- Hellshire Beach is a popular beach for local Jamaicans. Over the years the sea water has come in and the beach experience has shifted dramatically. The erosion is a result of sea level rise and deterioration on the coastline's natural defense. It didn't help that major hurricanes in recent years have also contributed significantly to the erosion. Today there isn't much of a sandy beach left on Hellshire. However, the beach still has something to offer, and we plan to check it out.

I use to go there in the 80's and 90's as a kid. The beach was beautiful, the Fish and festivals was great. I still don't think I have any festival better than theirs.
Even in the 90's people started to build places closer and closer to the beach. Even as a kid I was worried, mainly about their bathroom situation.
It is really sad what has happened to the beach. The entire thing has washed away. I’m not so sure that the loss of the beach area is a result of people building closer or a result of the water coming in. Either way it’s a tremendous loss.
Sad I use to be there in late 70 tis 80 tis most weekend
It’s real sad what happened to the beach. It used to be a really fun beach experience. Unfortunately, it is not what it used to be.
