I did not read the directions when I added 6 #20 bags of Flourite into my 75 Gallon tank....Its been running for almost a month, even with water changes, its still cloudy AF....Going to move my fish to another tank, and completely drain/rinse all the flourite; really really really really wish I would have known I needed to rinse it first...I had read multiple comments online from people who said if you rinse it, you'll wash away the nutrients; WHAT BS!!! Live and Learn!
I don't think the Flourite have any nutrients with them to begin with. Anyway, after I've clean it up and it works wonder! Definitely one of my favorite substrate for planted tank
Hello! Thank you for both the video reviews of fluorite. One question. The result with calli after washing the fluorite sand is the same of the first video? Thank you!
Up 1 month with red clay 2 inches very cloudy when planting yet plants are growing well filters are red with hang on back filter. Still cycling and really hope for some advice it has 4 filters . 20 gallon with 7 platy which love to eat .They seem very heavy .Your videos are very honest and I thank you form Canada.
I was left with half inch of mud. It was fine for the first few months but afterwards everything just crashed. Maybe you could try syphon as much of it out as possible. Cause I'm worry that after sometime the upper layer will solidify and isolate the lower layer from healthy oxygenated water to enter it.
There's only Seachem Flourite in the aquarium. The illusion of double layer is cause by the light bouncing back from the aquarium glass illuminating the upper portion of the substrate.
Kudos for admitting you were wrong. Not everyone would do that.

Thank you for sharing. I'm just starting a tank to which I hope to add live plants and this was VERY useful information.
Glad I watched this before I put in my first flourite.

Matteo Italia hi, after washing them the results remain the same if not better. But I do lost quite a bit of the flourite when I clean them.
Very helpful, THANK YOU!!
Can I use soil to raise the grade in areas and top it with flourite?
