We are a family of 6, we went camping in a tent and it rained so much it started to leak, my wife went on market place found an old 1989 5 berth swift caravan 10mins away from us, and we bought it there and then. Took it out few more times then decided to buy a newer one, bailey pageant auvergne 5 berth went out 7 times this year to some great camp sites .have booked 3 holidays for 2025 already. Love towing and love spending time with the family. Great video mate all the best
That’s what it’s all about isn’t it! Getting out and spending time altogether 😊we’re in the process of finding some to book ready for next year and we can’t wait! Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching 😊
I started caravaning in the late 90s till early 2000s then I stopped but wanting to get away again the cost of holiday companies was too expensive so I've been using my Berlingo as a micro camper this year and have enjoyed it very much and have been to some great places but I wanted some more space and comfort for longer trips so I've bought another caravan would have preferred a campervan or motorhome as I'm on my own but they are very expensive as well and as my van was less than £2500 it was the cheapest option I've just had my first trip away and I'm hoping to have many more in 2025
We agree, the cost of holiday companies is now just too much to justify. What caravan did you end up settling on in the end? Looks like you got it for an absolute bargain! We found some lovely smaller ones that would be perfect for us when the kids are grown! Hope 2025 is full of awesome trips away for you 😊
@@jeremysymes it's a 2 berth swift challenger 400 se end kitchen corner bathroom with the front seating bed layout it's a 2001 van so quite old but in very good condition it had some service history and was serviced this year I've just had it serviced again as there was some small jobs needed doing it had 2 small patches of damp 1 has been repaired and the other could probably be done unfortunately that is a problem with caravans of any age but it's still a great starter van
I can definitely relate to all the questions around "why did you buy a caravan" and "motorhomes are so much cooler!". Main reason for us though was we were sick of paying a lot of money in the UK for rental properties that were dirty and pretty disgusting. Now we have a home from home which is clean and we know no one else has slept in 😊. Main two reasons for a caravan over a motorhome (campervan just too small for us) was cost and ease. I.e. once you've pitched up, you're done (we tend to stay in one place and explore locally up to around 30 miles rather than tour round). Works great for us, but everyone's different.
We are exactly the same! We pitch up and then investigate using the car and we can go as far as we wish! We found when he had the Motorhome it was just too much for us to drag the whole thing out with us again AND the kids even if someone needs to just pop to the shops we can take the car and not the whole house 😂
I am a 66 year old female. I towed our Bailey Unicorn Black Edition Cabrera from Calais down through France to near Narbonne and back in September……..brilliant fun! In total I towed 1,600 miles.
@@JackieCollins-gz2ko wow that’s amazing🤩 hopefully in the near future I’ll have the confidence to go over to France! But that’s an achievement 1,600 well done!
We hired a Campervan first and our experience was pretty similar. I’d add that going anywhere when you have your pitch is a bit of a pain, parking up particularly so, limited to sites nr a bus stop or a reasonable walk to wherever you want to go, just didn’t work for us. The caravan is more flexible. We took our young kids all over Europe in the 90s (tents) and they loved it. Roads are great, toll roads especially good and quiet although a bit pricey, camp sites over there are really good, we had great holidays. Both my kids really took to French and languages, think it broadened their horizons. You’ll have a blast.
We are dying to take the kids (and ourselves!) over to Europe! It’s just the driving on the other side of the road that makes us slightly nervous 😂 but not nervous enough to NOT try it 😅 can’t wait to explore the world! Thanks for commenting 😊
Definitely agree with everything you discussed, we're a family off four and affordability is a reel issue. Caravan life opens up so much for us, weekends away, fantastic fun family holidays and most importantly making memories. Happy Christmas to you, looking forward to many more great videos 😊
It’s amazing how much more opportunities we have to go away as a family now! Thank you for watching and commenting I really appreciate it! 😃and happy Christmas to you too!
Love this! I started caravanning just over 2 years ago for the exact same reasons. I have a 3 year old son and my wife is pregnant so we have another on the way and I can't wait for the years ahead of us going away as a family making memories and having adventures. Getting a caravan has been one of the best decisions we have made.
@@markmorgan2665 thank you for watching 😀 it really doses make such a different owning a caravan you just have so much freedom, we are so excited to get out and make some memories they are only small once. I hope you and your family make some amazing memories too! 😊
Another decent video. There was our main line "Caravaning time is family time" we miss that these days. Also be good to get away from their phones of doing the same thing.
Every reason you have done it is exactly why we did , im also self employed and my wife works Monday to Wednesday so when we can we try and do Thursday to Sunday short breaks when the kids are off, it just works so well, and also abroad is just crazy I don’t know how people afford it two to three times a year
