Not to take away from Toni, but Geezer fucking rocks!
Agreed, the distorted heavy base tone on this song was gnarly.
Same with Bill Ward
And Geezer wrote most of Sabbaths lyrics. Ozzy is melody.
@@jasonsmith666 that's the truth.
Geezer’s one of my favorite bassist of all time🤘🤘
Into the Void, Hand of Doom, snowblind, and after forever (among a bunch of others) are all worth your time if you want to keep going down the rabbit hole.
All absolute groovy bangers. With lyrics worth paying attention to.
Into the void. So damn heavy. After forever has some of the catchiest riffs on master.
Into the Void is my fave ❤along with Killing Yourself to Live🤘
OMG! The first three on your list are my absolute favorite sabbath tunes…Bravo
Got to do Snow Blind.
Into the void, sweet leaf, snowblind, the warning and the wizard. Some of the underated gems
Love the warning
Into the void must be their heaviest!
@@t.h.7426 that bass tone! Round, chunky, mellow, magnetic
Supernaut and Hand Of Doom are some of my fav underrated songs of theirs
@@bebop_557 Hand.Of.Dooooom!!!
Don't get me wrong Tony kicked ass but IMO Geezer is the star of this song. That bassline with the funk and chunk all finger playing no pick. That's what my ear gets morenb
This
Geezer also wrote most of the lyrics.
Agreed. Lyrics by Geezer too.
They’ve put out 8 records with Ozzy from 70-78. Then they had Ronnie James Dio for 2 records, Ian Gillan for one record, Tony Martin for 4 or 5 records, then they had Ozzy come back for 13 in 2013. So they’ve put out a decent number of records in the past 5 decades. They split up in 2017 and I was lucky enough to see them with Ozzy in Chicago in 2016.
*Edit: they’ve also put out many live records as well. While I’m here I also want to see you guys react to some Deep Purple. Ian Gillan had an amazing voice, and their keyboardist, Jon Lord is regarded is the greatest rock keyboardist of all time
You missed mentioning that Dio returned and they put out another album with him in 1992 called Dehumanizer. Then Dio left again and they did another Tony Martin. Then they hooked up with Ozzy again, but didn't record any new material. Then they hooked up with Dio again and put out another album with him under the band name "Heaven and Hell" called "The Devil You Know". But make no mistake about it, The Devil You Know is a Black Sabbath album, they just didn't want to mess up their working relationship with Ozzy so they changed the band name for that album. So, it's 9 albums with Ozzy and 4 albums with Dio.
Also, IMO, you can skip all of the non-Ozzy and non-Dio albums, they don't sound like Black Sabbath to me (Cross Purposes is the only one I even kind of like). But all of the Ozzy and Dio albums are good to great.
Then you both forgot that they put out 1 album with the legend Glenn Hughes! Seventh Star is a terribly underrated album.
Toni Iommi > all! The godfather! People show the love he deserves!
Yes, Toni is the godfather of metal!
If you want more "chill" Black Sabbath you should check out "Planet Caravan" and "Fairies Wear Boots".
Fairies wear Boots is definitely not chill. Solitude comes to mind. Because that’s definitely chill.
Nor is "Lord of this World" but the two guys in the video said they were surprised by how chill it is compared to other songs by Sabbath.
They got tracks like fluff and solitude that very chill and relax also Tony iomi is probably one of the greatest guitar players ever to have lived
Air dance by black sabbath. Also pretty chill
Solitude is their most chill, imo
They started out as a blues band. Tony Iommi lost his fingertips in an accident at his day job and had to learn to play a different way. That was the birth of heavy metal.
Tony tried ever thinner strings to be able to play like he used to. To compensate for his thinner guitar sound, he tried everything he could think of to get a thicker sound.
By the time they got to this album (1971) he started downtuning, the band was already going for heavy and for 4 albums straight they must've been the heaviest band around.
Hand Of Doom is worth a listen. The transitions are crazy and the lyrics, well just listen ✌
4 of the greatest musicians ever!!!
Y'all need to listen to some Kyuss. They're probably the best band to pick up the torch of the original Sabbath sound and run with it.
I'd suggest "Green Machine",
"Supa Scoopa and Mighty Scoop", "One Inch Man", or "Spaceship Landing" to start with.
They did Catamaran (I know, technically not a Kyuss song) at my suggestion but it’s been a year! I agree more Kyuss 😊
“Did they put out more than two albums?” 😂
"I bet they're just kicking themselves in the butt... 'We fired Ozzy' "...
🤣😂🤣
Just wait til they find out they replaced Ozzy with Ronnie James Fucking Dio
Then they must do Heaven and Hell
They never replaced ozzy lol they were Black Sabbath because of ozzy regardless how good dio was
@@topgunvideos774 not even close, black sabbath is tony iommi and geezer butler
Symptom of the universe, megalomania, and the writ- 3 criminally underrated songs on a criminally underrated album- Sabotage.
This songs kills it also....🤘 and my 2 cents here too- yes Iommi created almost EVERY metal riff.
Tony Iommi period. ... by the way Did you hear the bassline on this track? give props to Geezer Butler for that and his lyrics!
Tony for me too, but damn that bass Geezer plucks and drum fills by Bill are just so good
Iommi is more known for riffs but the man can solo his ass off. Geezers tone on that whole album is insane. So heavy. Master of Reality is their best album.
Tony is not as flashy as the other guys but definitely wrote more riffs than anyone ever. All metal riffs are just a play on something tony wrote
Not really the roots of metal stem all the way from classical
Another great reaction dudes! Tony Iommi is an absolute legend! I grew up less than ten miles away from where Sabbath grew up,, met and formed the band. I've grew up listening to Sabbath from a young age in the late 70's to early 80's, thanks to my older sister being a fan and I still love them now. As much as I love Ozzy and the first six albums with him singing are especially brilliant, a lot of the credit for the lyrics should go to bassist Geezer Butler. He actually wrote the lyrics to a huge chunk of Sabbath's 70's era. There's so many classics you could check out from this era of Sabbath. "Snowblind", "Tomorrow's Dream", "Supernaut", "Sweet Leaf", "NIB", "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath", "Killing Yourself To Live", "Hand Of Doom", "Electric Funeral", "A National Acrobat",. So many more. I can't fault any of their first six albums. They are all superb. Also if you want to hear the truly mellow side of Sabbath from this era check out songs like "Planet Caravan" (Which Pantera did a cover of in the 90's) and "Solitude".
Awesome reaction. Great to see you guys giving Tony Iommi some love. Try Symptom of the Universe by Sabbath. Holy shit it’s the preliminary to early thrash. And the drums are bangin in that one. Keep it up guys!!!
Black Sabbath released 19 studio albums over a period of 43 years. Within these 43 years they had 9 (!) different singers with Ozzy and Ronnie James Dio (who sung on the two legendary albums "Heaven and Hell" (1980)and "Mob Rules" (1981)) being the most prominent ones. Other singers were Dave Walker (1977-1978), Ian Gillan (1982-1984, he's best known as the singer of Deep Purple), David Donato (1984-1985), Glenn Hughes (1985-1986, he was a bass player for Deep Purple in the mid-70's), Ray Gillen (1986-1987) and Tony Martin (1987-1991 and 1992-1997)
Iommi as the band leader is the only one in the band who has been in from start to finish. They also had eight different bass players, eleven drummers and two keyboarders.
Also you should check out Iommi's solo record called 'Iommi' from 2000, every track is sung by another guest vocalist and it's like the creme de la creme of rock singers: Pete Steele (Type O Negative), Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Ian Astbury (The Cult), Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Phil Anselmo (Pantera), Henry Rollins (Black Flag / Rollins Band), Skin (Skunk Anansie), Billy Idol and Ozzy himself. And the songs all sound like Black Sabbath songs, just always sung by another great rock singer. For the channel as a song to react to from this album I suggest 'Just say no to Love' sung by Pete Steele.
Shout out to Geezer Butler and that tone he uses.
Funny enough, not only are they first metal band. They’re also the first to play Christian metal, this song is a good example of it.
For a showcase of Iomi's talent 'Wicked World' will suprise you!!
The bass in this absolutely lethal as well, Geezer is an incredible bassist
You guys HAVE to do Fairies wear boots!
You will LOVE the groove...I promise...
All four were fantastic in this song but it was hard to take my ears off Geezer. He was a beast.
Gave many people LSD for their first time and played this song as their intros to Sabbath when I was in high school and cemented dozens of life long Sabbath fans! Black Sabbath forever!! 🤘
Nice to see you youngsters digging Sabbath.
I used to hang out with the older people in my neighborhood and they introduced me to a lot of classic music around 1978-80. I was 12 and listened to Master of Reality for hours and days. It was hypnotizing. That led into everything from there on out.
Points for not calling him Tony Lommi... I’ve seen reactors do that 😆😩
Thanks for the shoutout! 😊🤘🏽🦇
Btw Ozzy’s replacement, Ronnie James Dio, is generally credited with popularizing the most widely used hand gesture in metal: 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
The Doom and Stoner Metal subgenres were highly influenced by this Sabbath album in particular.
One of the best breakdowns of all time! Catches you off guard.
Master of Reality is also the blue print for Stoner Rock/Metal.
Tony moves on...period!
The funkiest, most grooving hard rock band this side of Led Zeppelin! Bill Ward and Geezer Butler are a monster rhythm section. Tony’s riffs and Ozzy’s vocals are the icing on the cake.
Couldn’t pass up an opportunity to be the first comment on my favorite reaction channel! Great reaction👍🏻
I've seen you guys react to the Beastie Boys 'Paul Revere' which is one of my all-time favorite songs. Fun fact I met my first room-mate on a bus because despite lookin kinda preppy (it was like 1988) he was reading a High TImes magazine and I sat down next to him while listening to Paul Revere on my knock-off walkman which is like an iPod except it was bigger and you'd jam a plastic cartridge with s spool of magnetic tape that had analog signals representing music magnetized onto it. A mechanical device kinda bit into this cartridge i a specific way so it could lock in little motor-wheels to spool the tape across a magnetize piece of steel that 'read' the tape. You plugged in crappy lil headphones that went over your head and had very litlte bass to speak of... oh yeah you could hear the mechanical noise of the mechanism and the hisss of the background noise when playing the tape. And every time you played the tape your copy degraded and became a little more distorted & less accurate. But dammit you could listen to music you had on these tapes and it made a huge difference in life. MY music. MY terms. OKay, anyways so I was listening to Paul Revere and you can't help but say/sing the words at least to your favoritue parts at leasst under your breath... so when MCAs part started I couldn't hel lp myself and was like 'Now my name is MCA, I've got a license to kill, I think you know what time it is, it's time to get ill, Now what do we have here, an outlaw and his beer, I run this land, you understand, I've made myself clear' then I hear a response 'We stepped into the wind, he had a gun, I had a grin, You think this story's over but it's ready to begin' to which I replied 'Now I got the gun, you got the brew, You got two choices of what you can do, It's not a tough decision as you can see, I can blow you away or you can ride with me". This continued until they let the beat ride at the end. It was the preppy lookin dude reading High Times (obviously) and we both started cracking up. Oh yea, I was your archetypal long-haired metalhead stoner dude probably wearing a Black Sabbath or Metallica t-shirt. But yeah we became friends and room-mates and raised all kindsa hell. All because of High Times & Paul Revere. So everytime I've watched your reactions to the Beastie Boys and Black Sabbath you seem to catch on that they are both OGs in their respective styles but I dont' think you quite have understood how influential they've been and how much that status is deserved. Maybe a comparison the N.W.A., another of my all-time favorites, will help you understand.. So Dre is the mothafuckin doctor and crafts the beats and samples old smooth funky shit... that's Tony Ionni the riff-master who everyone else who wrote a decent rff is derivative of... the Ice Cube is the lyricist, dropping English right about now, who wrote ''Cause the boys in the hood are always hard, You come talkin' that trash, we'll pull your card, Knowin' nothin' in life, but to be legit, Don't quote me, boy, 'cause I ain't said shit.' WORD. Then later turned that fire on NWA with 'No Vaseline' now that's GeeZer Butler, the lyricist and epic OG funky bass player of Sabbath. He wrote all the wicked & thought -provoking words Ozzy spits. so yea Ozzy is the infamous showman center of attention with a distinct vocal style = Eazy E then MC Ren = Drummer Bill Ward for unexpectedly showing up the rest of the group with crazy flourishes. 4 strong personalites that are masters in their instruments in their own right, with a definite 'fuck you I won't do what you tell me' attitude that represent the genesis of a new form of their craft, a distillation into a more pure form with more power packed bounce to the ounce....the establishment see them as a threat, and attacks them yet the fans love them and support them to a degree as yet unknown cuz they say the shit straight out without fear they say 'Fuck the police' "Lord of this world, He's your confessor now!'
The interplay with the electric and bass guitar makes this song.
this is my favorite sabbath album, hands down. it lays the foundation for what would become doom metal. check out pentagram -relentless or sign of the wolf
Another great Sabbath tune that was not played on the radio and casual fans dont know but it rocks.
You guys react and listen to this the same way we did way back then, in the basement man cave sparking them up. Music pours right through you ✌️just so dam good. Its like you were there
React to The Wizard by Sabbath please. Killer harmonica intro.
Yeah!
22nd century kids are gonna love Sabbath
50 years ago today this album dropped. Insane.
Probably my favorite Black Sabbath song…that groove is just sick 🖤🥶
When it comes to Ozzy and guitarists it's Randy Rhoads then everyone else , he was/is the MASTER!
Wow you did your thing geezer.
If anyone still haven't mentioned this yet: At the age of 17, Iommi lost the tips of the middle and ring fingers of his right hand in an industrial accident on his last day of work in a sheet metal factory. And still played as awesome as he did!!! That's very cool!
“ Heaven and hell”, “Neon nights”, “Fairies wear boots”, “ The Wizard”.
Im pretty sure Geezer Butler wrote most of Sabbaths lyrics, and also is a bass god truly talented!
The Bassist for Black Sabbath Geezer Butler was the main lyricist for that band!!
Also the bass is dope on this track!! 🔥👌
The bassist Geezer Butler wrote most of the lyrics during the Ozzy years of Black Sabbath.
The man with the maimed hand is in a different league.
That whole is a masterpiece!🔥. Worth a full album do.
Corrosion of Conformity does a really awesome cover of this song too!
Check the brazilian rock bands.
Sepultura - Isolation
Krisiun - Ways do Barbarism
Nervosa - Guided by Evil
Angra - Carry On
Revolta - Hecatombe Genocida (João Gordo from Ratos De Porão and Prika Amaral from Nervosa on vocals, Moyses Kolesne from krisiun and Guilherme Miranda from Entombed A.D on guitarrs, Castor from Torture Squad on bass and Iggor Cavalera from Cavalera Conspiracy and ex Sepultura on drummer.
It’s hard to compare the two guitarists. One is rock and the other is hard rock. I listen to almost every genre. It’s the mood I’m in at the time and how I hear it.. To be honest they both are outstanding and deserve to be on a pedestal.
Riff Master 🙌
Their first six albums are my favorite ones, especially the third, Master of Reality, from where this song comes from.
Late to the party, but Fairies Wear Boots is another extremely chill and funky viney song, excellent. Black Sabbath has a surreal catalogue of industry pioneering sounds. Once someone listens through the catalogue, they can finally understand how groundbreaking Black Sabbath was.
The recognition for Sabbath creating heavy metal is appreciated. There was not evolution they were a part of. Their music was alien.
All of Heavy metal, and its subgenres, owe their existence to Iommi and his riff writing
Geezer killed this..... RIP one of the greats!
Side note, two of the most influential guitarists of all times, Jimi Hendrix and Tony Iommi were both left handed guitar players :)
Ozzy is a great vocalist and amazing with Sabbath. He did 8 studio albums before being fired in about 1979. ( one reunion in 2013)
After he got fired they joined with arguably the best Metal signer of all time Ronnie James Dio check out the song Heaven and Hell.
HAND OF DOOM !!! The lyrics and time changes are BEYOND HEAVY it’s about the mental effects of war causing a downward spiral of heroin addiction snd the consequences. And the music totally sets the tone!! Absolutely Genius
This is one of my favorite bands to listen to when Im STONED OUT OF MY MIND while Im being creative lol
Black Sabbath are the king's☮️
Yes.
this song...50 years ago😯 omg😎
Hand of Doom has Iommi's best work. The sheer number of bangers on that song is wild
Recently discovered the Tenacious D video for "To Be the Best". Hilarious. A 1.5 minute song, but a 6 minute video with many cameos from Tim Robbins to Val Kilmer.
Tony and Jimmy have both written memorable riffs and guitar melodies, but I wouldn’t put either at the top of a “greatest guitarist” list, I’d sooner mention Jeff Beck, Eddie Van Halen and Jimi Hendrix who truly revolutionized how the guitar was used in rock music.
That being said, Tony’s riffs and other contributions were truly unique in rock music. He had a way of combining groove, melody and heaviness into something unheard before. This song is a prime example of that. At times, the riffs have a catchiness that’s borderline pop, but manages to still have a sinister and ominous feel to it.
HOWDY FROM NEW ENGLAND.....YES PLL GENERALLY SAY THAT SABBATH INVENTED METAL BECAUSE OF HOW THE TONI TUNED HIS GUITAR...BUT I LIKE TO THINK SABBATH AND PRIEST INVENTED METAL CAUSE PRIEST CAME OUT A YR AND A HALF AFTER SABBATH...ALTHOUGH PRIEST HAD A MORE. BLUESY FEEL WHEN THEY STARTED BUT BY THE 3RD ALBUM THEIR SOUND CAME TOGETHER...GREAT VID GUYS I LOVE HOW YOU SHOOT THE SH$T BEFORE YOU DO THE SONGS...SMOKY CAN REALLY GO DEEP WITH SOME OF HIS MUSICAL KNOWLEDGE...PEACE FROM THE NORTHEAST....
Hammer of the Gods had a hand in it too
Ozzy did eight albums with Sabbath from 1970 to 1978. Then they did two albums with Ronnie James Dio.Then one album with Ian Gillan from deep purple. Then various other singers for all the other albums until they did a couple reunion tours with both Dio and Ozzy. They have 19 studio albums, eight live albums, 16 compilation albums, seven video albums, one extended play and 30 singles. And you should expect to hear stuff like this from Sabbath as they not only spawned heavy metal but also subgenres such as doom metal and groove metal :)
iommi > page any day
The first six albums by Sabbath are head and shoulders above any one else. I dare anybody to find a band with six albums Total that are this good.
it reminds me of the times we were riding on our Harleys
A great many albums. Black Sabbath Black Sabbath is my favorite album.
Hi guys great channel, Sabbath just have the best grooves in music / metal as mentioned already black Sabbath are the originators of metal and Ozzy had 8 albums with Sabbath , the first six are regarded the best , but this album "master of reality " is amazing ,Sabbath do most genres even easy listening.......( (changes )...The birth of thrash ..( symptom of the universe)..and to the insane groove of (SNOWBLIND).Tony iommi is a rock god and RIFF king 🤘.!!!!love the channel guys.
Geezers bass sounds like funky ass rubber bands. Sabbath has their place in history firmly cemented, now the younger kids are realizing this too
🤘🖤🦇🤘
Tony iommi
Oh man...if you like this, INTO THE VOID
Black Sabbath: best band ever
Sabbath's released 19 albums, after they fired Ozzy they got the legendary Dio to sing for them, and after their first release with him, Heaven and Hell, that song became their signature with him, renamed themselves Heaven and Hell, released an album under that name, and every so often afterwards would do a tour with him as Heaven and Hell.
"That's ridin' music"😂🤘
You have Listen to DIO : The Last in Line or Dont Talk to strangers
Hellyeah thank you and I don’t care anymore mv
Iommi does more riffs in one song then many bands do in their careers
So you guys like Pantera? Just do Sandblasted Skin from the 101 proof official live album.
Never live. Do studio versions. A new level
What did they do after? They did an amazing album with Ronnie James Dio, and continued making albums. You must react to "Heaven And Hell" from their Dio era.
Great choice one of my faves A few other fantastic Sabbath songs from Ozzys era Sabbath Killing Yourself to Live A National Acrobat The Writ Warning Symptom of the Universe and Chikdren of the Grave. And with the greatest vocalist of all time Ronnie James Dio RIP check out Children of the Sea Heaven and Hell and Sign of the Southern Cross All Goosebumps!
The discography of Black Sabbath, an English heavy metal band, includes 19 studio albums, eight live albums, 16 compilation albums, seven video albums, ...
Live albums: 8
Video albums: 7
Studio albums: 19
Compilation albums: 16
The made 8 albums with Ozzy in the 70s and a new album called "13" in 2012/2013
Fairies Wear Boots, NIB, Ironman, Sweet Leaf, & Sabbath Bloody Sabbath rocks! 🤘🏼🎸
Check out Tony iommi guitar playing with bill ward drums geezer butler bass with this bad ass song called
"The warning "
It's hard to say who is the best because they had different styles. Jimmy is more blues based and Tony is more Jazz based. I prefer Tony, been a Sabbath fan since 1972.
People sometimes say that (actually, they say it about Ward more), but I don't see him regularly using substituitions, ii-V-I chords, or anything that is "jazz" aside from the quality of sabbath's music that has a bit of loose swing in parts, mostly in the drums. Jimmy is blues-based, sure, because he actually plays blues scales and writes songs with blues progressions. Tony is also blues-based, but doesn't actually write any blues songs like Page did. The reason you really can't compare them is Tony was innovative and created a new subgenre of rock, whereas Zeppelin rarely did anything 'heavy' like Sabbath. There was some palm-muting metal-ish riffs (Communication Breakdown) -- but he was also busy doing blues and folk in Zeppelin's music to really be comparable to Iommi. Comparing Page and Blackmore, or Page and Beck, might be more appropriate.
TONY!!! TONY!!! TONY!!!
Tony Eye-omm-EE
And also I've looked several times for your reaction to Black Sabbath the song, I cannot find it?
You have to do Dirty Women by Sabbath. It’s from the last album with Ozzy and oh boy, it got a bit proggy…
