    You're right Glenn that it's a good idea to have a fire extinguisher for the house and car(s). The product that you demonstrated does a good job of putting the fire out and doesn't leave a mess. Great work on the install for both of your vehicles. Have a good one Glenn!

  • @SmittySmithsonite
    @SmittySmithsonite 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How the heck did I miss this one? Sorry buddy! Great idea!! You've seen one of my fires in the shop there a while back. Yeah, the regular extinguishers make a MESS!! My whole shop was fogged out, and that stuff was burning my lungs big time. Really good for asthma, lol! I need to get one of those for the Silverado. My brother's '02 Duramax caught on fire while he was at work - from the damage pics, it looked like the battery had an internal short. Melted his dash and windshield in the right corner, and burned the paint off his hood in that area, and the fender. Luckily insurance covered it. He had thousands of dollars worth of modification in that one. Giant turbo, built Allison, ARP head bolts with performance gaskets, 5-stage tuner, etc..
    I almost lost my '72 El Camino one rainy night after I was back home in MA from 2 years out in AZ. I had an ammeter under the dash (along with oil and water temp gauges) - one night it was raining, but still hot and humid out. I had the heat on for defrost, along with the under dash A/C unit to kill the humidity, plus wipers, lights, etc. - a pretty big load for that system. Probably 50A total, or even more whenever the electric radiator fan kicked on. My buddy and I were driving, and all of a sudden, SILENCE - lights, wipers, heat, radio , engine - everything dead! Then I hear my buddy go, "YOU GOT A FIRE!!!" Right between my legs, lol! The insulation had broken down from the years of heat out in AZ, and with the heat from all the accessories running, it completely broke down and short circuited. Wish I had that on video - I was able to move alot faster back then! I pulled over with no brake or steering assist, hopped out, whipped the hood open, and yanked the key out of my battery disconnect switch on the negative cable. Then I ran back to the vehicle and blew the fire out, HAHAHAHA! This all happened in a matter of 20 seconds!! I couldn't do that today after sprinting like that - I'd pass out, LOL! Saved the car. Was only wiring damage, and of course, that gauge went into the trash. :)
    Another fire I had was in my '71 C20. I had just put a brand new crate engine in it, and after finishing up at 2AM in front of my parent's house, I couldn't resist going for a test drive. Had I waited until morning, I would've saw the positive cable resting right on a header tube!! I got 300' up the road, when everything went dark and quiet! Popped the hood and saw a raging inferno along the battery and cable down the side of my freshly painted engine. No battery disconnect on that one! Luckily I was able to rip the negative cable right off the terminal, then I frantically grabbed dirty snow and tossed it on the engine. Got the fire out, but destroyed my nice paint!! The 4 AWG cable melted in half! Was a big copper ball at one end. I still have it hanging in my barn as a trophy, and a reminder, LOL!
    You'd think I'd have an extinguisher by now in my vehicles ... :D

      @ozzstars_cars 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow Smitty those stories are on fire!🔥 Holy crap you need an extinguisher in your truck for sure. It's got to be a sick feeling when one of your toys starts to turn to crispy bacon. @@ozzstars_cars - I hear that! I said the exact same thing to him. I guess it was because of where the most damage was. Even to me, someone who never assesses fire damage, it was obvious the battery went up.
      Trans is GREAT! Took the truck to see dad this Sunday. Passed a car, got up to 90 - shifts fast and firm bottom to top! Real nice. Before, you could never feel 3rd and 4th, but now you really feel it hit. Should last a good, long time. Highly recommend PerformaBuilt to anyone. The owner called me right away as soon as I placed my order, and we discussed future plans for the truck, my driving habits (TO THE RUG! LOL), and all the towing I do. He assured me that nothing I could do would break this one. Exactly what I wanted to hear. 👍😎

    I was just talking to my brother about this topic! It is crazy that America 🇺🇸 & Canada 🇨🇦 do not have the culture of having a fire 🔥 destinguture! I guess you supposed to run away then enter a battle of inssurance and your car may explode and kill some lives. I am originally from 🇪🇬 Egypt (a developing third world country) but guess what! You car will never pass inspection without fully charged fire destinguture! And if the cops stops you foe any reason and saw any problem with ur fire destinguture the u r sleeping in jail tonight!
    The culuture there that all cars comes brand new with a fire destinguture mount and a full factory sealed fire destingures! And if any thing happend to your car or any other car in the street, you don't run a way and let the fire escalate! You fight the fire and save lives until the real fire fighters arrives! Here in the US when i bought my first car i thought my fire destinguture has been stolen!! But i did not see any mount! Then i bought the old fashion one and it never left my driving seat until now! But thank you very much for teaching me about different types of fire destiguture! Because, the only one i knew about before this video is the old fashioned dry one that leave everything around you covered in powder. But the figher fighters refill them for free! So please buy any kind just once and you may save lives. Please excuse my poor english writing ✍ skills :) Thank you!
