still enjoy it so much. The horses seem to be getting taller, what are they feeding them on🤣 Love the horses are so beautifully groomed and shiny. Is Monty 17 hands high, he is quite tall, is this horse taller than than him.
The footguards should take a page from Ormonde's book and employ a little sword poke.
Yes it would be tempting but absolutely not allowed.
My favorite horse. 😍 You know now it's Ormonde aka "don't invade my space"
and he has his pals Arnie etc. He is back as well.
Hello John I'm watching from the United States I'm in Georgia and I love watching the guards they are amazing at what they do, thank you for sharing this with us.
Don’t know why, but I keep finding myself watching your channel, apparently I love it!!❤❤❤🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
The guards could be purple with green pokadots for all I care, they are there to do a job and they do it very well considering the tourists behaviour.
Overlord is such a great name for a horse! 😂
I'm always impressed at the synchronization of the guards when stamping. I envy your weather right now. 10° C is lovely. I like the cooler weather. We're having a heat wave right now. 30° plus. Thanks for the video John. Always so interesting.
You are welcome too our freezing cold, wet, windy weather, have yours over what we have all winter if we could. we have to put up with this from Oct to March, so if you want rain, cold and wind for 5, sometimes 6 months or more you are very welcome to it. Hate weather in my country, never get any decent warm weather, lucky to get 2 days of sun in the summer up North where I live, the South of England always steal the good weather and leave us with the crappy lot. No wonder we are depressed here, like constant winter all year round.😒😒😮💨😮💨😒😒☹☹☹😕😕😟😟🙁🙁😰😰😰😱😮😦😦😧😧😤😤😤😖😖😣😣😞😞😤😤😤
That is Ormonde’s blaze! 👍
King ORMONDE is just the beasty best.
The two black guards are some of my favorite guards . There are several other guards that I like to see , they are all good though . I always enjoy seeing the horses and their different personalities.
Oh my gosh John you have no idea how much I enjoyed your video. I could watch these guys all day.
I really think after 911 happened security has become really tight.
The first I I went to England was a week after 911. Then I went a couple years later and another time. Each time the changing of the guard was a lot of military with machine guns.
Now after seeing this video I what to go to England again.
i love watching, thank you for coming and showing this with all of us
Thanks for this. I had been missing seeing the dismount in the yard during the colder season.😊❤
Love your videos ..thanks so much !!🙂
Best people-watching ever!!! I forget I'm not actually in London. Thanks for the narration.
That horse is Ormond & he is a nipper, biter.
I love how the horses are so gentle with the children.
I remember visiting the guards when I was 14 years old in 1965, I could get so close to the Guard that I could see him wink at me, there was not the people you see today in fact it was very quiet it was a lovely experience for me. I didn't dare touch the horse at the time.
What a lovely horse and kind guard
hello john thank you for sharing this video hope you are keeping well
To stand with just one of these guards and horses, its a privilidege, not a right
All our guards are working and serving soldiers, pls respect, they are not there for your pleasures, they have a job to do, and a very proud job, you disrespect one, you disrespect them all
Thankyou to eveyone of our serving soldiers\guards, and Horses, Ormande Indigo to name a few, ♥️♥️♥️👏👏👏👏♥️♥️
They also disrespect us!
I think many of the problems come from people not being informed and not speaking, understanding or reading English .....what a nightmare
Their travel agent should give them the tourist info before they come!
Yes they do seem to be louder and react more towards silly tourists.🇨🇦❤️🇬🇧
I was watching a documentary today where a Lt Colonel Matthew Woodward was explaining about the difference between the Life Guards and the Blues and Royals. He said something along the lines of - The Life Guards are seen as tall and professional and the Blues and Royals are seen as good looking, charming and get all the girls. He is a Blues and Royals. 🤣
😂😂😂
Think I saw that too...they are a brotherhood and have a friendly competition with each other but when push comes to shove they work together seamlessly.
Ive tried googling the difference but kept coming up with different answers.
Crazy moment! This black guard is my favourite. He´s a wonderful knight and horsman
There are two black guards this hour I think.
A nice video. Excellent commentary with a good knowledge of the guards and horses. Nice camera work too. 😊😊😊
My new favorite channel! Watching from new hampshire, usa love your videos! Thank you for bringing London to the world 🥰
A very warm welcome to the Channel Charlene! 😊❤️
@@LondonCityWalks thank you so much! It's cold here in the white mountains of the great north woods!, 🥰
@@charlene555it’s 62 here in Kentucky and I love it. I hate cold weather.
@@annpachini2155 it's snowing and cold up here!! Brrrrrr 🥰
What beautiful Jose's and guards! Thank you.
Yiu are so REAL John..and thats why you are a amazing man. ..❤
I'm just curious but how are you having conversations with people as if you are in a live chat? I have never seen a live on your channel, only uploads. Are your lives for members only? I really enjoy your channel and appreciate the commentary and insights you bring to us. It is amazing how quickly an hour can pass while watching these magnificent servicemen and their wonderful horses just doing their job! Thank you for your videos, you are appreciated!
Earlier this year I did many hours of TikTok LIVEs at Horse Guards. During these videos I'm reposting, I'm reading comments on the screen from the viewers during those live broadcasts and responding.
Don't worry... many folks at Horse Guards also thought I was talking to myself. 😂😂😂
Hello Ormonde, looking spectacular as always, trooper won’t be asking tourons to move as Ormonde is able to keep them at a distance 🐎🐎🇬🇧
He is a fantastic guard and does a great job.
Apparently, the Guards shoulders have to align with the outer edge of the arch wall, I saw a superior correcting a Guardsman one day.
bless the British Army its what makes them great
I saw that too. Also saw where when the superior told him to move forward he must have replied back that the horse was getting anxious and that was why he was so far back. The officer nodded and left
@@annpachini2155 The Guards do reverse the horses back inside the box when they become anxious but l think they like the Guards to be able see up and down the road.
Its true, they have to be aware of what is going on. Many times due to protests etc.they have to take the horses inside. The horses are trained for battle so this could be a big problem with loud noises.@@hettyphilips
Watching this on Dec 26! Happy Boxing Day to you, John!! Love your vids and sense of humor!!!!❤😊
Horses are just like any other animal, you start jumping around, squealing, screaming, the horse is gonna react, if your unsure, and not a horse person, keep your distance,
I would say it was simple, but, many can't follow simple 😂
I thank you John for bringing the horses to me. If I ever visit London I would have to stay away from the Kingsguard. Have serve allergies to horses.
Best you watch the videos.
I thought 3 white socks with the square cut out blaze was Ormonde
In my naive, uninformed early days I was nowhere near as semi knowledgeable about the horses... 😇🤦🏽♀️
Ormonde has the white part on his face that looks like a Fist nd arm. I think maybe 1 sock. Arnie ha 3 spots on his L nail and is either dark brown or black. There is a 3rd one (can't remember his name) but he has not been there for a while. John knows them well o maybe he can confirm.
Just started watching, what a nice surprise to have today which was becoming boring up until now.
All I see beauty respect and dedication
I hate racism! We are all Gods children! My Dad used to say., He just loves variety!
While our colors may be different. The color of our blood is the same. That young man deserves all the respect given. His service and sacrifice to keep everyone safe is a testament to that fact. Who ever you are that made that absurd comment? You should grow up. Absolute nonsense sir. 😡😡😡
Thanks so much for reposting some of these previous video's. I miss seeing them daily and this makes my days.
I love watching but I'm always amazed the way tourists seem to have to touch the horses. No one tried that with our rodeo competition horses. Not social at all. Kudos to the trooper & their gorgeous horses for their patience.🇺🇸
Why don't people respect the accepted 2 feet of personal space.
It's well researched that any closer is intimidating and even threatening. 😮
Well said and necessary!
I love your videos. Here in Australiali we don’t have anything like this . ❤️
THANK YOU GUARDS FOR YOUR DEDICATED SERVICE TO YOUR COUNTRY AND KING
They are the best!
John - I live in Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA, and there are Amish communities here. I have yet to see a horse that can wave. So many London tourists wave at the horse. Not sure what they expect in return.
Absolutely beautiful horses and huge respect to All the guards they do a fantastic job considering what they have to put up with everyday.
Hey John any idea how old the horses are when the Army takes charge of them😂
3/4 years for HCAV 🙏🏻🐴
Love the Gentle Giant. What a sweetheart.
Those poor Guards must be completely worn out at the end of the day…😢. Some people have no decorum or dignity!
When not on duty in the box they are behind the scenes making sure their uniforms are sparkling and I believe they have some duties shared with the groomers. They work hard.
I completely agree with you about social media and sharing everything. Less cameras as well.
so many posers just think these guards and their horses are just props!! God Bless them all for their
LONGSUFFERING!
Ormonde is a beautiful horse hes happy biting
My favourite accent is scottish. Wonder if any guards have scottish ancestry?
Friend of mine in the Blues and Royals is Scottish. He's one of the best known faces in the Blues... and no-one would ever guess he is Scottish. 😂😂
What a strange thing to say, why wouldn't some of the Guards be Scottish or have Scottish ancestry?
Hi there John. I love your channel! I love that you explain things I want to learn. I am from the United States. Thank you for your channel.
ty for your video's I have been watching for a long time from the usa
Magnificent Horse 🐎
Horses are measured in hands 4 inches to one hand. The horse you said was 17.5 is not correct. 17.3 then goes to 18hh.
Another good video John thanks👍
Thank you for your videos you share and i would like to wish you and your family a merry Christmas and a happy new year 🎄🤶🎊🎅
Regarding not telling you a horse's name....maybe they are afraid a bad guy will suddenly call out its name and distract the horse???
❤❤❤❤Is that Ormonde? ❤🇦🇺♥️🇬🇧🐴⚔️🥰👍
I am wondering why he wouldn't tell you. I heard you commenting he might not supposed to engage with the public, lets just say he does females, and takes pictures with them also. Enough said Amanda.I love your videos. I'm a fan from the U.S.
Just make them get away from the horse and guard.
Loved these Guards!
They are absolutely such beautiful horses
John. Was trying to find you..was told you are wearing a cow boy hat. But i do not see any..raise you hand. 😊
Excellent video. The horses are actually the same as the soldiers and are under the same rules, not saying what the soldiers names are.
Good to know.
Regarding not telling you a horse's name...maybe "they" are afraid a moron will suddenly call out its name and distract or scare people???
At archway...mark 47:31 are those new ground rising traffic post?
Horses are measured in hands and to the tops of their shoulders also known as the whithers
Ummm wonder what the Horses would say about the Tourists if they could speak ???
They stay till they are fed up with the tourists
Perhaps the officer you spoke to didn't know the names of the horses and probably thought he would have looked foolish if he had said so.
Have you noticed the blues wear their chin guards under their chins not like lifegaurds that wear them right on their chins
Yes that’s another difference between the two regiments. However there is one Lifeguard who wears his chin strap under his chin. I’ve not noticed any other Lifeguard that does it. Not saying there isn’t I’ve just only seen the one guard
I really like listening to you talking you explain everything thankyou
Good manners, comon since, respect etc, is disappearing
why are people not listening to the police? and I love your videos
Watching from Pennsylvania USA. Absolutely love your channel!
It’s Ormonde
Hi there it's a good job Karen wasn't here when the guard gently nudged the 2 male tourists away from him because she would be telling him off by now just like she does when they shout at kids for going in the arches
She'd be telling him it's a good job he isn't a Boxman, otherwise she wouldn't let him sit on her horse... 🐴😂
As a child ( a Loooong time ago now) whenever I went to Horse Guards there were tourists but in much fewer numbers and there was some touching and we could give the occasional treat (a mint or an apple) But no one ever went grabbing for the reins and I never heard a trooper shout at anyone. There was a great deal more respect for them back in the 1950's and even the 1960s when students were always rioting about the Vietnam war.
The sentries at Buckingham Palace were moved inside the courtyard in response to different security concerns over time. The posts had been moved inside the railings since the 1960s after an incident where a Coldstream guardsman, irritated by a tourist, marched towards the tourist kicking her ankle in the process.
You see like a good guy! - How about showing us what YOU look like?
I hear a striking resemblance to your erstwhile narrator.. 😇
Ob schwarz oder weiß,er Dient sein Land, und ist stolz darauf 👍👏❤❤❤🐎🐎🐎 .
