The possibilities are really fascinating, and even without tectonic activity the Moon could be plenty dangerous to explorers. A lot of the proposed plans for lunar base design involve digging down into the regolith; but we don't (yet) know how stable the Moon's regolith really is, and we won't know that until we dig some exploratory tunnels AND until those tunnels have also weathered a moon-quake. It's entirely possible that even the basalt rocks on the Moon aren't stable enough for us to simply dig a hole.
That doesn't mean underground bases are a no go though, even if the native regolith does turn out to have the structural stability of brittle shale.
I'd love to see y'all cover some of the ideas for mining the regolith and making it into durable building materials, I don't think you've talked about it (or not recently). I was reading a very good set of YA sci-fi novels (Moon Beam and Moon Tracks, very fun) and one of the events discussed was a tunnel collapse.

Presuming the composition of the Moon and Earth are similar due to the impact that created the Moon, wouldn't a molten core produce a very small but measurable magnetic field? Since the Moon used to have have one but doesn't appear to now, that would seem to make geologic activity improbable.

So about that crater, roundabout 4:55, that some scientists hypothesize "burped" around 2 million years ago. Does that coordinate in any way with the beginning of the Quaternary glaciation period? Dad and I were watching a documentary the other day (possibly SciSho) in which they said the onset of the glaciation was rapid and the cause unknown. Is it possible for such a "burp" to interfere with the amount of solar energy reaching the Earth?

If I wasn't a married man myself I would definitely risk dating the Moon. My partner has phases too, sure, and I'm always learning how to love and handle them but Moon's are quite predictable so that may make it slightly easier.
Love you, partner. All this about dating the Moon is a highly improbable hypothetical! And we did agree we can both have a special exception like in the case we ever see ourselves trapped in an elevator with that famous actress and she looks like she is really into it! So, just saying.
Oh, who am I trying to fool! No Moon well ever stay between us! (I'm mean, it's also HIGHLY improbable…) Love you!

@@stevexracer Yeah, I think in my case you're right but I'm not sure I would recommend it to everyone! 😅

@Thiago F tell her to let the moon watch, and just see where it goes. 🤣

In terms of exploiting the moon's resources, I remember once hearing that there are highly potent particles containing enormous amounts of energy that a kilo of it could supply the entire earth's needs for a year. Can you verify that?
    Thanks for the good features.

It's not true and requires a technology that will never work.

Dating the moon can indeed be tricky, there's always a side she'll never show you.

So, we've only scratched the surface of the Moon, if I may say.

How scary is it to think if there was life on earth at the time of the Thea cataclysm? We would never know...there could theoretically been, however unlikely it is, advanced civilizations...completely wiped.

Our large moon is likely the reason our planet has stayed hotter than it would be just from the sun alone. This allowed life time to flourish.
