Generally, what is the most used/ efficient tarp size? Good things too are Lipton cup of soups, Swiss miss for drink, tea bags, instant spud envelopes, jerky etc...all flat, lightweight, and nutritious ..don't forget 2 days of RX meds...

Personally, I like a tarp ranging from 6x8 up to 10x10. The tarp that I have shown here is a 6x8 tarp. I chose it because it's lightweight and compact, and fits the pack really well. If I were using a larger 3-day pack and was afforded the extra storage, I'd go with a 10x10 tarp.

    I would add a Shamogh. It's multipurpose .

That was a pretty good video, saying that, I would had a full tang fixed blade knife along with a small folding saw to help not just with processing firewood but other things that you may not be able to do with that folder. Not sure if that container you have for water is single wall if not I would switch it out for one so you could boil water in that. One other thing is seeing you have a compass with you why not go ahead and add a topo map also of your area. On that dryer lint maybe add some vaseline into it, it would extend the burn time and will light in somewhat wet conditions.

Thanks! I agree with the need for a fixed full tang knife. When I go out in the woods hunting or hiking, I usually carry a 5" K bar and overlooked including it in this pack as I would already have it on me. A saw would also be a nice addition. The container for the water source is a hydroflask, so I wouldn't boil anything in it and if push came to shove, I'd use the canteen cup to boil water. If you know the area that you're going to be in ahead of time, topo maps are a great resource to have and should absolutely be included. I'm still toying around with different DIY fire starters and would be curious to see how long/well the Vaseline would work. I've made some in the past consisting of candle wax, wood shavings, and dryer lint that have worked well, but I'll have to give the Vaseline a shot.

Good video, with good items to carry. Not a lot of fluff items because it’s tacticool. You suggest legitimate items, with a couple of items that I never thought of for my get home bag. Be careful and stay safe.

I have no problem with carrying an extra knife because I carry a pocket lock back and a neck knife for EDC, I'll add a belt knife on scouts or day hikes, and if I'm camping or evac. I'll add a knife in my pack, but as far as having a sharp knife I' also carry a pocket sharpener for EDC and a whet stone in my pack

I bought the backpack several years ago when I was going through infantry school. It's called the Rogue Commuter by Mercury Tactical. Here's the link to it mercurytacticalgear.com/products/rogue-commuter-backpack-coyote

I would suggest a light tarp and 6 light weight (Kelty) tent stakes also. That way you can use the poncho with the poncho liner as a ranger roll. I have a cheap (Mora) knife in my bag, so I can process a bit of firewood if I need to. I have that charger too, and the solar recharge is a joke. I take it out of my pack twice a year and wall charge it. Unfortunately, I work in Wash DC, so no carry pistol in my get home bag. 😑
