    This was an entertaining video! But for any future UPT students... we set up instruments, start the airplane and fly the T-6 completely differently than this. Don't use this as a practical guide or training

      Absolutely! Hopefully, it goes without saying but, (as stated in the video description) all of my content is for entertainment / simming purposes only.
      I’m glad you enjoyed the video otherwise. Many thanks for watching and all the best : )

      @@fear2218 Lots and lots of folks think sim procedures are real procedures, and some of them are 15 year olds that will eventually show up to UPT. I was one of them, way back, and I didn't have any real trouble at UPT. While I am sure your rays of sunshine are appreciated, perhaps leave the judgements on who is fit for UPT to the USAF, eh?

    Very nice! Your confidence in flying the T-6A is impressive - especially in that you left the canopy jettison lock pin installed - no way out! 😉

    • @Its_Spaceman_
      @Its_Spaceman_ 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      If your talking about the pin in the handle next to to pilot then it was put there intentionally. Just a holding position for the ejection seat RBF pin.
      T-6 Texan II's don't have a jettisoning canopy, the yellow RBF tag was the canopy charge that shatters the canopy before ejection.

    • @fpvid9344
      @fpvid9344 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I actually fly the T-6B currently in naval flight school. That pin in the black canopy handle IS NOT the canopy fracturing pin. It is the ejection seat pin that has been removed from the seat and stowed in the handle (this is the correct spot for it in flight to prevent a FOD hazard).
      Also we fly with the CFS pin INSTALLED to prevent inadvertently activating it in flight. So even if it was CFS pin, it would still be correctly installed. The actual CFS handle is on the lower left side panel.

But installing the updates si so cumbersone (when you have a few it is) that I prefer to download the updates from simplaza (I know, but it has saved me time on this and money on planes that were not worth it).

    My dream was always to fly for the Air Force! Unfortunately, I knew couldn't get the congressional nomination for the Air Force Academy so I didn't attempt it. I had taken the ASVAB and got a 92 but without the Academy, everyone told me it was pretty much a zero percent shot at making it to a flight spot. I'm 20 years old and an instrument flight instructor but I have fueled so many T-6As from back when I was a line guy. I always had so many questions for the pilots! I was always jealous of them but now I'll get to see what it's like in the sim.

    Makes me want to dust off my Dash 1 and try all of the modules against it. Guess I need to get to building that new PC.
    The Iris T-6A was my second favorite platform in FSX, tied with the DoDo 206 and sandwiched between Cantaneo's T-45 as a very close 3rd and the VRS Super Bug as 1st. An actual micro-sim qualified sim in MSFS is exciting. From both the Dash 1 and those aviators I've spoken with while vacationing at NAS Pensacola verify that left roll tendency.
    Added in Edit: Layman wannabe here so take this FWIW, The bold face in the Dash 1 says no OCF below 10,000 AGL. In fact, I think there's something in there that if you depart below 10K, give the plane up and get out. I always thought that would be dependent on how severe that departure is and at what corner of the envelope. But it's been years since I was working my way through the curriculum so I may be wrong on that.

    • @Viper31300
      @Viper31300 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There isn't any specific altitude limit for OCF boldface for the T-6. Only what to do with the controls in order to recover. I believe the minimum altitude for OCF to look for is 7,000 AGL. The T-6 is very easy to control, and all it takes to regain controlled flight is literally taking your feet off the rudder pedals and hands off the stick for a few seconds. For minimum altitude before ejecting, I believe its either 2,000 or 3,000 feet AGL.

    Would the 'response,' to stick and rudder inputs be the difference between mechanical controls, versus 'fly by wire'?
    I was pretty sure the T-6 was still the traditional mechanical control design, and not the more modern 'FBW,' design.
    As you said, an adjustment in the control sensitivity settings, may give you a better feel in handling.
    On the canopy handle there was the 'pin,' with a ribbon that was the standard 'Remove before flight,' red ribbon.
    The pin should be removed for flight.
    I'm sure in the real aircraft, the pin would be a hazard, in the event the canopy had to be opened for pilot jettison, in an emergency. Parachutes are probably standard issue to the pilots.

    • @Alienxcow
      @Alienxcow 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That pin you see in the canopy handle is from the ejection handle on the seat. It is supposed to be on the canopy handle in flight. T-6s cannot jettison the canopy. Good try though

    • @jameslanning8405
      @jameslanning8405 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Alienxcow Okay... I got that.
      But the ribbon is misleading then, "Remove Before Flight," being printed on the ribbon.
      Why would the T-6 have an ejection seat, but not a jettisoned canopy?
      This seems a little confusing to myself.
      You'd have to have a way to open the canopy, before ejecting from the plane.
      There must be some sort of way, to dislodge the hinged side of the canopy, so that it can be removed, before being shot out of the plane!.
      Or, is the pilot and back esat just shot through the plexiglass? Or whatever materials the canopy is made from...

    Hi there bought the red arrow T1 Hawk product today and have had one major issue. I have searched online for countless hours now and I am totally stuck. All reviews online including TH-cam I have watched and this issue works perfectly for everyone else. I have deleted and redownloaded the product hoping that would make a difference but it hasn't. The issue is when I input the correct input for the ailerons for the aircraft to either bank right or left my aileron deflection is very small and the aircraft banks very slowly to one side even thou I'm putting max input on my analogue stick, I've tried everything and it makes no sense. It's nothing to do with my controller or MFS2020 100% something with the aircraft, I don't understand why it's just happening to me as there's no reviews of this particular problem. Very much appreciate any help with this PLEASE.

      I have the same, or at least a variation where I have minimal deflection for the first 75% of movement and then ridiculously large deflection for the last 25%. Makes it almost impossible to fly smoothly. I’ve found the only way to slightly remedy it is in the joystick calibration itself and at least make it reliably over sensitive.

      @@andyreynolds6194 thanks for your reply. I’ve tried higher sensitivity methods and nothing works the aircraft just rolls very slowly but every other review on YT they can roll the aircraft very very quickly. What is the issue? It’s ruining the aircraft!

      Yes that’s for the “rudder bar lock” I have tried to click every button/knob there is. it’s nothing to do with my controller it’s the aileron deflection itself… when I go to roll the hawk my ailerons only move half of what they should even tho I have the joystick max to the (right or left).

    Apologies this comment has nothing to do with the videos but I am looking for help with MSFS. I CANNOT get the game to download on the installer. I've tried multiple times over the last 3 months and it will not go above 23(ISH)%, even when left on for nearly 24 hours solid. It appears to be downloading stuff but then the % just does not change.
    If anyone has any ideas/solutions, I would be most appreciative.

      Seeing as how it is a fighter trainer and they focus on formation flying you wouldn't be using an autopilot anyway, you'd always be hands on so that lack of an autopilot shouldn't be that big of an issue, unless you just don't have the attention span required for flying real airplanes(which most GA aircraft don't have one at all)
