They were irrevocably linked together in that moment, and their meeting was the fulfillment of that long-awaited (and avoided) destiny. You could see it in their eyes when they met, their hearts recognized each other. I think they are going to be each other's healing. Ciri will save Geralt by keeping him human, and Geralt will be the father and family she desperately needs.

their reunion had more meaning in the books in my opinion... if you haven't you should totally read them they are great!
I love how this series is showing us that blood doesn’t make you family. Even if you cannot produce your own biological children that doesn’t mean you can’t be parent. Geralt’s mother left him, subjecting him to a life that rendered him infertile but fate still made him a father. Although Ciri isn’t his biological child you can already see the bond developing.

It was to show how mentally connected Ciri is to Geralt. Maybe in the books this connection is clearer
In the books she actually says "Am I Your Destiny?" Or something I forgot but I know it's close to that.

Long story short, Geralt found an 8 year old Ciri in Brokilon Forrest and they develop a really touching bond as they travel through it.
Sadly though, he does end up sending her back to Calanthe because he doesn't want anything to do with destiny

This is an amazing story. I have never read à series of books that left me with such a personal emotional connection to the characters. I want to thank the author for his wonderful work and inspiration.

Omg this is beautiful! I was so convinced they’d end the episode before Geralt found her. I had a moment where I thought Serie might not know who he is and try to attack him. But the slow mo run and the hug and the music made the first season for me. I waited patiently for that moment and it was so worth it. This battle hardened witcher who has been through hell and back and was the opposite of paternal for most of his life had his world turned upside down and his heart melted by one young girl with a lot of power. I can’t wait for season 2.
SOO BEAUTIFUL! Now I want to cry? I cannot WAIT to see how well Geralt takes to fatherhood in Season 2.

Books were alot of better. To be honest since book for it turned little different and were harder to read but still enjoyable.
When they found eachother in ep8, i lost my shit and just screamed "FUCKING FINALLY" im so in love with them, i cannot wait to see more father/daughter content of these two, honestly, i just need season 2, 3, 4, 5... i love them so much. Geralt loves Ciri so much, even tho he never met her, he was willing so sacrifice everything for her, and thats the most priceless thing about them, destinyyyyyy.
i never thought that them finally meeting would make me cry so hard

I’m actually glad they made this show to expose the broader audience to the contextual lore covered in the books. Because the Witcher games begin after the events of the books, and aren’t technically cannon. Seeing Geralt and Yen first fall in love with each other is so sweet. Seeing Geralt meet his daughter Ciri was so emotional as well. I wonder if they’ll start showing the wild hunt in season 2!

In the game there's an ending where ciri dies and imo its the most heartbreaking and painful thing i've ever sat through in a game. you can even see geralt give up in life, letting himself be devoured by drowners and water hags.
