There are plenty of players who impress at a young age but disappear after 1-2 years. Zidane's biggest achievement was not gaining those skills at a young age but doing it for years in different leagues.
Zidane was unfortunate to be born in france where french footballers at that time did not receive immediate acknowledgement, if zidane was brazilian, dutch or Argentinian, he would of been talked about much earlier like messi, R9 for instance. Zidane put France on the map as major footballing international powerhouse, because of him french players get more hype from their early age. Also French league is not blessed with great club teams, so ziziou had to play with unfancied clubs and show his talent there to get noticed, it was after he took a small team like Bordeux to UEFA Cup final, which was a big tournament back then, where Juventus wanted to sign him. That tournament was turning point for him where big club like Juventus wanted to sign him.

The french league when he was there was pretty respectable too. Big clubs like Marseille, PSG, Monaco. Zidane developed his game as the years went on.
