I put one of those kits on my Wife's 08 Suzuki VL800 rode it around and it was wobbly as heck! so put the bike in my garage and installed struts on the back to eliminate the wobble and now she's stable as a rock and the wife loves it.
Hi, this is a great way to do a trike at home, i am looking at triking my 2008 Honda Goldwing juat got to work out how to do the rear connections. Any ideas? Bob from Australia.
Asking this as someone who knows 0 about metalwork, would it still work without those big plates over it? Or is there another way of just hooking up two wheels on the back part?
Thanks man...it still uses the original rear wheel for power train and suspension...the trike frame simply goes around it and the new axles have there own suspension travel.
Hi there, this setup was somewhat universal due to the torsion axles being able to be adjusted to ride height. The kit was from sidetrike.com and it should verify there if your bike is compatible. Be warned that the kit came with really no instruction that assisted me even though it claimed to have documentation. I ended up having to fabricate based off of one picture I found online so I would not attempt this build unless you have good welding and mechanical skills. Hope that helps; good luck!
ok, thanks..I have ordered the flexiride adjustable half axles and wheels/tires. I am following a couple of videos and your video to approximate the framework. I plan on using 1X2X eighth in. thick rectangular tubing and will plan the belly pan to fit my bike/exhaust system.
hi, the rectangular that you welded, what was his dimension,is it 1/4 thick? how did you attached it on the GW? i have an 1984 and want to do the same here, thanks gervais
The rectangular tubing that is welded to form the runners is 1/8 inch thick tubing. Everything was 1/8 inch thick except for the belly plate; that was 1/4 inch and I drilled holes in that to accept U bolts which mount around the frame of the bike. Four U bolts mount the 1/4 inch belly plate to the frame of the bike and then the back is free floating for suspension room. Hope that helps; good luck!
Nope, the axles take the weight and it is a free floating suspension. The axles had adjustments on them and I had to set it properly based on the bikes weight and the clearance between the trike runners and the bikes frame and bumper.
Obviously not a job for the average guy, but if you have the talent and tools, very nice! One concern might be that the owner is the test pilot. Wonder what the insurance company might say? Not throwing cold water in this, just thinking.
This wasn’t an original design as the description says. It was fabricated based on a picture from sidetrike.com which you should check out if you are looking to try this. Good luck!
BEWARE! I had a Motor Trike kit installed by Bob Bowman Superior Trikes, Florence, SC. They knowingly delivered my trike to me with numerous issues and 2 dangerous issues = did not torque down handle bars and they almost came off while riding and reverse battery was wrong size and installed incorrectly which melted the terminals. If Superior Trikes didn't know all of the 12 issues prior to delivery then they shouldn't be doing any installations at all! I have pictures, videos, text msgs, tel nbrs, email addresses etc. for anyone to see. Motor Trike corporate (President Jeffrey Vey) told me I had to have the very dealer that did the shit installation repair the issues or warranty would be void. Is that legal?
@@AaronVozzolo It's very simple. First remove your rear wheel. Second, weld your swing arm to the frame. Finally mount the rear differential from a Mazda MI-5 to your swing arm. Voila, Trike! In my state, what you have isn't even considered a motorcycle. It has 4 wheels on the ground, therefore it is an automobile.
I really wish you hadn't added the seizure and vomit inducing video cutouts making it like a terrible strobeligt... Can't pay attention to the video. Would like a longer one of the build without that.
A sub-sampled video so you cannot see stuff clearly. Is this what supertrike/sidetrike asked you to do? So to not reveal the dimensions and their fabrication/design "secrets"? You did not design this, you bought it as a kit with 15" wheels
Haha thanks for restating what I posted in the description from the beginning! “Summary: -Entertainment oriented overview of a simple way to turn a bike into a trike. -This is not my original design; it was fabricated from a picture from sidetrike.com” Anyway... Thanks for watching!
your vid didn't show how you designed the drive train, how you connected the frame to the bike front and many other things...in other words the video kinda sucked. But from what you did show good job.
Hi there...sorry you couldn’t get what you wanted out of the video.. as stated in the description this was not my design and I made the video as a short entertainment focused overview of the project.

Have you got a ready-made to bolt onto my 81 Honda Gold Wing GL1100 ? And.. how do I add a reverse?
Hi there..see comment below for answer. Thanks for watching
WOW!!!! Very Interesting

I would check out sidetrike.com for ideas. That’s what I did, as the video description said. Thanks!
Great skills but basically built a bike with training wheels
Love this great job
Hey thanks! Glad it entertained you!
Asking this as someone who knows 0 about metalwork, would it still work without those big plates over it? Or is there another way of just hooking up two wheels on the back part?
Those plates provide integrity and rigidity to the whole setup. You need that in a vehicle.
well done. how does the power get to the wheels?
Thanks man...it still uses the original rear wheel for power train and suspension...the trike frame simply goes around it and the new axles have there own suspension travel.
Is that how they all work?
+tim sway no there are full conversions that remove the rear wheel and power the rear axle instead.
No this is the cheap way . plus they just made replacing the rear tire on the bike three times harder
By the back wheel they never removed it This is like a set of training wheels but it looks good
Would u be interested in building a trike kit for my motorcycle. Also depending on ur location
beautiful job glad I didn't sell my bike, there's hope
Nice fab skills
Excelente, bendiciones
just mounted at the belly plate ?
What type of axles do you use and where can I get them?
They were Flexiride Torsion Axles; google search for those and you will find them on many sites for sale.
Aaron I want to make this for my Suzuki LC1500..do you think the 13in. wheels will work OK??

Do you have the plans for this?
Hi there, thanks for the interest and watching. I do not have plans unfortunately.
Would this be possible with no welding? Using rivets or something instead?
but i wouldn't advise it
hi,
the rectangular that you welded, what was his dimension,is it 1/4 thick?
how did you attached it on the GW?
i have an 1984 and want to do the same here,

so you dont have a fixation at the passenger pegs like other trikes we are seeing on youtube?
thanks for your response

Good job. What's the number of rim and tire. Thanks
Echisero50 thanks! Sorry I don't have the tire size info anymore but thanks for watching!

Not throwing cold water in this, just thinking.
That is a good point! luckily no issues this time but i hear you. Thanks!
Yeah I was wondering if you had the dimensions and specs for the belly plate
Thanks for the interest; I do not have this bike and no longer have the belly plate template that I made; sorry.
you need to fabricate that to the bike itself ll frames do not match up
that looks better than the voyager kit.
could you share the design
This wasn’t an original design as the description says. It was fabricated based on a picture from sidetrike.com which you should check out if you are looking to try this. Good luck!
I want to do this for a 09' vstar for my wife's grandfather

OOO WISH YOU COULD MAKE ONE FOR MY BIKE !!
Haha glad you enjoyed it ...this was a one time build for a friend.
Have you tried to make a covered bike with 2 doors and a roof? It would be an all weather vehicle. More economical than a car I guess gas wise.
Now that sounds like a great project!
@@AaronVozzolo Yes Sir, I would like to build one some day myself. Let me know if it interests you. Best
It's not a trike if it has 4 wheels. Those are training wheels. Looks good though
Don't forget to install a rake kit
how much for a set of prints?
Hi there, sorry I don't have plans for sale on this. Thanks for checking it out though!
thanks anyhow..
can you make some plans so people can purchase them?
Sorry I did not make plans when I fabricated this and I no longer have access to the bike.
That is not a trike its a training wheel kit.You have 4 wheels in some states they consider those cars.
Bravo
That's not a trike, it's a motorcycle with training wheels.
Cheers! Build me a better one please!

Nice concept, but it are support/training wheels, no trike build
Ya left out to good bits,,
Sorry it wasn’t meant to be a how to. Just an overview
its not trike, its quad! count the wheels

Too heavy duty !! Lol… takes more gas to drag it … I would use less metal.
If your contraption has 4-wheels,,,,it damn sure aint no Trike!
Ui
But it’s not a trike it has four wheels
Oh yes. Loud annoying noises
