Whoa ... that last exchange: Johnny Cash: "Is there anything in this room you want?"
    Marty Stuart: "Just your love."
    Johnny Cash: "You got it."
"Just Your Love" feels like a song to me. Beautiful.

That is the most beautiful story I’ve ever heard about Johnny, I think it’s due to Marty’s story telling, conning from a true friend that loved him. Viewing this moving video on the heels of watching Mr.Stuart throughout the great Pbs documentary "Country Music" & the accompanying concert film at the original Opry house from earlier this year. Along with all the older giants of the music who was able to tell their own stories in that series, hearing the voices of the next generations like MS speak with so much reverence for their musical inspirations/peers is one of the major highlights for me. This man's voice could've narrated the whole documentary even though the fine actor Peter Coyote did a great job. Among the endless amounts of great info I learned was that Mr. Stuart was one of the pallbearers at Pop Staples home going. From a fine teenage musician to one of the finest of his generation as an adult, Mr. Stuart has done great!

“Who killed who?” What a line! I remember my best friend facing that lonesome walk and was a hard nut to the end. Tired of a preacher hounding him to salvation he replied “I tell you what ole son, when I git down there where you say I’m goin, I’m gonna to find the hottest rock in that place and jump up on it so while the devil is jabbin me in the ass with his pitchfork that bastards gonna be breakin a sweat!”

Marty was living in Roy Orbison house ,Roy had designed and instructed the builder Braxton Dixon on just how to he wanted it done. Braxton also built Johnny's house .Actually Braxton was building it for himself,Johnny convinced him to sell it to him . I tell this because Roy and Johnny were soul brothers .Johnny Cash and June were the God parents to all of Roy's children.

Sad. These country music people are the salt of the earth. All of them came from the humblest of beginnings. Most from houses with tin roofs on them. None of them ever claimed to be perfect. Most came from poor Christian families who worked hard to make a simple living. They had natural born musical talents and learned to entertain themselves and each other. Johnny Cash became a National Treasure and his voice is as recognizable as any famous artists paintings. He suffered in this life. And still he gave us great musical gifts to enjoy and remember. God grant him rest. The man had faith.

Even though they didn't show the picture, I know the one he's talking about. When I was a kid, we had a cabin on the Warrior River. There was a little general store there that looked like it hadn't changed a bit since the 20s or 30s. They had pictures of these old Indian chiefs in that same pose. Very stately and dignified, as if they were some oracle waiting for some pilgrim to come and seek their wisdom. The Johnny Cash picture looks like it belongs there with them. I think it was a very fitting way for him to leave.

I don't if Marty realizes how much of a legend he is among a certain segment of country fans. He has not had the crossover commercial success of a Johnny Cash but he is every bit as much a national treasure, not only for the eclectic musical accomplishments but especially his role as a promoter and curator of Americana music.

You need to see the excellent documentary, *’Johnny Cash:Redemption of An American Icon.’*
Just saw it & was so moved. Learned so much!
      Plenty of Marty input.
Very well done & kept my full attention from beginning to end...♥
The pic is there. It’s also in another vid here.
Lyrics of ‘Dark Bird’ towards the end brought me looking.

That's a hell of a thing, to carry with you. I have to wonder...... Did that very question register? Being as intimate, as they were..... Ask me the same question, I'll tell you a similar story. My grandma raised my eldest sister, and I. Mom was a WW2 Marine, and between 2000, and 2003, was in, and out of the V.A. January, of '03, was # 7. Her last one. I didn't go, that day. My sister, and brother-in-law missed her by 30 minutes.

Elvis Presley a Johnny cash was good friends a started out about the same yr they both were raised by Christian mom's that raised them right I don't believe either one of them love a faith ever wavered in God a I believe they both were poor at heart a good loving souls. My favorite singer will always be Elvis presley he was such s a unique emotional man gorgeous a great singer. Johnny cash was a good singer also.
